Pousada Colibri is a top quality family run business located only 5 mins walk away from the center of the island. Quietly tucked away on a hill top with a lush view on the sea and surrounded by stunning gardens! 
Upon our arrival, we were welcomed to the accommodation by a friendly Pepe who told us everything we needed to know about how to navigate the island, and made us very welcomed all throughout our stay. Top customer service! 
Furthermore, the accommodation was spacious and comfortable, and the stuff were helpful, providing us with everything we needed. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious and full of choices. 

Overall, Pousada Colibri would be a perfect getaway for couples and families looking for a tranquil and relaxing time on the island with direct connections to the buzzy night life.

A paradise stay in a friendly environment!

I stayed at this pousada for 3 days with friends and was very impressed. Beautiful location above Morro de São Paulo with great views, extremely friendly staff, very nice and well maintained rooms. And most importantly: fantastic breakfast! Every day, they would serve us different options for breakfast, super food quality, all served with love. 
The pousada is located a bit off-the-beaten-track, far above, and requires climbing some 150 stair steps. Still: excellent location, in a few minutes, you are at the main square (but don't have all the noise). So excellent also for ecotourism. 
Overall highly recommended, I would definitely go there again.

Beautiful and quite pousada with great views

morro is packed with tons of hostels and pousadas, a lot of them with good reviews - so it can be hard to decide which place you actually book. i would suggest to go for this one if theres space available.

pousada colibri is located a bit off of all the main places in morro but you can walk there within like 10-20min. the beach side and "centre" of morro where everything happens can be a bit hectic so colibri is the perfect retreat while still being so close to everywhere you need to go.

we stayed in a 2-person bungalow which was very clean and well furnished, A/C worked perfectly fine, so did the fridge, shower, etc. from my experience a problem with bungalows often is that everything which is creeping around on the outside (in morro's case centipedes, GIGANTIC moths, ants, ...you name it) can easily find it's way inside. the bungalows in this pousada though are equipped with the common wooden windows but also sliding glass windows which allow you to seal your place so nothing can get in. many people probably dont care but for us central-europeans that was a big deal ;)

for breakfast, they don't have a buffet but prepary everything fresh in the morning, also with a bit of alteration for each day. you get like a ton of bread, cheese, fruits, sweets and coffee and im pretty sure that if for some reason you still feel hungry, you can ask always ask for more.

tania and pepe are very friendly and helpful, they take their time when you talk to them and need some advice on where to go, what to do, help with setting up transfers. etc. really good hosts!

be aware though that if for whatever reason you're having problems with walking up/down stairs this place might not be the best choice as there's only one way to get there and you'll have to take all these stairs. this only a side note for physically impaired ppl and we never found the stairs annoying or anything

100% recommended, don't think there's a better place to stay in morro!

extremely friendly, charming and beautiful place

We stayed three nights and we had a great time. The pool is wonderful, very clean and with a great view, breakfast abundant and delicious despite not being of buffet style. The pousada is on top of a hill, beautiful views but you need to be fit to get there as there are 150 steps to reach it. In the morning it is ok going down to the beaches but at night it was a little hard as it is a very long stair! Apart from this the service was really good, everybody was very helpful to answer my questions despite a little language barrier as I don’t speak Portuguese. I liked the place and the hammock outside our room.

Beautiful pousada quiet with great pool

We stayed here for 3 nights it was paradise, a welcome romantic break just a short boat ride from Salvador. The breakfast (which was varied and delicious) and reception area was straight out of the set from the movie Swiss Family Robison. Tanya and Peppie were so welcoming, the bungalow was beautiful, airconditioning a hammock with a view what more could you need. We will be back. Luiz and Stewart.

We had a wonderful stay with Helmut and Marga at Colibri. They were very helpful and responsive leading up to our stay, and made us feel very welcome when we arrived. They were very knowledgeable and helpful about Morro and things to do (including good tips for avoiding the more crowded beaches). The breakfast was excellent, set in lovely gardens with a pool with a fantastic view. The rooms were clean and spacious, and Helmut/Marga were always happy to help with any questions. 

There are steps, but they're not too bad and well worth it for this great pousada!

Fantastic pousada and hosts

This is a very special and beautiful Place on a very Special Island. The owners are very hospitable, friendly and helpful! You are close to the quiet beaches and the bungalows are in a Beautiful Garden. 

Highly recommended!

I stayed at Colibri back in March for a week, I just loved it so much! The stairs are not as bad as people complain. The view and the staff are amazing! The challet was very big and clean. The breakfast was delicious every single day! To complete the amazing stay, I dont have enough words to describe what a wonderful person is the owner, Marga. From all my travels, this stay surpassed any other experience I ever had. It was just perfect!

Don't let others scare you with the steps! It is an amazing place to stay!

I have stayed here twice now. In January and December 2016. The pousada is beautiful situated on the top of a hill with beautiful views of the sea, port and lighthouse. The room we stayed in was private and secluded. It comes equipped with towels, a tv, a safe box, a mosquito net and excellent air conditioning, as well as a refrigerator with drinks or space to put your own. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. There is also a table, chair and hammock outside of the room. 

The pousada's pool is wonderful, small but never busy or crowded. Surrounding the pool is a lovely seating area and sunloungers. The pousada also provides clean towels for use by the pool. 

The breakfast here is wonderful and is served until 11am if you're not a morning person. Usually I prefer buffet style breakfasts but this is equally as good. You are served a good selection of food (more than you can eat) including fruit, bread, cheese, ham, cake, juice, coffee etc. The breakfast area is also very nice, also used as the reception area and a bar area where drinks are served at night time. 

Finally, the staff here are lovely. They will do anything to make you feel happy and comfortable. They also speak several languages which is very useful. Checkout is usually before lunch but we were allowed to stay until 2pm as we were due to leave the island at 3pm. It was very generous to allow us to use the pool facilities and room to shower before we left. 

If anyone is wondering how far the hotel is from the main part of morro de São Paulo, it is 5-10 minutes walking to the main square where you arrive from the port and then a further 10 minutes walking to beach 1 and 2. The walking is completely fine and gives you a chance to look around the shops and burn off your breakfast!

This pousada is not suitable for people who are in bad health as you need to walk uphill for 150 steps to get to it. If you have any medical condition or are in bad health it is not the best thing to have to do. However, if you're able bodied, the steps are worth it for a wonderful hotel and view.
