Extraordinary location, staff, service, style, taste.   If the suite is still available with both hot-tub in huge well-appointed bathroom and upstairs private terrace with dune-view to enjoy lovely homemade (served personally to your own private outdoor "dining area"!) breakfasts, what are you waiting for?  Book it. Perfect solution for an amazing experience in amazing Jeri.

Exceeded my (high) expectations...

An intimate little pousada with only three rooms, but amazing design and service. The room had a massive bed with posts, the bathroom has a tree growing in it! Felt like home here and would definitely come back.

Best value for money

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at O Refugio and can't rate this place highly enough. The staff were first class, from the initial assistance from the owner Gerard through to the staff on site Francisco and Thereza. Super friendly at all times and great for practising my Portuguese! We had both rooms so it really felt like our own private pousada. The rooms and bathrooms are of a very high standard, tastefully decorated with flat screen TVs, cable and fast, free wifi. Beautiful pool, amazing and varied breakfast and superb location. We will definitely be back.

Simply the best

We had a truly unforgettable stay at The Pousada O Refugio!

The Pousada feels absolutely exclusive, you will feel you have the whole place to yourselves! We were presented with a feast for breakfast, which we had in the pool area only to ourselves, we could not see other guests as they were also having an exclusive feast. Everything you could want was brought to the table: Lots of different savoury and sweet pies, lots of fruits, Brazilian delicacies, breakfast cereals, choice of eggs, bread baskets, juices, coconut water, yogurts, every day breakfast had many different components to it, so there is no way you will ever get bored! While you have breakfast you can watch a variety of hummingbirds and few other birds visiting the flowery garden in the pool area. There are not many birds in Jericoacoara, but all that there were seemed to love visiting the Pousada.

We have booked the Deluxe Double Room for 3 nights starting on New Year’s Day. The room was absolutely perfect; it has an absolutely gorgeous outside bathroom with a couple of trees inside and a beautiful stone sink. The room itself is very beautifully decorated, spacious and perfectly designed with some Asian/African influences, and plenty of space and shelves to store all your luggage and clothes. The whole place is so much more beautiful than in the pictures!

The owner, Gerard, is absolutely delightful, friendly and very helpful, together with his right hand man, Francisco, they went the extra mile to make our stay absolutely perfect, letting us know about all the best options in terms of restaurants, day trips, activities, and much more. Francisco has even taken us to 5 different places until we found somewhere that got our clothes washed in the same day. Francisco was such a nice, friendly and helpful guy!

Gerard has even given us one of his wonderful published books, explaining all the history of Jericoacoara and his Pousada, full of stunning pictures of the region.

I have travelled to more than 40 countries in 4 continents, but Jericoacoara will definitely be on my list of places that I want to go back one day, it is a gorgeous little town in a truly stunning natural setting full of sand dunes and fresh water lagoons. Full of good quality restaurants and the shops have top quality crafts, clothes and gifts; you can shop till you drop!

I highly recommend a stay in Jericoacoara, and if you are going there, definitely do not miss out in staying at the stunning and exclusive Pousada O Refugio!
