Ilha do Mel

This was the best food we had while on the island for a week. The seafood was fresh but also interestingly prepared - not the staple touristy fried or broiled with a side of fries. The setting is marvelous, right on the trail to the Grotto landmark and not too far from the beach. The staff was young but very professional and very nice. They spoke English but were also very patient with my broken Portuguese.

A wonderful Late Lunch

This Pousada is amazing! Very cozy feeling, comfortable rooms with a small extra bathroom with hot water. The bed is a little small (1.20m) but totally fine. It was raining one night and a little dripped through the ceiling. Problem was resolved quickly through. Once the AC was dripping on the bed, but the sheets were quickly changed and the problem resolved immediately!
The restaurant of the Pousada is very good with tasty food and great attendance. Staff is also friendly! 
I’d overall recommend that Pousada - one of the best on the island!


Little Paradise

I just loved this guest house to stay. Any time I would love to come here again and again..becoz of several things like its view from outside and inside. Its cool for couples as well as all sort of people. Its appearance is Comfortable and soothing..

Excellent, fantastic

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about this hotel and would recommend to everyone 

The staff: amazing! They are willing to help you out and although most staff only speak Portuguese, they help regardless. If you only speak English, it's good to know the basics which will make like much easier for you and they appreciate it too. Wonderful people always happy and helpful - even when it rained they came and checked if we needed more towels to stay dry or if we needed anything in the room - above and beyond

The location: great - a short walk to the lighthouse and the caves, 200-300m if that from the beach, and access to the ferry. This hotel is located on the "quieter" side of the island but if you want to go around to the other side, there is a regular cheap ferry (few dollars) to go around very close. Close to everything you would need.

The hotel: beautiful! Has that real island vibe with outdoor lounges, stand up paddle boards to borrow if wanted, tropical plants and many birds.

The room: clean, tidy, and pretty. We stayed in room 9 which was a queen and single (3 person room) and we had a seperate lounge and bedroom and bathroom. Make sure you take your own shampoo and conditioner as they don't provide but they do provide soap :) 
Note: the island itself doesn't have a well established sewage system so toilet paper needs to go into the waste basket not the toilet - all hotels will have this same policy and routine, not just this one but something to know for when you visit ilha do Mel as this may be unusual for some guests. The staff clean daily if you drop your key before 11 at reception

The restaurant: if you want fresh local seafood, reasonable prices, large serving and amazing food, you need to eat here. They offer great dishes with local seafood but have vegetarian options, chicken and meat if you don't like seafood (and some incredible chocolate loaded desserts). Be aware if you are looking for American or Australian style food you won't find it (ie burgers and chips) because they are making food that is local and fresh and not touristy :) their food is incredible, best polenta I have ever had

Overall we have nothing but great things to say about the staff, the hotel, the restaurant and our experience there - to all the staff thank you for making it such an enjoyable and relaxing experience 

Incredible hotel, staff and restaurant 

we have stayed in this place for four nights,  have enjoyed very much every minute of it. place is very close to the harbour and it is two minutes walk away from the beach. hotel has a fantastic restaurant, breakfast, lunch an dinner available. we loved the food. we loved the master room, i have never seen such a big bed in any hotel. hotel stuffs are very kind and very helpfull. we must thank the hospitality of Margareth and Guilherme and their stuff. Raphael, kaue and michel at the bar, special thanks to kitchen stuffs Cicero, Glaucio, Silvana and Carla for their lovely cooking. thank to Lauriane for cleaning our room daily. i can highly recommend this place peoples who is looking for one nice and quite place. Its is place in haven. Im looking forward to return near future. Its an excellent place for a vacation.
