This hotel is really not recommended! The pictures are misleading. The situation is really great and it was. The lady who runs the hotel is unfriendly and shameless, I've never really experienced anything like this. The whole hotel is old, fallen down and unmaintained. We were just happy to get away again.

Unfriendly, old and uncared for

the location on the edge of the dunes. the abusive attitude of the owners at the breakfast (15 euros) much too expensive given what we received. the old room and smells of the enclosed, the old brown carpets in the bedroom and bathroom

Didn't like the owner's disgusting attitude!! I've never seen this before. I'm asking for an espresso at breakfast

Used to Westende, we decided to book in this small hotel that seemed charming and super well placed. On this last point, by the way, nothing to say... so we spent 2 nights there with our 2-year-old cocker (which barks very rarely, I'll tell you). The first night, we were woken up at 8am by workers (almost at our window) who took off a scaffolding without worrying about the noise they were making, we found a little regret because we just wanted to enjoy the room but we didn't say anything... We were being tolerated.

A huge human disappointment.

We stopped here for a drink and a snack with my three well behaved children. The owner was rude and said that we could only sit if we had a meal. He was rather gruff but decided to ignore. We sat down waiting to be given a menu to then suddenly hear shouting.  The owner and two other women were shouting at each other. It was in Dutch so I didn't understand but it went on and on. They were so agressive and loud we eventually got up and left.
I'd stay far away from this place.
It's a shame as the beach and dunes are beautiful 

Horrible

A hotel that deserves a nice price, spacious rooms with a beautiful view of the sea and the dunes, a pity for the general heating and not the individual, a varied breakfast but poor bread quality (baker's daughter speaking).

Great location!

This is a very difficult review to write. Over the past few years we have chosen this little hotel in the sand dunes over any other. 
The food has been on the whole good although expect an evening meal with drinks to top £60 per person.
Last year they did something quite bizarre, we booked a room and the placed three mattress sized pieces of foam on top of each other with no base! They classed that as a bed.
Having sort of forgiven them we tried their outdoor drinks service this weekend. 2 glasses of coke and 2 Bacardi totalled £22.00. 
They are a nice family with outdoor views that are so beautiful, however they really know how to charge and have poor rooms.

Very pricey with uncomfortable outdoor seating

The atmosphere here is terrible,... you mean by that very very pleasant, there are few rooms and all overlooking the dunes and the sea, because this establishment is alone, lost in the dunes... you can hardly see, at night, the smugglers' boats,... (at last you imagine..) Lunch more than comfortable and friendly welcome

Lost in the dunes

We happened to arrive at this restaurant at the St Laurence Hotel in Westende and had a nice time at a very good meal prepared by the boss in a restaurant a few steps from the sea.

That's great.

This very small hotel located right in the Westende Dunes is a jewel.
Front rooms right on dunes with smashing sea view.
The food is excellent prepared by the owner.

Excellent located 

On this beautiful sunny Monday at 1:45 p.m. after a nice walk, we picked this small isolated terrace near the beach (1 couple 40-45 years old and 1 couple 60 years old) to have a drink while there were no customers on the terrace. After waiting 20 minutes, a waitress asked us what we wanted and learning that we wanted only four Sangria (9€/glass) waved a plastic sign inserted into a wooden stand where it said enkel restaurant and asked us aggressively to empty the place of a sufficient air. Never have we received such a welcome from a well located but rather banal place.
