Beautiful view and rustic atmosphere, a luxurious hostel, but with all its peculiarities, wonderful view, clean rooms, quality care, people always ready to help, we need a wine opener, help and every time we were promptly protected, we are so grateful.

It's great in every way.

It was our first trip to the Big Island, we stayed 5 days in this hostel and we only get compliments!! The hostel staff welcomed us very well, besides the privileged view of the upper room and a simple but super tasty breakfast! The hostel is far from the center and has a staircase to get there, but for us it was no problem! We would definitely come back! :)

5 wonderful days!

You could say that the high point of the inn is the sea view laid out on the net, or the delicious breakfast served with love by Gabi. But the high point is Sofia's sympathy that welcomed us as if we were old friends. Super recommend staying at the inn. It will be nothing short of unforgettable. Clean rooms, beds arranged daily, a water filter in the coffee area for water before the trail. Although Sofia is not always at the reception is not accessible via WhatsApp, we had no problem communicating. The location of the inn and it is well within 10 minutes walk of the pier and if you have a wheelchair indicates a garbage can for your comfort. And it is wonderful to be in the ladin's bar without the confusion of sleeping or the waves of the sea.

Paradise on earth

This place is a bit difficult to get to with luggage (up a staircase alley), but the balcony views make it worthwhile. The staff will also help carry your luggage from/to the dock if asked in advance, and the management is super friendly. However, what let this place down seriously was the stained/filthy sheets. I threw the cover back after a long day, ready to sleep, only to discover the horror in the attached photos. I do not care if the bedsheets were clean, but simply stained. Without being able to confirm one way or another, I simply could not sleep on those nasty-looking sheets. Fortunately, I had both a double bed and single bed in my room, so I stripped the stained/dirty sheets from the large bed, and re-made it using the sheets from the small bed (which thankfully were not stained). The staff/management should have known that no guest would want to sleep on filthy-looking sheets, so should not have thought it was acceptable. They let themselves down here. Thumbs down.

Missing mosquitoes net, only a few beds have one whereas there are millions of mosquitoes.

Only hôtel without an electricity generator on the island ( stayed for 2 entire days without electricity ).

The WiFi connection is a joke.

Juices for the breakfasts are far too much diluted into water.

Pousada manager did welcomed us warmly and overall had a bad attitude. 

 

Nice view bad service 

We loved Pousada Tagomago.  It's at the end of the beach, a short walk through the sand to your left when you get off the ferry boat at the dock.  It has it's own private walkway from the beach up to the pousada, which was about 200 steps.  The hostess and her two sons were lovely to work with.  Breakfast was delicious.  Our stay was very private and quiet.  We loved it!

Ilha Grande Hideaway

The access is complicated, not suitable for children, lots of stairs, the view from the rooms is fantastic, the regular breakfast, the excellent care, the balcony with a Paraguayan hammock without a doubt.

It's worth it.

Lovely pousada, managed by Claudia and her son. They're very kind and helpful! The room was very nice with the most amazing view over the bay! I saw other reviews talking about the distance from the pier. I personally, found it was not so far. Only 10 minutes by the (sandy) 'road' and even less over the beach :) We arranged via Claudia that our suitcases would be picked up. Although you'll walk sand from the beach very easily in the room and the humidity at the island, they are able to keep the rooms very clean. I've never seen a room so clean on a tropical island!

Keep in mind that you have to walk some stairs to get to the pousada. If you're generally fit, this should be absolutely no problem :)

Great pousada, cleanest room I've ever seen on a tropical island

The location and the view from the room are excellent. The breakfasts overlooking the sea and super complete. What is most remarkable is the treatment they gave us. Hugo is a genius! After checking out we were allowed to come back and shower, we were loaned towels. They also offered to help us with the luggage as the climb is long.
