Ilha do Mel

We stayed at the Pousada for two nights and The place was just amazing... A wooden house fully equipped, walking distance from the beach, cozy and very comfortable. 
Here, it's all about Details. You will find in this place a respectful interaction between nature and humans, being the hosts very conscious about the importance of preserving their home in this peace of paradise. They have created different spaces, within their property, all of them surrendered by amazing trees, plants and flowers, where guest can hang out. And that was a very nice part of our stay, because it rained a bit, so even though we couldn't go for a walk we enjoyed just being there... Hanging out in a quiet and beautiful place. 
We also need the mentioned the breakfast, what a feast! From the fruits to the cakes, everything was just perfect! 
Friendly, warm and kind are the three fisrt words that come to my mind to describe all the team that takes care of the guests at the Pousada. 
I will definitely recommend the place. Such a beautiful space with good vibes and lots of love.

Paradise

Peacefully surrounded by nature, this beautiful inn offers great service and an even better breakfast. The room is very cozy and well equiped. The owners will talk about the island and give amazing tips of what to do and where to go. The inn is a must stay at Ilha do Mel (Honey Island). 

Excellent! 

Our family had a really great visit to Ilha do Mel and really enjoyed our stay at this pousada. The warm personalities of the hosts who greeted us and made us feel so much like we were at home are absolutely the standout feature of this pousada. Mari and her family made our delicious breakfast with the birds an event my kids still talk about. Not to mention the family dogs with whom our kids fell in love! The location was perfect and the island itself was enchanting. Simple, rustic, and peaceful. We collected tons of sand dollars after rainstorms, hiked to both the fort and the lighthouse, explored the beaches and the grotto and walked to some great restaurants in the town.

Wonderful Hosts, Great Escape!!

We had spent several wonderful weeks at the Pousada Praia do Farol on the Ilha do Mel.  We were greeted by the owners of the hotel,  Mari and Gui, who were very pleasant, fun, and accommodating to our every needs.  We took many walks along the island shore to visit the Farol and the old mission as well as sunned and swam at our beach and the other beaches.  The breakfasts were a daily feast of all kinds of fruits, meats, home made breads and tasty treats.   The fancy drinks were amazing.  I enjoyed the honeymoon suite which was recently built, yet still maintaining the rustic charm of the entire hotel.  The hotel was in a beautiful setting with tropical birds, foliage, fountains and great views of the ocean and the light house.  You feel very comfortable there and can spend some time drinking caipirinhas on the covered decks while gazing out at the scenery.  

Wonderful and restful vacation

In the rooms of Pousada Praia do Farol there is a sign in Portuguese that starts as follows: "Here we do not worship luxury, consumerism, the hype we're used to practicing in everyday urban life... We are not moved by the idea to make money, become rich, or exploit anyone...simplicity and comfort can walk together...". These words somehow manage to encapsulate the feelings I was left with when leaving the hotel. The owners (and their dogs) clearly cherish the place, the feeling of welcome, warmth, genuinity, and the possibilities of slowness of life are evident when stepping into the place. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast outside on the shadowed patio is other-wordly - the pictures posted here are not stylised PR-shots, that is the way it looks. 

The rooms are spartan to the bone, but perfectly functional for rest. The hotel is located in such a way that it has direct access to the beach on both sides of the island, getting up early to walk the beach on the north-east side felt like a once-in-a-life-time moment.

A Place (with capital P) where Simplicity and Comfort walk together..

We stayed at this hotel for one weekend, which was really wonderful!
The hotel is really lovely decorated and the location is perfect! It is located at two of the major beaches and very close to the ferries. 
The best of everything was, however, the friendliness of the staff and the amazing breakfast!!! There were sooooo many different kinds of delicious fruits, freshly made juices, homemade cakes, homemade cereal, homemade fruit salad and great homemade pão de queijo. Unfortunately, we weren't able to eat all of this delicious food in only one morning, since it was just so much! So we were happy that we stayed two nights and got another chance at the next morning. :-)


Perfect city escape

It was my 2nd time visiting Pousada Praia do Farol, and it was filled with such beauty! First, Ilha do Mel is an amazing tourist spot and there are a lot of things to do. Second, the hotel is  perfect compliment to the island. It has amazing views and very good accommodations. Where else are surrounded by beaches on both sides my wife and I stayed in the honey moon sweet while my parents stayed the other one. They were both very cute and the island decorations enhanced our experience. Mari, the owner is extremely sweet and out going. She is easy to communicate with because she understands and speaks English. She is such an amazing cook and treats all her guests like family. The breakfast she and the other workers prepare is better than any other breakfast (filled with so many fruits, meats, cakes, fruit smoothies, etc) the hotel offers a lot of excursions (some you need to call ahead for) and it's easy to find a great time. They also have a speed boat so traveling to and from the island is easy and fast, and the hotel is centrally located on the island so it's less than 100ft to the main strip with other restaurants and stores, I would recommend this hotel and island for everyone, it was the greatest experience I ever had in my life
