We stayed at this hotel during Christmas. We had a lovely welcome by Susi and the girls. 

The best part the breakfast! I think it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had with home made cheese, fruits, cake, juice and more!!

Of course we fell in love with the sweet pets (one dog and two cats) they have. They give even a bigger charm to the hotel.

The room was nice, clean, had a refrigerator and a good shower. The whole hotel is decorated beautifully!

I love the island, as you can disconnect completely from the outside world. There are no cars and there is no internet unless you’re connected to a wifi.

Cozy and lovely place!

If you go for tourism you want to experience how locals live, what decoration they use instead of industrialized destinations. Here you can tune yourself to typical local atmosphere and get away from your routine.

Rustical atmosphere

I am an American and I have visited Ilha do Mel five times with family and friends. This pousada is definitely the best place to stay on the island.  The owners live on the property and make sure your visit is perfect.  Our room was clean and comfortable and decorated with beauty and care.  The entire space of the pousada, for me, was like a fairy tale - little soft lights throughout, colorful pillows and decor, books and magazines to read and a couple adorable cats roaming the grounds.  The breakfast was delicious and she offers a nice array of lighter foods for lunch and dinner.  You will be very happy with your stay.

The best and most special pousada on the island

"Location, location, location"  We spent 2 nights in the room called "Praia do Miguel", approximately 20 feet from the reception breakfast area. Upon seeing the room we asked for another but were told they were full although we watched the girl that assigned the room (not Suzy) take other arriving couples to better rooms after our arrival (maybe they knew to reserve a better area?).  The entire room was 8ft x 10ft with space only for a double bed, shelf & bar on brackets for some clothing.  There was no room for our 2 weekender suitcases that we were constantly opening & closing and moving around to squeeze by.  The room did have TV, AC, wifi and a ceiling fan and was clean. The strangest part about this room is there was NO GLASS in the window, only screen, hence we air conditioned the outdoors!  This also made for an extremely noisy room, with the clanging of dishes starting at 6:30am all the way until the community turned in at night.  Our 2nd night there Suzy had a very entertaining band come play - they played until 1am. We enjoyed the fun but when time came to turn in, we climbed through the people on "our" front porch to get in the door and had people talking, music and cigarette smoke coming through the screened window for another hour or so.  Completely unacceptable!  
Go and enjoy Pousada das Meninas, Suzy, the good breakfast and the fun decor BUT make sure first you have secured an enclosed room not right in the middle of things.  Should we return to the island for another visit, we will not return to this pousada.

Suzy is wonderful but our room & location were disappointing!

An amazing little posada, well run, very clean and a bit quirky!

Suzi and her lovely family run a really cool hotel, with a selection of rooms from cabins to doubles. We stayed in one of the larger cabins, which was perfect for us with a verandah and hammock. Very romantic.

The breakfast is very Brazilian, lots of fruit, cheeses, ham and very fresh bread - perfect to start off the day.

One night Suzi cooked us some amazing, large prawns - not on the menu but no problem to her!

A short walk to the pier for the ferry. The beaches are totally unspoilt, tranquil and clean.

Please don't expect 5 star luxury and you won't be disappointed. What you can expect are cosy rooms, lovely ambience, lots of personal touches and a great place to chill out away from the city. 
Excellent WIFI, compared to most other hotels.

Why stay anywhere else?

When we arrived here we were the only guests as it was really early in the season. But Suzy gave us such a warm welcome. We got a lovely cottage beautiful decorated and she offered us to make some lunch and fresh juice when we arrived. She had good tips what to do in the short time we were there (unfortunately only one night).  In the afternoon there was a lovely tea/coffee with cakes and snacks and also the breakfast was very good. If I come back to Ilha do Mel defintaly to this beautiful pousada. Thank you Suzy! 
Only thing to mention is the size of the bed. As I am a tall guy the bed is a little short.
