good vibes

The hostel is super nice: the mattresses are new, bedding is clean, decor is cool. Breakfast is very good. The location is also great, about 10 minutes walking to the quadrado and close to a supermarket and lots of places where you can get food. Wifi works very well.
But the very best thing about this place - which for me is the most important thing about any hostel - is the atmosphere. You just feel welcome and at home, and every single person I met there was lovely. Guto, the owner, is one of those amazing hosts who can make everyone feel good about being in his place.
I am sure my experience in Trancoso would not have been as nice had I not stayed at Balaio. I highly recommend it and would definitely go back.

Fantastic experience 

The atmosphere at the hostel is very warm and relaxed. You feel like you're visiting a friend. Gutemberg spells a super nice breakfast. The bunk beds are new and generously designed. We fell in love and want to come back. :)

Like with good friends

A new hostel, very nice and with a very good atmosphere, in which you feel at home, and very clean. It is worth noting the dedication and affection that Guto has put into every detail to make this a pleasant and welcoming hostel. Carol and Guto are amazing people who will accompany you to know Trancoso and its beaches and help you with everything you need. Excellent location, 10 minutes from the square, with all the necessary services nearby, with wifi and a well-equipped open kitchen. A place with good vibes, ideal for traveling solo or with friends and wonderful people and making friends for life, where different languages have never been an obstacle!

A unique place!

We were with 5 people in the end of December guests in Guto's Hostel Balaio. He was always friendly and helped us always if we had questions to trancoso or to to citys around. The Hostel is very new, the beds are very cozy and the breakfast was everyday a little bit different. We had beautfil days on the beach which guto or friends of him showed to us and which we probably wouldn't have known without him. The hostel is very good located, in about 5-10 min walk you're ate the main place the "quadrado". For sure i will return to this awesome place.

The best Hostel and the best Hostelowner

We had a great time in Balaio Hostel. Everybody in the hostel was very nice, they give you very good information and tips about Trancoso, its beaches, where to go, what to do, how to go... The hostel is new, comfortable and cosy. Wifi works very well and you can use a computer they have for guests. In a place so expensive as Trancoso, it is great that you can find places as Balaio Hostel. If we come back to Trancoso, we will definitely stay in Balaio Hostel again!!
