A good place to stay in Fernando de Noronha if you are not looking for confort.

The room is ok (very simple), the breakfast is good, the employers are very friendly and the location is excellent.

We had some problems with the bathroom because the sink and faucet are terrible and sometime we had no water (I'm not sure but I think the water or energy are very expensive in the island and they are oriented to save it. Every time we had to ask the employers to solve the problem which was normally solved in 10 minutes).



Friendly place

We were re-routed to this pousada after the one we had booked turned out to be overbooked. The owner of the previous one said that this one was more expensive but that she'd pay the difference. When we arrived at Pousada do Eli, however, the manager/owner (young woman with rather brisk manners and generous tattoos) expressed dismay at the low rate -- even though she surely had communicated with the colleague from the other place -- and demanded payment immediately and in cash. When it came to providing something that resembled a receipt, however, three days and as many reminders passed, each being greeted with increasingly annoyed responses, before something was produced. So Nordeste laid-back-ness is clearly unidirectional. The accommodation is very very basic (I do not know what the rate amounts to, but other testimonies indicate that they are not commensurate with the quality). What saves this place are the very sweet young employees, the boy who guards the place and the young woman who cooks, both attentive and very pleasant.

Very basic accommodation and marginally unpleasant manager

This hostel is very well located. Very close to the Post Office building and Vila dos Remedios slope. It is also at a walking distance to nice restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful. The owner, Debora, immediately helped us when we had a problem with a buggy rental. As soon as she discovered that we needed to wake up early to scuba dive, she opened the breakfast earlier. The breakfast is good, they even prepare eggs and tapioca if your order. Said that, I need to clarify that Pousada do Eli needs serious renewing.Our shower, for example, had eletric shock problems, even though they covered the tap with insulating tap. I recommend it, but don't expect any luxury.

Great staff. Nice location, but simple.

If you get the lower level rooms, hammocks are not an option. Other comforts are very simple, bordering on ascetic. It is not a place to lazy around. However, one can put up with poor plumbing (leaks and broken bider handle) for a couple of nights. The staff is very helpful, and breakfast is rich with good variety. The fact that one person speak English is a huge bonus in Brazil. Location is also nice if you are planning on using taxi a lot and don't want to walk too far for a meal. Since all but 3-4 beaches on Fernando are not for swimming Praia do Cachorro beach is as good as any to walk to for photos. Also there's a fort within 10 -20 min walk.

Helpful staff, good location, ascetic comforts

I love the pousada, Eli was so lovely even though he didn't speak English and his property is gorgeous - the courtyard is nice, and lazing on the hammocks outside the rooms were a wonderful way to spend the hot afternoon. The location is good, just tucked away in a small street from a main village with a supermarket and restaurants and a beautiful beach all within walking distance. I stayed for 5 nights and super relaxing. The only complain I have is my room was a little noisy as I could hear everything that was happening in the living room plus the TV so I was up everyday at 6am once the staff gets up to prepare breakfast. The place is not cheap but decent price for what you get in Fernando de Noronha.
