No English. Menu same lunch and dinnner all days. Menu vwey poor selection for European. Most facilities advertised no longer exist or not available inc room service. Internet veey very slow and poor including in Suites where we stayed the van gogh - jacuzzi in room only on or off from plug no settings function. Tv local only no netflix etc although shown. Premises are beautiful as is location however services are what makes and breaks and this is very obviously a family hotel casually run for local passing trade rather than international guests veey sad as premises deserve better

Misleading marketing

The cost to build this place must have been enormous, only the best materials and workmanship and in a country and State where the building work is more alike to Africa than Europe. Brazilians love ugliness.

It all stops there however, the staff are bone idle, reception service slow, the rooms not cleaned, no soap supplied to shower. 

When it comes to dining it gets worse, the waiter attention is diabolical, after serving soup he never returned, after an hour we left.

Will NEVER returm

Great place destroyed by lazy staff

Greek style architecture in the capixaba mountains with gorgeous view of the lagarto mountain. Great food. The bedrooms are very clean but simple. Beautiful gardens.

Fantastic view

This hotel was ten years before, the best luxury hotel in the mountains, but now it is totally outdated. The towels are dirty, the bathroom so outdated that you really does not want to have a bath. No glass to put and wash teeth, no kleenex. To be honest, in this room, there is a bed, a tv, a chair, a fridge and a table. The service is fifty-fifty.
There is some positive points. The hot water is hot and the food was not so bad, but.... never again.

Outdated

Stayed for one night in such classic and cozy hotel, comfortable bedroom and good facilities, staff politeness , great food and breakfast variety and quality . Improvements may be the fitness gym walls and size, sauna entrance by the main lobby (currently outside the building) and air conditioning.

Luxury option in capixaba countryside

This is one or Brazil's premier mountain resorts, and well worth a visit. The buildings are solidly built of local stone, and the architecture is beautiful. The grounds are nice, with some walking trails. Other things to see in addition to the natural beauty are local agribusinesses and antique shops.  One nearby farm in particular is run by a nice Italian family who have been there for 4 generations. They make a great variety of sauces and dried meats. I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but if you have someone take you on an agribusiness tour, you will be taken there. The hotel had a few shortcomings that detracted from a true 4 star experience.  The lovely pool was not cleaned throughly, and a thin layer of algae settled on the bottom.  This was easily stirred up by swimmers. While I did see employees manually skim the surface, I never saw the filtration system run. Actually not too surprising given the extremely high price of electricity in Brazil. In another energy saving measure, it appears that they heat the hot water for the hotel using a wood fired boiler in a separate building and then pipe it to the hotel. There was a short interval when we had no hot water but it was not too much of an inconvenience. The other disappointment was the the bar and restaurant that looks so enticing in the pictures was closed during our mid week visit. Apparently they only open it when the hotel is full. Maybe they run the pool filter then too.  There is a modest exercise room below the pool area, and if I recall it included things like is pool table as well. But more importantly, it was dark and uninviting, so we did not stay there long. I would stay again, but for many, the cheaper nearby Pousada would be an equally enjoyable experience for less money.
