So often when you book accommodation on line you cannot be sure whether it will live up to expectations. However Expo 13 proves that expectations can indeed be exceeded! Didier and Ktlien were warm and welcoming though we were late in arriving off the Eurostar. Expo 13 is an absolute delight. Beautifully restored and lovingly appointed with every convenience considered. The best stocked mini bar we have ever experienced in a B&B. Gorgeous rooms with a wonderful period charm. The breakfast though an additional charge was very well worth it all fresh produce, great selection of teas, fresh coffee and eggs cooked to order by Didier. Centrally located for the Train station, trams and buses. This is somewhere we would happily return to.

A wonderful place to stay!

This place was gorgeous. Tremendous hosts, very clean, gorgeous bath tub, nice little balcony and breakfast was possibly the best one we had the entire week we were in Belgium.  

Right down the street from a great little laundromat too. Great family run business.

Amazing B&B

Expo 13 is right by the station so it is very convenient & you can either get Tram 1 in to the centre or stretch your legs for 30 minutes along the river.  The bed has to be one of the most comfortable I've slept in away from home & I loved the roll top bath.  Breakfast was a lovely mellow experience with fresh baked croissants & eggs to order - just what we wanted.  Ideal for enjoying all the lovely sites Ghent has to offer - too much for our 3 day trip so we're looking forward to returning.  Highlights were the guided tour - witty & informative - & the Dr Guislain museum - not just the history of psychiatry, but yetis in Romania, Tunguska beetles, Blood Test art responses & outsider art & all in a peaceful location on the Tram 1 line.  Also had the best tagine in a long time at Mogador.

Comfortable & convenient

This B&B is fantastic, Didier and Katlien, the owners, are so nice you'll probably want stay there again. The attention to details, the excellent breakfast and the friendliness of the owners make the stay in Ghent a remarkable experience.

Charming and lovely place

We arrived back from Expo 13 and Ghent yesterday evening and were sad to go. What a wonderful stay! Our room (2) was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean - we are missing the balcony this morning. The breakfast is lovely with juice, cofree, fruit and pastries - plus we had eggs in the morning, too. The hosts are lovely and very helpful giving us a map of the city and letting us know where to visit and how... I would visit Ghent again, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here, and to recommend it to family and friends.

Wonderful stay in Ghent

We were really pleased to stay at expo13 for our day trip visit to Gent (one night on a tour of Belgium). Really close to the central rail station and walkable (or tram) into the center.  Expo13 is very stylish, no shower but the bath was lovely for aching legs so no complaints. The host was very helpful, good breakfast.

Good base for visiting Gent

We stayed one night at Expo 13 and wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts are helpful, friendly and informative, giving advice on travel and where to visit and eat in Gent. The room is in a beautiful house and is beautifully decorated with a free standing bath in an en suite bathroom. There are tea, coffee facilities in the room with a mini bar with a very reasonably priced selection of locally drinks and cava. I can't recommend this guest house highly enough. Breakfast is served in a room  overlooking the street and there is a huge amount of choice served beautifully. Cereals, fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, cold meats, hot and cold drinks, chocolates and fresh bread -  with an option for eggs as well. We look forward to returning! 

Fantastic guest house, close to Gent town centre

My wife and I stayed at the lovely Expo 13 bed and breakfast for a week in February. From start to finish, we had a very pleasant experience. Our hosts Katlien and Didier were spectacular and went out of their way to accomodate my early departures for work. They even made a "breakfast to go" for our last day as we had to leave very early for our plane out of Belgium.

The hotel is beautiful and located close to the train station in Gent. The breakfast was great with the usual European goodies like fresh pastries, meat, cheese, yogurt, and so forth. They made eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice every morning!

Our room was a decent size for a European hotel, with an adjoining bathroom. We stayed in room 2, which had a balcony. The only negative of the whole experience was that the tub in the bathroom had a handheld shower head and no shower curtain. Every shower involved some water on the floor!

Our hosts were also helpful with restaurant suggestions, directions, and train times. They were super helpful without being intrusive.

We would definitely stay there again!

A Lovely Place to Stay

I feel I must make people aware of the terrible experience I had with the owner Didier Coene. I had booked and paid for a room in June last year using Booking.com. On the morning we left, Didier asked me to pay, and as I knew I had to pay for breakfast & the City tax I paid his bill with my credit card. I hadn't realised until much later that her'd also taken payment for the room as well. It took almost 10 months of emailing, receiving his excuses, delaying tactics and finally he ignored my please for a refund so I reported him to Booking.com. They apologised profusely and refunded me themselves as he was unwilling to do so. I wonder how many others he has done this to...Please be careful
