A site with good facilities for families, including a large swimming pool, but the pitches aren’t well maintained, pitches and paths are on a significant slope and the paths between units are very gravelly too, and therefore a bit tricky to walk on. We were given a very comprehensive booklet on arrival but since it was only in Dutch it was of no use to us. I can see that others have commented on this. It seems incredible that a version with key info in English / French / German hasn't been introduced by now. There is a terrace bar and restaurant but they are both closed on Wednesdays (which was the only day we were there) so we couldn’t test them. Although I wasn’t particularly keen on the site overall, the shower block was very good – a pleasant surprise. The town of Bertrix isn’t too far away but it’s all uphill from the site and, even with an electric bike, I didn’t fancy the trek. I was very glad we'd only booked 1 night on this site and was happy to move on.

A disappointing site

We booked a mobilehome for 3 nights with 3 kids. 

First of all, there was a complete lack of written information in English in generel, so I really can’t recommend the campsite to scandinavian families, because it is very difficult to keep yourself updated (unless you are fluent in dutch or french). The staff speaks great english, but you really don’t want to contact the staff time and time again. A tip: Get the information written down in english for gods sake, if you want to attract families outside Holland and Belgien 

Second of all, the swimmingpool seemed very old and worn out. It dosen’t seem to have been maintained very well through the years, and there also was a lot of insects in the water. 
 
Third of all, the mobilehomes is placed way to close. Like WAY to close! Never have we experienced a campsite with so little to non space between the mobilehomes. There is absolutely no privacy as you see on other campsites. Really disappointing! 

The campsite really has the potential, because the location is so beautiful near the woods. But we still can’t recommend the campsite, due to the fact that it definitely wasn’t worth the money we spend on 3 nights. 

A huge downside as well was, that the relaxing area outside our mobilehome was one big surface of dirt with no grass but just a lot of rocks. That is definitely not a optimal area for small kids to be playing on.

Disappointing standard

I pickeed this place with little research and just wanted somewhere to stay with our grandkids for a few days. 

We stayed in the six person mobile home and we were six people. The unit was new , spotlessly clean and well equipped. 

I think that I understand some of the critisisms of other reports as we were out of season and the place was far from full. The restaurant ans stores were not functioning but there were really good stores in the nearby town of Bertrix.

The sanitation areas were great and provided hot showers and clean facilities , useful as an overflow with six people in a mobile home.

The staff were very helpful and multilingual.

The outdoor pool and kids play area were good but this was out of season so they will probably get crowded inn seawson.

We had a great stay and found everything super clean and good staff.

We took  our own tent and were allocated a pitch on a small cul de sac with other tents, touring caravans and trailer tents. The pitch had shade during the morning and afternoon, electric hook-up, was close to water and sanitary facilities, and was level, plenty roomy for large tent, car etc. Despite visiting in peak season the washroom had plenty of cubicles and was generally clean and well maintained. 
The pool was very busy all the time, as we visited during the heatwave week in late July, but seemed to be well maintained. We went out during the days, but perhaps more campers (predominantly families) stayed on site as there was a kids club (seemed popular the week we were there). The majority of campers were Dutch or Belgian; campsite staff spoke excellent English. Fresh bread is delivered daily (order the night before) but the campsite's own shop has a very limited range - however there are 2 supermarkets in Bertrix.
The site is well located for visiting the Ardennes region; Bertrix is a pretty town with good amenities approx 1km from the site.

Busy and welcoming family site

I’m sure this site is good off season, but we have just stayed for two nights and to be honest it was a waste of money!
The sight looks lovely on the web site but in reality it was too full. We were given a sloping site near the bottom of the area which took an hour to try to get into it and try to level the motorhome. If we had not been so tired we would have left. 
The sight was mainly for people from the Netherlands and no signs in English.
The pool was too full, restaurant full all the time and toilet and shower blocks dirty !
Children were kicking balls at our motorhome all day and night and we couldn’t wait to leave. Would not visit again as it was expensive and we could not use the amenities.

Too busy in summer holidays

Such a shame as a beautiful location in Belgium but this campsite turns out to be entirely Dutch, everything is in Dutch including site info and kids club/entertainment and the food is Dutch too - not quite what we were expecting on our Belgian stop of our European trip. The sanitary facilities were inadequate, limited kids facilities all out of order and smelly. Pitches are squashed together with no space for kids to play near your tent. Play area, pool and tennis courts were good but that is all. This campsite was definitely the low point of our holiday. 

Poor sanitary facilities, noisy stay

This is a large site that will be busy during July and August. We stayed in our own touring caravan but there were caravans and tents for rental. There is a large swimming pool, a bar / restaurant, and a small shop. bread can be ordered daily.
Although we appeared to be the only English on site we were told that the site would love to welcome more English visitors. The reception staff spoke very good English and the campsite brochure was also written in English.
The site that we stayed on was a little uneven and we had to ask for it to be mowed before we set up! However the staff were very quick to find the gardener and putting it right. (I think that we arrived before he had time to mow our section as he was busy around the site) 
The facilities near us were very clean but the ones near the swimming pool that were used more frequently were not as good.(some children left unsupervised!)
It appears that there are many activities organised for children - one of the things that they had were ranger huts dotted around the site. There was a paint ball area at the side of the campsite but whether or not this was organised by the site I am not sure
The site would be excellent for families who liked to stay around the pool etc, but would, I believe, be too busy for the older couples. An overnight or few. days stay would probably be more suitable.
The campsite is part of the ACSI and Camping cheque organisations so was a very good price for the out of season travellers.  
The camp site was a short drive away from the lovely village / town of Bertrix which had few restaurants / bars/ cafes as well as a small supermarket.

Welcoming campsite

This site is in a very lovely part of Belgium. We had 4 nights.  It was so quiet being early season and looked as though it was very geared up for families in high summer. Forest and countryside views from all pitches. Our only complaint would be that the grass had not been cut for sometime and the swimming pool was still being worked on and we missed that as it was very hot, but facilities and the restaurant were all excellent. 

Peace and quiet

We arrived from France and it looked like a very nice camping. They had last places left for us, we stayed 2nights. But I was very disappointed in price, 71 euro for a place to put up your tent, we had to leave the car in the parking. 
Don't get me wrong, it is a huge campsite with everything you might need. Bar, swimming pool, restaurant, lots of activities for kids, enough showers, toilets etc. But for that much money to put up your tent? We had campings with VERY good quality for lot less and we had private place with space for your car.

It is perfect for families and who will stay longer, otherwise I would look something else.
