Very kind personnel and good value for money. Very nice region. The dinner was excellent. Still, it is a pity they ask supplements for some dishes. We had not noticed that and had booked half-board. So the tenant decided all supplements were included in half-board. Ask beforehand! Anyway, very nice people and stay. Wifi only possible downstairs, not in the rooms.

The hotel is located in a beautiful region.
We stayed a night during 2nd lockdown in Belgium. We got a reservation confirmation with a lot of details on the current situation: what stores were open,  what the impact of the lockdown on our visit  would be so all clear upfront.
Room was lovely, service was smooth and with a smile & the diner  and breakfast was very good.  
So very nice experience , even in challenging times!

Excellent place

We visited this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary, having stayed here 25 years ago when we got married. And what a great choice it was yet again. The food is superb. We had dinner at the hotel every evening. Ample choice on the menu for a different meal each day, though we repeated our choices as food was so delicious. Breakfast is served buffet style with free flowing coffee and tea. 
The staff are lovely. Above all the owner makes it special. She is welcoming and puts a personal touch to it all. Thank you Carole we will be back. That’s a promise.

Verry friendly staff, good breakfast with lots of coffee ,cake,pie,fruits etc👍😘, divine diner in a beatiful setting and good place to start walks in the forrests

Auberge aan de Semois

A very nice find in the Ardennes. Have been looking for a place since our old trusted hotel closed down. We found it! And what a find!  First: A lovely host! True and generous hospitality. Second: A clean, comfortable, cozy room. Third: A very good kitchen and a cozy bar. Lots of fun and a great place to relax. Overall: a great atmosphere and a great base from which to explore the Ardennes, with parking and a pleasant village only a few short steps away.  Thanks for everything!! A memorable stay. An honest price. We will be back!

What a good find!

What went well:
A charming guesthouse at the foothill of Ardennes, with the view over the Semois river, this hotel was our choice primarily due to its location close to hiking trail in the surrounding hills. The hotel features free parking on the adjacent territory.
The building itself is not that large, so there was no feeling of overcrowding. The rooms were nice, however, there are some age-related issues. Good quality of housekeeping, the room was sparkling clean. Small bottles of drinking water were refreshed daily.
Soft beds, we slept like babies.
The breakfast was good and enough to set one for the day (albeit I would consider swapping hard-boiled eggs for eggs made to order).
The dinner was rather nice, with decent choice of wines and courses. I would consider it a good-value dinner by the local standards.
Finally, the owner personally meets guests and she is genuinely very passionate about her hotel and restaurant - great thing, which is rare nowadays.

What didn't go well:
The bathroom in the room didn't have a working exhaust, and it was a bit challenging around the shower, as the configuration was not ideal for embarking/disembarking.
Soundproof was not exactly the strongest side of this hotel (albeit given it was a historic building, I do understand this is part of its character).
WIFI wasn't working (albeit there was an amplifier point right by the door).

Decent value in Ardennes

Although visiting Bouillon , we chose to stay in this place in Alle sur Semois , as it looked so nice. Surrounded by nature and a river. It is quite special. The hostess is quite a character and perhaps would do well on stage.😀
The only downside for me was that the bed was too soft for my bad back. Not the hotels fault, but it dampens the experience.

Beautiful location

Spent a couple of days in the Auberge d'Alle.  Unfortunately the 'weather gods' were not with us during our stay and it rained for 3 days consecutive.  BUT the warm reception and continuous smile of proprietor Carole H. made us feel immediately welcome.  We were shown to our room which we found small (especially the bathroom) but absolutely clean and at the front of the building with view on the Semois river.

The food was gorgeous and the service impeccable and always with a smile!  The friendliness of Carole is apparently contagious and shared with the entire staff.

Certainly worth your while to stay in the Auberge d'Alle!

A warm welcome

We booked via email. I explained I had a disability, and needed a room with shower, we had booked for 2 nights, they replied, ok but it’s on the first floor, without a lift. I said no problem for 1st floor, but when we arrived the lady on reception whom I assumed was the boss, told us she had not received the email, this was not true, as I had the email on my computer. Anyway I struggled up to the second floor was shown the room which was very small. She told me she would see if I could have the room on the first floor the next day,I thought what’s the point for one night. When we checked out on reception they told us sorry no credit cards, this was displayed nowhere, the dinner was average, but the breakfast was very good, service excellent room clean, had a decent place to park the car.
