The best stocked hostel kitchen I've ever stayed in! It's nice to have all the pots and utensils necessary! The small hostel creates a very communal atmosphere. Tons of seating in common areas as well. Thanks so much!

Welcoming hostel

I am traveling in a group of 6 and this hostel was amazing for our group of young adults. Simple and easy to find. Host helped us get connected to a good tour company and kitchen was open for use. Hostel is a 2 minute walk from a market and bakery.

Group of 6 was welcomed

I stayed in the hostel in the high season of Lençois Maranhenses.
I was very looking forward to scenic flight and could reserve the tour the day before.
However, one of their staff let the taxi driver, who came to the hostel to pick me up go back.

It was the final day for me in Barreirinhas and finally could not join the tour.
I am Japanese and it takes about 2 days only to go there from Japan.
I think that it will be difficult for me to visit there again.

The staff screwed up my plan and never apologized for his mistake.
I think that this problem occurred partly because I could not speak Portuguese and the staff could not understand English well.
However, I thought what made the hostel different was that the owner was English teacher.
In other words, I reserved the hostel to avoid such troubles.

I really would like other people from outside of Brazil not to have the same experience as I had.

Screwed up my plan completely

A five-minute walk from the centre and the beach where there is all the activity (barreirinhas is very small). It is very simple but clean. The staff is very nice and the professor gets involved when there is atmosphere. We were lucky enough to coincide with a group of lively travelers and it was very nice!

No, I do not recommend it.

I spent two nights at the Casa do Professor and I highly recommend it. A small hostel that doesn't cost a dime at first but where you quickly feel at home thanks to the warm welcome of the Professor. The Professor speaks English but also French, he is always ready to give information about tours, transportation...and above all to share a moment with travelers. Super breakfast, clean nickel, nice little garden where you can also spread your laundry, shared kitchen with everything you need to cook.

This hostel is the perfect place to meet other travelers and feel at home! Super welcome the Professor who doesn't hesitate to sit with the backpackers around a good beer, distill great advice and tell good jokes ;) It's rather rare, it makes it easy to get together! Outside of this original aspect, lhostel has everything you need: a good ptit dej, comfortable dormitories at low price and cleanliness without flaws (well on, there is sand in the bathrooms, normal! baririnhas is built from sand and all the towers to do in the backyard are based on places, corners and beaches). I'll go back without hesitation and I strongly recommend the song: In the desert, I'll go back without a doubt and I'll sing: Ps:)

That's really cool.

This is one of those rare places that you are hoping to find on your backpacking trips. One of those places where the atmosphere is great, where all the guests feel at home and where everyone socialises. AND where the owner plays guitar and sings at night. I loved my stay here!

small hostel with amazing atmosphere

It's a small hostel, which makes it very cozy. during breakfast the use of cell phones is prohibited, something I see for the first time in a hostel and which I think is great because it encourages the integration of those staying, which in the end is the purpose of a hostel I believe. Speaking of breakfast, it's one of the best I've seen in Brazil.

 Unique location!

We spent three nights in this hostel. The place is very nice and original with a small garden, hammocks. The hostel is in a house which makes the place quite unusual. However, I found that the rooms were a little overcrowded: they are quite small and there are beds in the smallest space, adding backpacks to the floor it became very complicated. Lack of hygiene also in the bathrooms and the ceiling is open (space between the wall and the beginning of the ceiling), this one is filled with dust and spider veils.
