We stayed in the tree-house at Domaine de la Carrauterie in September. It is a very cosy and romantic place to spend a night! The surroundings are quit and beautiful. The perfect place to wind down for a weekend. The owner was waiting for us with some drinks when we arrived and a home cooked meal was prepared for us once settled in the tree house. Fun experience to do some time!

Fun and romantic get-away

We can surely recommend a night in “Le Dôme” for everyone who wants to experience a night “outside” in full nature with a magnificent view of the moonlight and stars. This is an open “tent” but complete privacy guaranteed.
The lady of the house made us instantly feel at home, gave us tips about the area (hiking, resto, ...) She was very helpful and friendly. 
Breakfast was sufficient with homemade marmelade, bio products and Home baked bread. 
We will definitely come back ! 

Ps: don’t forget to pack your swimming suit and enjoy a dip in the heated pool (winter) and wellness facilities 😁

Spending an extraordinary night

We had had a very tough few days cycling through Belgium and we came across this wonderful place. The owner welcomed us with open arms, despite being closed, and offered us a choice of accommodation. We chose a gypsy caravan by a field, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal - possibly one of the best I've ever had! The accommodation and hospitality was faultless, and I look forward to the day that we'll be able to return.

An oasis of calm and tranquility

We were cycling through Belgium and it was getting late, but we didn't know where we were staying. I saw a sign for Domaine de la Carrauterie and came upon it. The wonderful owner was technically shut for the night, but welcomed us in all the same. We staying in her little gypsy caravan for the night, and she brought us dinner, some wine and a movie. It was quite possibly one of the most magical stays we've ever had. Not only that, but the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. If there were 10 stars it wouldn't be enough.

The perfect rest

A night in the lovely and well stocked tree hut is nothing short of a fairytale. At night, lying in a hammock ten meters in the air, in the light of the silvery full moon, just watching the shadows play over the pines, it's almost impossible to not feel a sense of tranquility and oneness with nature (although the pretty busy freeway at 250 meters certainly tries its disruptive best!).

The tree house (cabane d'amour/ 'love shack') is specifically for lovers, witness the sweet plethora of hearts and cutesey accesories abounding. The tree house is small, and wherever possible created with natural wood. It is very well provisioned with all the amenities you could wish for: a toilet, shower, even a TV and mini fridge (well hidden so as not to disrupt the wood cabin feel). Do have dinner or breakfast on the balcony! 

The resort provides some hip relaxation options that sometimes open up vistas to other worlds, like a sauna and yakuzi, a Mongolian yurt (free and open all day, really worthwhile!) and a swimming pool in a greenhouse (very smart in the Belgian climate).

One thing though that would have increased our sense of relaxation: it might have been better if management would have included the whole package in one price: that breakfast and yakuzi come at an additional cost, OK, but at the resort's current prices it seems a bit odd that access to the swimming pool, and even rental of bathrobes, towels and flip-flops is extra (which isn't on the website: we were only apprised of this through e-mail, after booking). 

But let this not deter you: this is a lovely place.
The management is kind and hospitable (if at times a bit chaotic: for example there was a truly inordinate amount of communication -mail, phone, web forms- required before the reservation was ultimately finalised with a lot of unclarity and uncertainty for quite a while). As one of us had a birthday we were presented with a complementary bottle of organic wine, which was really nice.

Note that the place and surroundings are predominantly Francophone-only.
