Friendly owner Hugo, very clean, good ventilator, close to downtown, good wifi. Free filtered water.
Only slight downside was the entrance procedure; the door downstairs is locked. Luckily a lady who stayed in the hostel let us in and the manager arrived shortly afterwards. 

Nice place to stay

I gave it 5 stars from a value point of view. The beds and showers are not perfect etc but what you get for the price is on point. It is a 1 minute safe walk from where all the restaurants are and the tour operators . The picture is of Burns Avenue (same street) where the restaurants are

Safe , friendly, family setting, ultra central

Located right in the heart of San Ignacio, Western Guesthouse is a nice,  secure,  clean place to stay. Putting all the adventure around town right in your reach.  The host was also very helpful in providing guidance to explore the area.

Nice, secure and clean place

Spent four nights in total here while travelling with our kids. The owners were helpful and answered all our questions by email and in person. Room was clean, a/c was great, hot water was nice. Beds were a little too soft for our liking but that’s personal preference and we still slept just fine.  We weren’t renting a car so wanted something in town. Nice location just down from the bus station and tour centres which made it easy to come back for breaks from the sun. Saw others needing to cab it up hills to their hotels, so we are happy we stayed in town.

Good central location, nice atmosphere

I booked a room for 4 nights in the Western Guest House primarily because of the positive reviews and I'm glad I did. You won't find a better bang for your buck in Belize. The location is excellent, just minutes from the main downtown area and the market, as well as a large variety of bars and restaurants. You can tell the place is a bit older, but the room and bathroom were sparkling clean. The new owners are gradually updating small things the rooms (like the pillows and TVs) so things will continue to improve. Hugo the manager is very friendly and helpful and can answer any questions you have. My room was quiet but if you have the misfortune of being there with louder guests you will definitely hear them - not a problem during my stay though. Internet will also drop out fairly often but that's just the way it is in Belize.

Best value in San ignacio!

We could walk everywhere and were quite close to the market, restaurants (and great street food) and the bus station. Jovian was readily available to answer questions and concerns,  he also provided fruit, cold water, coffee coconut water.  we would certainly stay here again.

Great location, friendly host, secure and comfortable lodging

I arrived at the San Ignacio bus station. I took a taxi to the Western. But it is only 2 1/2 blocks away, so I could have walked! hahaha! My TV never did work, but that's ok, there were better things to do in Belize.
It is a guesthouse, so there is a big kitchen with microwave and coffee pot etc. that you can use, or you can keep food in the big fridge. Often there are fellow travelers sitting around the table talking.
The place is a little bit dated, but it had good AC, and great hot water. Some of the rooms are right off the shared kitchen or shared living room. If you want a quiet room, ask for one down the hallway.
I asked the manager were he recommended to eat, and he recommended what seemed to be the most expensive place in town. Why didn't he just tell me to walk one block to the walking street were all the restaurants were located? Who knows, but pretty annoying. 
Right at town center near the bus stop is a couple taco stands. Great authentic food and you can eat for a couple dollars. Only 2 blocks from the Western.

This was an odd place. Everything was fine with the rooms, the WiFi was strong and the hostel had all the amenities one might expect - kitchen, washing facilities etc. 

We just didn’t know what was going on though. It was never clear who was working there and it took us about three days to find someone to pay. All a bit disorganised but when the staff were there they were helpful. 

Slightly odd place but good facilities 

The Western Guest House was a decent budget hotel.  It was an easy walk for the place where our bus dropped us off (Belize City Water Taxi to San Ignacio Shuttle Bus) and to the main bus station in town.  Upon arrival there the door to the entrance was locked but it was not long before the manager happened to open it, just about at the same time my companion made a call to him from a near by shop.  Once the entry/exit procedures were outlined our stay went quite well.  The room was not very large and the bathroom was small and fairly clean (there were a couple of large beetles in the shower drain at night but nothing was noticed elsewhere).  There was a communal kitchen which we used for breakfast and storing drinks and snacks  in the refrigerator.  The hotel has a small deck overlooking the street.  The location was good, it was right on the edge of the main down town area and easy walking to restaurants, shops, bus, tour operators and the local sites.  Good value for the money, cleanliness, housekeeping were reasonable, the location very good, the manager provided good service.
