The Hostel: The location is fantastic and the rooms are fine enough and cleaned every day. There's also a hammock outside of each room which is nice for chilling and reading. 

The Service: When we stayed on Boipeba, all the phone land lines were down which meant that about 2 places on the island accepted credit cards. Vera (the owner) was especially helpful in letting us charge a meal to the pousada and then figuring out how to pay her afterwards when others were losing their cool. Very very helpful. 

I heard from other travelers that accommodation elsewhere was extortionate so this pousada is a good deal but don't book through booking.com! It's easy walking distance to some truly magical endless beaches.

4 star service but maybe a 3 star hostel.

This is a simple Pousada (inn) with the basic services offering good value for money.
The little village on the island o Boipeba is literally packed with Pousadas. When you come close to the pier every other house is a Pousada. Competition is tough when they pretty much look the same. Velha Boipeba is a couple hundred meters from the main square on the street towards the south. Also on the way to the tractor's stop - transportation to the best beaches.
A few changes could really make a difference to this Pousada. First has to do with the way it was developed, like a long outdoor corridor with a string of rooms. As the plot is really narrow very little light gets to your room and in the late afternoon, mosquito time, you would welcome some natural light. In the room there is only one  light bulb which can be too much or not enough but rarely adequate. The sheets they use, the kind with an elastic around the mattress, tend to come out all the time and you find yourself sleeping on THE mattress.
Breakfast is generous and included in the rate and the staff are frindly and available to help.
Doesn't sound good enough? It was fine and I would stay with them again. Good value for money.
