The more trips I book, the more I appreciate how well thought out and how well run our Juma Amazon Lodge experience was from pick-up to drop off. Every room has a great view, beautiful layout, WiFi, tours are interesting and informative, hot showers, cold filtered water, friendly and attentive staff, and great meals. Fellow travelers are from all over the world and guides are extremely knowledgeable. We learned about dozens of birds (that our guide Ralf called down to us!), hand-fed monkeys (he also called those down), saw sloths, and watched him call for and then jump into the water (!) to fetch caimans for us to touch. Plus hiking, fishing, sunrise views from a watchtower, learning about the plants and trees and Indigenous history in the Amazon, and sampling grubs for the truly adventurous. (We had a wine expert in our group, she recommended Pinot Noir or Sancerre as a pairing for the grubs. 😂) Also, no mosquitoes in that part of the Amazon was terrific. You will love this place!

Still one of our best vacations!

Excellent lodge in the heart of Amazon, very peaceful like it should be in the jungle. They gave beautiful, cute bungalows fur their guests and the staff goes above and beyond to take care of their customers.  Due to acidity if the water, there are no mosquitoes around the lodge. It had beautiful lobby area, area with hammocks to relax snd excellent pool area to dusk in or just have a drink and tss as ke or easy. The plus side compared to other lodges in the area is they have hot water shower which might be necessary depending upon where you come from s as bd they take utmost care of vegetarians like ourselves. You are not being fed just rice, beans s as bd salad. They give you options of what you would like for your dinner (starter, main course, dessert etc) and their chef would be happy to make it even if it’s just for 2 people, so you are well fed.  All the activities are very well planned with their absolutely amazing native guide Ralph, who speaks really good English, is extremely knowledgeable and dies not mind going out of his way to make you happy.  You will do more than what your itinerary says. We had a great time at every single activity we did on our 3-night itinerary, The main tour guide Ralph and his buddy Sargento did a superb job showing us around. They have a little medicine room also should someone need something in the middle of the jungle. Customers are their priority and the fact that this lodge is in the heart of Amazon makes it one of the best location to be at.  If you are a vegetarian, close your eyes and book this place although they take great care of non- vegetarians also.

Our trip to Amazon Juma Lodge was incredible, thanks to our awesome guide Nelson! He was with us every step of the way, sharing his deep knowledge and love for the Amazon. Nelson's enthusiasm made our adventures even more exciting, and his friendly nature made us feel right at home. With Nelson leading the way, our experience was truly unforgettable. We're so grateful for the memories we made at Amazon Juma Lodge with such a fantastic guide!

Best place in Amazon

"An incredible stay at Juma Lodge! The setting is breathtaking, seamlessly blending luxury with authentic eco-rustic charm. The food was exceptional, with a wide variety and generous portions. The staff were incredibly friendly, and our guide, Leon, was simply AMAZING! His encyclopedic knowledge and infectious enthusiasm made our rainforest experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!"

Where Luxury meets authentic eco rustic charm

Juma has -excellent- guides such as Nelson who affably and knowledgeably work their butts off to show you the river and the rainforest.  The food is solid buffet style.  They have some nice Chilean and Italian wines.  The location is deep in the rainforest along the muddy Rio Juma - teeming with piranha and caimans and dolphins and the rest of the big Amazon fauna.  Every day is heavenly, albeit hot.  Don't complain about the lack of AC.  It's the way it should be.  Though they do have a couple of luxed up bungalows with AC if you can't do without.

Our only constructive criticism... or compliment... depending on the traveler... is the insistence on grouping visitors together in the same meal tables.  Sadly, Americans basically don't like each other... and there was a Turkish family that immediately didn't want to sit with the Americans either.  In a happier time, family style with strangers would work out great.  But nowadays, it just creates strain.  Perhaps they should give the option upon booking, of sitting with strangers, or staying with those you know.

All that said, we loved Juma.  One thing you won't see much of in the reviews is clarification between wet and dry season.  The best time to go to much of the Amazon is actually June through August... right after the waters rise some 30-40 feet and right as the rains are slowing or stopping.  That said, we were there in the height of the dry, when the water was at its lowest.  Few bugs.  The places was immense and majestic.

Rustic luxury in the rain forest

If you're looking for adventure in the Amazon river this is the place to visit; the logde's infrastecture is good but I don't see myself staying in the premises; this place was built for adventures.

I loved this place because it offers you the possibility of interacting with the ecosystem around you (people, animals and plants) through activities that allow you to immerse yourself into the wilderness and learn all sort of things about the region, its history, the people, their evolution, etc. I am a solo traveler that enjoys hands-on experiences so I was definitely satisfied by all that I could learn and see during my stay. 

All the staff is very friendly but I think what makes the difference, are the tour guides; during my stay I was assigned to "Ralph", who's from a local community and knows a lot about the history of the region and jungle lifestyle, and everyday I ended my day very grateful for all the things I had learned from him and for all the different animals, plants, places and people I saw. Like I said, this place is for adventure so if you are you in the wild, you definitely need a good guide and this place has them.

Best way to immerse yourself into the Amazon river

One of a kind experience - the hotel takes care of transfers, lodging, food and tours. Everything was handled perfectly but would especially note the amazing guides that are so kind and passionate. They really made the whole trip above and beyond anything else. Would highly recommend.

Best experience ever - amazing guide

One of the best experiences of our lives, unforgettable stay at Juma.
The lodge is perfectly located at the heart of the Amazon forest, immersed within the amazing natural landscape and away from any modern settlement.

Great facilities, service from all staff was exceptional and the whole organization of our stay (transport, tours, food, etc.) was spotless.

A big and special thanks to Leon (and his driver/backup too!), he made our experience fun, interesting and thrilling!

Amazon paradise

The experience was transcendent.  This place and the staff brought our family closer.  My kids were skipping, my wife was smiling.  Our guide Leon was like a mentor, uniquely connecting with each kid.

One Of A Kind Experience For Our Family

Amazing place in the Amazon! Very well preserved place! Treetop experience was the best, vey unique! Staff very happy, friendly and knowledgeable! Maybe I would suggest only a longer hike, but everything was perfect, we really enjoyed it! Nice to see the sustentability practices!
