Myself and my friends rented the some rooms for the weekend of the tour of Flanders. The host was away for the weekend and entrusted their home to us. Our Belgian friends recommended the property. The house was beautiful and mixture of old and new. The rooms were lovely but the the bathroom is not private. It caused us no issues. There is a bar a one minute walk away. There is a garage to store bicycles and a car park outside where a number a cyclists started there weekend cycle. If you like a rural holiday and a good base to explore the countryside by bike this is the place for you. And the hosts are really nice and accommodating.

Bed in the flanders countryside 

For our stay of 3 nights in Belgium, we had chosen the B&B “Bedlehem” in Everbeek – Brakel.
The B&B is not so easy to find as it is a rural location, it is located behind the church, as it was the “Presbytery” of the priest. We got for our stay the “Gabriel” room, modern concept, with view over the fields and the cemetery, no problem at all because as neighbours they are not noisy. But not at all recommendable for people with a reduced mobility as you have to do some stairs to get to the rooms. As all the rooms are under the roof you have to look to the ceiling to not get bumps on your head. The bathroom is incorporated into the room and also is the toilet this without any separation and no ventilation, the concept can be modern, but we do think that not everybody likes this item. You cannot use the shower head of the bath without spoiling the water into the room (due to fact that you have no curtain and the little place to stand up in the bathtub by the form of the roof). The breakfast was variated and with local products, but it was not overloaded, we were with 3 persons and happy for us we got all a different taste for having the breakfast. We have also to mention that on our arrival we were not registered, during our stay we did not get any form of “Room Service”, and the central heating of our room was shut down during the night. And when we left the B&B the hostess did not presented us any invoice of the amount paid for our stay? This is easy money. As we travel allot and were also the owners from a “legal” B&B with 8 rooms on suite, we do know very well how it has to be managed when you are staying in a hotel or B&B.

A 3 night stay in the Bedlehem B&B

A very nice and good address to spend a good night. You may have some difficulty finding this address because the house is located just off the street. In front of the church Brakel take the small street that runs along the left wall of the church and you will find on your left this B&B. (see photo in the annex) Attention: - the rooms are on the ground floor without an elevator so not recommended for people with reduced mobility or difficulty moving. - the rooms are under the roof, the ceiling is towards the top of the bed and you may hit your head, a simple habit to take.

For a good night's rest

It's always surprising where you can find interesting B&Bs. The Bedlehem is in the Flemish Ardennes somewhere in nowhere - but offers 3 great accommodations. All three rooms are very individually furnished and offer a great view of the beautiful landscape. The hosts are very friendly and have tips for the environment and activities ready. We were lucky enough to have the rich breakfast in the flaming sunshine in the garden. At night in Bedlehem you can also get soft drinks, local beers and wine at extreme civilian prices. Overall, one real tip, two tips (which for me do not lead to a devaluation, but everyone knows that). - The living room and two guestrooms have a great deal of effort to do this. - This does not necessarily mean that it can be achieved under the door or under the bathroom. - This means that at least one can't get a wine or at least one can't get a wine cap at an extreme civilian price.

Nice design B&B in the country.

We really enjoyed our short (one night) stay at B&B Bedlehem. The friendly hosts directly made us feel at home. Both the room and the breakfast (with fresh and local products) were absolutely excellent. I can imagine though that the 'open bathroom' (no door between the - private - bathroom area and the sleeping room) could be a hurdle for some travelers.
