What a wonderful place to getaway and soak in the local history and beauty just a short walk from downtown. Wake to lovely sunshine and birdsong in a super comfortable bed. Great hostess as well who encouraged us to enjoy all aspects of the property. Very helpful suggestions for fine dining and wine!!

Romantic Zen Getaway

Great house within walking distance of the center of spa and close by one of the top restaurants of this city. Also very convenient to walk and visit sources. 
The intimacy is great and we felt as if we were at home.

Great Manor House 

I was given a birthday treat of a weekend in spa and my lovely and fantastic companion booked us into the Suite Manoir at New-Castle for the weekend.  It was absolutely amazing, I felt like a princess.  This suite is absolutely huge and so tastefully done, with enough quirky bits so that it feels like a home rather than some sterile B&B.
The bed is like sleeping on a cloud, the kitchen worked very well and there are plenty of places to sit and relax.
Breakfast was fantastic with top quality pastries, juices and coffees served to us in the room.  What a joy to eat on the spacious balcony in the morning!
The bathroom is amazing and the tub is big enough for two, and I appreciated that we were able to turn on the heat next to the tub because June is not yet so warm in Belgium.
The wifi connection was great.  The location is good, just a short walk into the center or a nice drive through the woods to get your treatments at Spa.
We didn't have any language issues, but we each speak French and my companion Italian, so everything was sorted without using any English.
I absolutely and totally recommend a stay in the Suite Manoir for a special treat for a birthday or romantic weekend, you won't regret it!

Beautiful property and fantastic weekend

We loved our stay here. It was our first wedding anniversary so we wanted to do something special, and this was it - trip to Spa for the weekend. It's a lovely, slightly bonkers English-style manor, complete with wooden staircase, antiques and trophies dotted around the property. If you want to feel a bit Downton Abbey, this is definitely a good place for you to stay.

The B&B isn't easy to find the first time, but we arranged for the owners (Pierre and Marisa) to pick us up from the train station. Once you have your bearings, the rest is very straightforward - you're about a 15 minute walk into the little town of Spa, and about 15-20mins from the Thermes de Spa which are excellent. Pierre speaks French and Flemish, Marisa speaks French and Italian, we chatted in a mixture of French and Italian, but I think both can speak English so I was surprised by previous reviewers saying they'd had communication problems.

We had the hunting suite (the cheaper of the two). It was excellent - big comfy beds, a little kitchenette, flat screen TV and a beautiful bathroom. The room feels very slightly overstyled in its "hunting lodge" thing - lots of antlers on plaques hanging up. But it's funky. The bathroom was incredible - there's a big power shower, a sink nestled in an old tree trunk, another tree trunk in the corner of the room...and a stuffed squirrel (nut in mouth) halfway up it! Towel hooks in the bathroom are actually (deer, I think) legs and hooves, stuffed and cleaned up. As I say, not one for strict vegetarians/the squeamish, but I can pretty much guarantee that this is fairly unique decor that you'll always remember. And the little luxurious touches are nicely and carefully planned - small box of Godiva chocolates on arrival, a posh set of teas in silk teabags, the kitchenette with coffee machine AND Nespresso machine AND kettle AND microwave AND hobs. We didn't self cater as there are nice restaurants in Spa (breakfast was provided and all we had to do was cook the eggs Marisa gave us) but we could easily have done so.

Minor grumbles? Not many. The walk into town is easy enough - downhill to go into Spa, uphill to come back. Others have commented on cash payments, but hey do seem to take cards for pre booking - you pay 50% upfront by credit card (fair enough, they've apparently had some problems with no shows). Breakfast didn't arrive very early on either of the 2 days we were there and we were a bit worried that we wouldn't make it to our first treatment at the spa on time. We did, and it was fine, and we probably should have made it clearer to the owners that we would be up and out at 9am, so would need breakfast from 8am onwards. The owners are terribly sweet and helpful, and really we couldn't have asked for more.

Excellent for a romantic break in Spa. But maybe don't  bring strict vegetarians...

This place is not only one of the most uniquely designed places to stay, but owned by the nicest people you'll ever meet.  The owners picked us up from the station with two cars for all four of us and our luggage.  When she showed us our rooms I was floored, they were beautiful.  My husband and I enjoyed talking to them about all the work they had done and the unique design they had accomplished.  My sister's suite was down the hall from us and we both had a sitting area and kitchen of our own.  Our room had two bedrooms as we had our daughter with us.  We had a beautiful balcony so we all had breakfast in our room every morning.  She gave us such generous breakfasts that we packed lunches for day trips.  We walked to town everyday and took beautiful hikes from the house.  She offered in room massage if we wanted her to call someone but we were constantly on the run.  I would recommend that you do the in room massage and don't have it at the Spa in town, she would be able to translate what you want to the massage therapist.  My relatives live close so we will always stay here when we visit!  We were here in July 2011.

Our castle away from home!

This B&B is situated in an old house. The suite is large, spacious and tastfully decorated with respect for old details. We stayed in 'la suite chasseur' - The hunter's lodge. The bathroom is extraordinary decorated with a cut down tree as support for the wash basins. It has a large luxurious walk in shower as well. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They offer breakfast in the morning, they will bring a tray to your room with delicious croissants, bread buns, tea or coffee, an egg if you want. The suite has a little ensuite kitchenette, where you can frie or cook your eggs to your own liking, make yourself a coffee or tea. They will give you plenty of tips for things to see and do, and where to dine in the area. 
Check out their 'tree lodge' where you can spend a night with a magnificent view over the little river and nearby lake.
