Comfortable room, relaxing environment, good customer service, good price. 
The coffee break was great. They take care of everything. The location is a little bit far from the city, but it is not a problem. I would recommend this for a friend.

Very good stay near Inhotim

This is a great place to stay near Inhotim.  The room was lovely and very clean and the pool and grounds fantastic.  The food was very good with lots of vegetables and salads on offer. I have to say the Staff at this hotel are fantastic.  The welcome and service during our stay was warm and friendly. I can imagine people from Brazil returning year after year.
My daughter left her iPod and they could not have been more helpful getting it sent to Panama for us.  They went beyond the normal service expected.  Thank you so much.

Fantastic Customer Service

I was very mixed on this place and felt it didn't live up to the photos. The advantages: The food (breakfast and dinner) was good, and dinner was free for the kids and reasonably priced for adults. The owner and the staff were very nice. The common spaces are not fancy, but there is a lot of space: a pool, a kids' playroom, a tv room, a large patio, a small lake, and a playground. They offered very short horse and/or carriage rides for the kids. The disadvantages: The place is a little run down and old, the room we stayed in did not fit 4 comfortably (they blocked off the closet with a second bed), and the room/bathroom was not attractive at all. I agree with the other reviewer that for $100 max. it would have been a good deal. But we paid far more than that for a family (closer to $200 though with a discount for paying cash). But there are not a lot of good options near Inhotim - we stayed in estalagem do mirante, which was fancy but very expensive, for one night, and in the estrada real palace hotel, which had less run down rooms, but was louder (in town).

A decent option near Inhotim

OK, I know I wrote "Great" and yet gave the hotel "only" 4 "stars". Let's say, right off the bat, there's always room for improvement - and as far as I understand, the hotel owner is aware of this. Actually, no biggies, but beds are already a bit worn (mine was OK, but my daughter's was just really too soft from use) and the showers could use replacement (which I understand Mr. Márcio Mol is doing). Also, why not hope that one day the hotel will accept credit cards as payment. Also, I am a very early riser - which should be normal on a farm - but couldn't get any coffee before 7 a.m. I saw the mists rising from the nearby valleys anxious for the wonderful breakfast which only begins at 8 a.m.

But let's go for the "great" parts - 1st explaining that I was one of the parents accompanying a group of young singers who did a wonderful presentation at exceptionally pleasant Inhotim Institute - one of the must place visits in Brazil nowadays. We stayed 2 nights and I'm not sure how the other few guests who slept over on the 2nd night felt about not too rambuctious mostly young ladies between the ages of 8 - 15. We really did not stay much at the hotel - so I'm not sure how long the girls would have taken to get bored - they didn't take advantage of the horses or of the pool, cause when we were at the hotel it was already too cool. Not sure I would recommend improving the leisure area as going to Inhotim takes at least a whole day.

The owners had an excellent idea offering as their main meal plan breakfast and dinner. The food was just fantastic homey food. The caipirinhas with local cachaça Brumado Velho were top notch! As I wrote before, I think breakfast at 8 a.m. is too late - but I guess it just takes a while for the employees to arrive at this somewhat remote location. I didn't hear anyone else complaining.

As far as location goes - the town of Brumadinho really needs improvement, if compared to Inhotim and to this hotel. The signage to get to Horizonte Belo is very good, though one has to know that they will face at least 2 or 3 miles of dirt road. It was OK during dry season, not sure how things go during the rainy season. 

The views and settings, as others have already pointed out, are great and give one that feeling of "getting away from it all". I just loved watching the morning clouds rise from the sofa on the main porch (I just wish I had had coffee at 5:30 a.m. - one day at about 7 I walked to the kitchen and asked for some). Birds have their small nests near the main porch and I enjoyed their song and flying dance. Just so relaxing!

Though the hotel receives foreign visitors, the owner admits knowing only some English. But since his team is so friendly, if there are no serious problems, I'm sure all will go well with visitors from anywhere. 

I think what really stands out is that in our group everyone felt at home!

Great for a group!

It is a simple place to stay and in the middle of a farm. It is very close to Inhotim (9km, ~15min). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are good but don´t expect sophisticated food.

They have horses you can ride and small tracks you can walk around the farm. They also offer sauna and a swimming pool. Staff is nice.

I recommend it for one night and if you are planning to visit Inhotim. The price is higher than I would expect for a place like this (~US$150-200). The fair price would be US$100.
