This is a lovely, rustic  B and B with an amazing host. The accommodation is on a quiet, very safe residential street just outside the city centre. There are some very good restaurants walkable from the house and Uber is very reasonable. It’s an ideal place to base yourself to do the falls. Ole is the most hospitable host you can ask for and we were the only couple staying there , he likes to use just the one room so he can really look after you which he did, in spades. The breakfast is nice and simple and he can recommend how to travel around and local restaurants - which were very good BTW..
Ole is the reason  El Refugio gets 10/10 reviews.

An oasis of serenity in Foz.

This is an absolute find!  Everything about the place is perfect and the host ensures that anything you need is there for you.  I've stayed in 5* + hotels that do not offer the same level of comfort and attention to detail.  Highly recommended. 

Location is close enough to walk to the small city centre, and the host will drive you almost anywhere, plus uber makes it very reasonable to also get about.

Facilities are superb, from the stylish entrance to the 'boutique style' room.  A/C was perfect and the garden was to die for.

Breakfast was also excellent.

It is also good to meet such nice people as Ole and his family - Thankyou.

Outstanding

Beautiful property in a quiet location, very comfortable. Ideally located for visiting the falls in Brazil and Argentina. We were made to feel very welcome by the host, Olé, who gave us very good advice and helped us with our plans. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great property, excellent host.

Travelling to Iguazu falls, we stayed 2 nights in this house run by Ole, a gentleman who pays great attention to his guests. Nothing to do in the area itself and no public transport but Ole gave us a drive to Brazilian Iguazu falls and helped a lot with formalities to change currency and cross the frontier to visit the falls in Argentina. A great sens of service which made our stay perfect. The room was comfortable and quiet. Also a nice breakfast and a swimming pool in the garden. A high level of customer service.

A wonderful host in a lovely house

My wife and me had the pleasure to stay at Pousada el Refugio during a week full of visits to the Iguazu area. Everything spotless. The rewievs made earlier covers well up for all the qualities el Refugio is representing, largely due to what Ole represents as being the host. For our trips around, all arranged by Ole, the "Paradise" el Refugio is representing, was a "second to none" anchor for our holidays in Iguazu. This stay will remain in our memories as probably our best holidays ever. (Holidays underlined).

Hard to find a better place to stay

We had a great time at Pousada El Refugio. The house is elegantly decorated. Our room was spacious, nicely furbished, very clean and comfortable. 
Breakfast was excellent, served under the patio, in the garden.  
The owner, Ole and his son, Juan are friendly and very careful. They pick us at the airport, at midnight, and organized our excursions at the waterfalls (both to the Brazilian and Argentinian side).
