I have stayed at Trem Azul numerous times over the last several years, and it is undoubtedly one of the best Hostels – type Hotels in Belo Horizonte with both standard rooms and full ensuites accommodations! I have had “stays” of both a few day accommodations and lived there for several months.  It is great either way! Located in the historic Santa Teresa neighborhood it is conveniently located to “anywhere” within Belo Horizonte and has everything locally for either day or night life!  A classic traditional neighborhood with a rich history of food, music, street side bars and restaurants, shopping and convenient busing and/or uber availability.  The facility itself is very nice with all the necessities and conveniences.  It is very well maintained, decorated, operational and staffed with all the hospitality Mineiro’s are known for and more.  The owner, Leonardo, is most helpful, lives on site, and is extremely fluent in English, and I expect Spanish too – while being a native Portuguese speaker.  Highly recommended, and even a great place to just take a break and get away for a weekend.  In the heart of Santa Teresa, doesn’t get any better than this!  Aproveitar!!

Trem Azul the BEST!

The facilities are well designed and decorated extremely nice – like being at home!   Beautiful old home in the Santa Tereza (music, food, cultural mecca, parks, and famous Bolao restaurant) neighborhood of Belo Horizonte.  Very professionally done; outstanding quality and service.  The owner and many guests (resident Brit is there, met a wonderful couple from Poland) speak wonderful English and the staff are a delight.  Accommodations are outstanding.  Everything is planned and executed extremely well!  High regards and recommendations!  BTW, the courtyard has a "quintal" area where a "pergoaldo" type structure exists from an "ora pro nobis" type plant-tree!  Neat!

Leo and the staff at Trem Azul are awesome! The beds were comfy and clean and they even had free bfast. Leo goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy Belo. I wouldn’t look any further and just book this one knowing it’s a solid option in a good location. Cheers Leo!

Great hostel! Super clean facilities and great security

A very Nice hostel! The hostel lies in a very safe part of belo horizonte, two stops With The metro from The central station. I think The hostel is very clean and The Staff is extremely helpful. Good breakfast aswell The only bad thing Was that their printer did not work :)

Perfect 

Only the most experienced of’ traveler recognizes how hard it is to find a place that ticks all the boxes and more.
This outfit's presentation, staff with their level of English which would put a good few Brits to shame, décor, hygiene and excquisitely presented breakfast , would leave most  local 4 star hotels in its’ tracks.
The perfect location in one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, backed up by 6 closeby, of the locals’ favorite pastime, barlife, adds to the package.
Thr star of the show is Leonardo, whose attention to detail is second to none, even offering sugar free diets. . His ace card however, being a native Horizontien, is his umatched knowledge of the city's heartbeat, wehatever your preference, art, opera , architecture, dance etc etc, he will get you straight to the pulse of the action permitting you to save endless hours of walking and research. Even the chunkiest of travel guides can not come close to this invaluable knowledge.
Whilst I would love to keep this as my own secret jewel in the crown of Minas accomadation, Hostel 300 deserves to be known, skip it at your own peril, .

The unquestionable leader in Hostel accomadation

It's a very nice place to rest. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. It has a very good location, it's close to the Gloria metro station. It's very close to a shopping mall and the bus terminal. I only have one observation.... I stayed there for two nights and had breakfast included. However, for the two days I had to leave before 7am, asked if it was possible to take some of the breakfast the day before to carry, like a fruit or a loaf of bread to eat on the way, however, he told me that it was not possible, and that he had to pay an additional price for it. (Reiterate, breakfast was included in the price of the reservation).

Clean and super comfortable.

Very nice staff, Leonardo and Daniel give me a lot of tips and the breakfast is very good. The atmosphere is very good also, I stayed on a private room (very quietly on the night). The access to buses and metro are very easy, bus is on the door and metro is some meters away.

Very nice staff, neighborhood and hostel

I didn't know the other hostels, but I loved it. The staff was excellent. Josué and another guy who I don't remember the name. Super helpful. Attentive, very knowledgeable about everything. The basic breakfast but clean though sometimes I see the garbage dump. The place is safe. It's dark when I get out of the subway but I didn't have any incidents and that's what happened at midnight.

Thanks to all the staff there! Daniel is super sound guy, with lots of advice and smiles. Really clean and in a perfect area. Brilliant service and breakfast, and wonderful garden area. Got a bus from the front door to the central market, and easy to walk around and find cool drink. Top place 10/10! Thanks guys!

Super hip :)

Super hostel I recommend. Very good quality price ratio. Located in Santa Tereza which is a nice neighborhood of Belo Horizonte and close to the metro station, so it is easy to get to the center. The hostel is very clean and the pitty dej very well!
