Villa Balthazar is not jus a fabulous place to stay,  it is an embrace. The warmth of the hosts and the staff, coupled with attention to detail and imaginative decor, is remarkable. Old World meets New World. The location, by the beach and a short stroll to all the Centre has to offer, is equal to none. Soberbo

An Embrace.

What a home away from home, lovely place, big room with cosy sitting area, lots of special touch’s and quirky details, close to everything and best breakfast I’ve ever had. Stayed an extra day (5 in total) just to experience it more. Petra couldn’t do enough for me and as a solo female traveller, first time on my own in Brazil, the warm welcome made me feel right at ease and almost part of the family. Would highly recommend Villa Balthazar, price/quality is hard to be beaten and has excellent wifi

Fantastic, home away from home

Villa Balthazar is a small part of Europe/Sweden hidden in a secluded corner of Búzios!! The Villa is charming, decorated with such good taste, and casual chic. The small garden is full of lovely trees, plants and flowers!
Our hosts, Petra and Felix are  just perfect! Nothing is too much trouble for Petra, who is everywhere and busy all the time attending to her guests, always with a smile and time to exchange a few words with the guests.
The cherry on the cake  is breakfast, everything is homemade: yoghurt, different kinds of jam, granola, bread, croissants, orange juice, and every day, besides the daily fruit salad and egg, a different small pastry was offered.
Even though the Inn is on a very calm and secluded street, it is within walking distance of the famous Rua das Pedras and its boutiques and restaurants, so you have the best  of both worlds!
My husband and I spent some lovely days at Villa Balthazar and, as the weather wasn't very helpful, we had the bonus of a lovely place to be safe from the rain! We will most certainly return!

What a lovely stay!!

We spent a New Year's trip at Villa Balthazar a while back and had such a wonderful experience — highly, highly recommended. 

Location: Across the road from the sea and a beautiful beach, a few minutes walk into town, perfect location. So much to do and see in town when it comes to restaurants, shopping, bars, clubs, boat excursions, etc. 

Accommodation: Lovely, clean and quiet rooms surrounding a beautiful courtyard with a pool off to the side. 

Food: The breakfasts are INCREDIBLE, there is no other way to put it. Everything is locally grown/sourced (I believe some from the hosts' own garden) and homemade that morning, right down to the yoghurt! I would suggest skimping on dinner to make room — you will not be underfed! 

Hosts: Petra and Felix are the best part — ask them anything, they are always happy to help and give you recommendations. Very kind and accommodating people with adorable, well-behaved children :)

Beautiful accommodations with wonderful hosts

We, family of four, stayed with Petra and Felix before we relocated from Rio to Lisbon. We would always come back, also in these uncertain times - especially in these times - because this unique place is full of humanity, surrounded by beautiful nature and completed by excellent hospitality. May the force be with you!

HOSPITALITY, HUMANITY & BEAUTY

We as a family have been several times to stay at Villa Balthazar whilst staying in Buzios. The place is perfectly situated with a short walk to the busy streets of Rua das Pedras with all its shops and restaurants.

The place is unique because of its homely feeling and friendly owners Petra and Felix. It resembles a Boutique hotel, nicely decorated and just the right size. Being there as a family worked perfectly as it has a nice pool and court-yard with open space. This together with things you can borrow for a day at the beach makes it ideal when travelling with kids.

One of the highlights is the breakfast. As they have their own sourdough bakery you will enjoy excellent bread together with all the extras. The bakery in it self is worth an extra stop (just a mile away) when in Buzios.

So if you are looking for a high quality place to stay with that little bit of "extra" then you should certainly come here.

Fantastic setting and service

Having stayed as a family with two daughters (aged 2 and 4) at Villa Balthazar on two occasions in 2019 and 2020; we can't wait to get back!

Just 300 meters from the centre and 50 meters from one of Buzios, in our opinion the best beaches, Petra and Felix small boutique hotel is the perfect retreat for families as well as couples looking for a romantic retreat. 

Located in a small villa which has been portraited in multiple interior magazines with a beautiful garden, a nice pool, and a garden house—the rooms are furnished in a tasteful mix of antique and modern art and pieces of furniture from all over the world. 

The breakfast alone also is a reason to stay at Villa Balthazar. Served on the terrasse in the lush garden you will experience Petras homemade Yoghurt and juices, (which are a sent from heaven) and fresh bread from Petra and Felix own bakery. 

What truly makes Villa Balthazar unique, though, is Petras dedication in making sure all guests are happy with their stay. She really does her best in accommodating every possible need you might have like finding a doctor when your children are sick, booking trips and excursions, and borrowing her private bike when you can't find one to rent.

We really can't recommend Villa Balthazar enough!

The best hotel in Buzios!

If you are looking for a place where you can feel private and familiar at the same time Villa Balthazar is the place for you. Petra, Felix, Chloe, Leon, Silvia and their dog Bella will take the best care of you. Their love for hospitality and decoration aswell as homemade cooking and products is shown in every detail. The breakfast is all homemade with organic products and all delicious. They also have a fantastic bakery in town - Balthazar Bakery. The rooms are beautiful and Silvia is always smiling and doing a great job at the same time. Can't recommend enough!

Very unique place

In a beautiful and cozy house on a quiet street, few steps from the center, Petra and Felix received us wonderfully for 5 days with everything we wished for. The best bakery in town belongs to them and for breakfast they serve us a feast! Natural fermentation breads, jellies, cakes, pies, yogurt, granola, organic coffee, juices, cheeses.. lovely! The room was very comfortable with a beautiful decor, smart tv and nice amenities. We will certainly be back!

 In every respect according to description. Overwhelming hospitality. Petra, Felix and family live their idea and let their guests participate completely. We stayed for ten days and felt absolutely at home. Even special requests - for example: almond milk - got happily fulfilled. „Lady Bountiful“ Silvia took care of our room in an excellent manner. Whenever we get back to Búzios we will return to this fantastic place!
