It's a beautiful place to hang out with the family for a while. The owner and the lady are very nice and hardworking at breakfast. Rooms are very good! The owner is unfortunately domineering, reckless (flits with his car over the otherwise blocked courtyard) and unfriendly. Unfortunately, this has immensely tarnished our holiday enjoyment. Everything in general (if you don't meet the owner) to recommend further!

Everything's wonderful, except for the boss.

When we arrived, we were immediately enthusiastic about the hotel's impact. The owners were extremely friendly, the breakfast was very tasty and is very personal due to the care provided. As animal lovers, we were of course particularly pleased to have made acquaintance with different animals. We enjoyed our stay very, very well.

Super short stay

We were there last August with our three little children, we liked it so much that we booked again this year and we are very much looking forward to the nice breeder family again. We can't confirm any negative statements! Breakfast very good large selection and quantity. Rooms large and clean were also cleaned regularly. You should just keep in mind that you're getting off at a very nice horse court and not in a 5***** luxury hotel. Price performance is top.

What a family-friendly hotel.

The rooms are beautiful and cozy. The house itself is also very cozy and well decorated. Unfortunately, there are only snacks and no full-fledged restaurant. The breakfast is clear. Unfortunately, there was always something out and you had to ask. The house has potential, but gastronomically you can still improve a lot.

Nice little hotel.

Location of the hotel is ok if you have a car. Rooms are cosy and clean. However, there are few things I believe can be improved, specially if hotel is claiming to be 4* class.

1) parking - we arrived in the evening, parking lot was dark as well as the road from parking to our room - you need to use torch to see where u're going. Also, parking is muddy so count on dirty shoes and I would suggest to pack into backpack (instead of a suitcase), it will be easier to carry around.

2) breakfast - it is way below average, we got a plate prepared on our table with 4 pieces of ham, salami, cheese (1 per person). You can ask for more if you want, but the trick is - you always need to ask. We got a cup of coffee per person and again, if you want more you need to ask. If you prefer tea over coffee you need to ask.  If you want extra piece of bread, you need to ask. In the end you spend half of your breakfast asking for more cheese, more bread, more coffee, which is quite annoying. Also, you are offered 1 egg per person for breakfast - and you can't choose the way it is prepared. No vegetables are served whatsoever.

I understand that each place has certain ways of serving breakfast etc. and I don't want to be too hard on them but for a hotel that is claiming to be 4* category and charging 4* prices I would also expect 4* service, which was not the case.

On the top of it - we paid for our stay the evening before leaving in cash to the owner, she said the invoice will be prepared when we check out - which was not. We were in hurry to get to the slopes so forget to ask for it but again I think it should not be the responsibility of the customer to ask for invoice, it should be automatically given to you once you pay your bill.

There's a room for improvement

We visited this place already twice. The hotel is in a wonderful and very convenient location close to the Kaprun Castel and not far from the Kaprun city-center. It is only a few minutes by car to Tauern Spa.  It has a very pleasant atmosphere, welcoming and friendly staff and nice rooms. Additionally, the restaurant offers very tasty food as well. We are a family with two children and were a bit concerned about how our three-year-old daughter will eat in the restaurant, especially after reading some of the other reviews here. However, everything was perfect. The cook prepared a delicious three-course meal for us each evening. Our daughter always got a variant of the meal that suited perfectly to children in her age. She ate wonderfully. We had a very good time in Gut Edelweiss and are looking forward to visiting the place again.

Great holiday in a beautiful location

First time we come in summer 3 years ago and had fantastic experience. Now we come for 5 days in spring and the experience was even better. We enjoyed the home-like atmosphere. Rooms are unique with double bed in the top floor and two beds down in the living room. Hotel is situated close to horse farm and is connected to bike/walk road to Kaprun. Its ideal for morning jogging. Rooms are clean and nicely equiped and the food....food is really superb!

Perfect place for family vacation

I have been there for the fifth time, unfortunately, the change of tenants has changed a lot to the negative. The main focus was always Austrian specialties...in an excellent quality. The food was one of the hallmarks of the good Edelweiss. You could already choose what you get for dinner in the evening at the 3 course menu. You could also choose at least 2 dishes in all courses. However, even for the grown-ups there was nothing that worked out well, so there was always an attempt to fulfill the personal desires of the expendables. Changes of tenants with adverse effects

Cons:
The beds are essentially just seat foam on a wooden plank -- very uncomfortable and hot.
There was no water in the morning, and with only 2 rooms occupied out of 8, that's a bit odd.

Pros:
Nice people, very hospitable, no fuss at all.
Great room layouts.
Great location.

With a few little changes this could be awesome, but it's not

Were there in July 2010. The place is just a walk away from the Kaprun Burg, it is not placed in the city center itself but on the edge - for me it makes it perfect (the city center is just few minutes away by walk). Only.. beds are noisy... it is made out of the rough wood and for somebody with children in ther room it might not be very pleasant. 
This year we didn´t stay there because they opened after the time we wanted to come but at the end of our vacation we came to have dinner there and again we were very much satisfied. Clapping hands to the Chef...
