We found Vila Suzana online and decided to check it out during our visit to RS.
The staff is very nice and helpful, the breakfast was probably my favorite part of the stay. The location is perfect, in a very quiet and upscale neighborhood were you can ride the bikes that the hotel provides you and quickly get downtown. 
Beds were very comfortable. My only complains are the smell of mold and humidity that, although we know it's almost impossible to get rid of in Brazil, was very strong and the fact that when room service came in in the morning to clean they never changed our towels.  Need/want clean towels, you need to call or go get them in the office.  
Other than that, very nice place.

I chose the Vila Suzana, as it seemed a different hotel than others the gardens, and the vegetation, the quiet surroundings, the chalets are cozy, even if not luxurious, but it is worth the stay and breakfast is excellent, my best choice in Canela and less expensive than Gramado, ....go for it.

We've recently returned from Vila Suzana Parque Hotel in Canela and had a wonderful time.
The hotel is in a beautiful, quiet part of town - a pleasant 15 minute walk from the centre of Canela.
You would think you were in the middle of Europe rather than Brazil - cobbled streets and German/ Austrian style buildings.
There is a very relaxed, village type feel to the whole area ( including nearby Gramola, a short 10 minute drive away.
Canela is conveniently central for local attractions, including waterfalls, forest walks, child friendly themed attractions and many chocolate manufacturers.
However the real highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the hotel itself!
The villas are really comfortable with great beds and wonderful outlooks over the grounds and (in our case) the big koi pond.
Hotel managers James and his sister Carolina make you feel absolutely at home and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The hotel provides fantastic breakfasts in a lovely setting either inside or out and with homemade 
cake as part of the fayre every day! (a first for us but what a great way to start the day!)
We could not recommend this hotel highly enough - great setting, wonderful food, plenty of amenities, handy for town, fantastic value and finally - the nicest and most helpful people you could possibly meet - James, Carolina, all the staff, and Tito (James and Carolina's father) - what a top bloke!

A great time in Canela

Wonderful hotel and even better staff!
Hotel is set in a beautiful, spacious, park like area, with plenty of room and all amenities within close proximity.
We stayed in a two bedroom, two bathroom bungalow and it was very comfortable for my family (including a two year old) and my parents. Rooms were big enough, cleaned daily and with very comfortable beds.
The best part of the Suzana experience was the wonderful welcome at breakfast (and the breakfast!) every morning. Owner, Tito and son James, made us feel like part of the family as we sat and enjoyed the impressive breakfast spread everyday. 
Great place for families to relax and unwind, highly recommend.

Beautiful, quiet park hotel in leafy Canela. Very spacious bungalows, very clean, wonderful bathroom... Everything you would expect from a four star accomodation. But the real beauty of this hotel is in the detail : wonderful breakfast, smiling and friendly staff, free quality bikes, hammocks, an inside heated pool, a safe deposit box in the room, perfect wifi.... The kolibris and butterflies are all over the beautiful large gardens. Siblings James and Catharina are the most charming hosts who will make you feel welcome immediately. Part of the family.  Price / quality this hotel is superb! I stayed for ten days. If I didn't have to leave, I would have stayed right here. Five stars for me *****
