The Rio Negro Guesthouse is small but fine and is located in a central location (Centro and Teatro are about 7 minutes' walk away). The rooms are convenient and clean. The guesthouse is lived primarily by the charming owner. She speaks German and is extremely helpful, whether it's for tips for tours to the Amazon, sights in Manaus and surroundings or just to borrow her laptop for a moment to read your own emails. I can highly recommend the guesthouse and will definitely come down here again the next time I come to Manaus.

Family hotel in central location

I found this quest house completely misrepresented itself. Yes she speaks German, she says it over and over again. My room key was lost and I was locked out of my room with my passport, cell phone and everything (cash) inside.. why was I locked out of my room you might ask? Because the housekeeper took my room key home with her and didn't come back until later that night. I missed dinner meeting my friends and it became a screaming match as the owner completely lost it. There is no master key - no duplicate room key. When I offered to get a second key made - that too wasn't satisfactory to her. She is an emotional wreck. As for the rooms and hotels, it is in desperate need of a paint job and serious cleaning. The room with two twin bed couldn't fit a water bottle between them, no closet, hangers, dresser and one chair in the room with bar light blubs. I got bug bites all over my legs while my roommate didn't - so we figure that was from the bed. My advice find a different place. Oh yes, they didn't have bottled water.

This Place is Bug infested

We have already planned 4 days from Germany from our Amazon strip by ship; the organisation took over Rita from the Rio Negro guesthouse and it was a complete success: super nice crew (captain, chef, guide Tarzan was excellent) We can highly recommend the Rio Negro guesthouse and the great organizer Rita!

I'm all right.

With its particularly warm, German-Brazilian owner Rita, the little Pousada right across from the Rio Negro Palace is a nice, if very simple basement. Everything very clean, great breakfast and a small veranda to enjoy. Everything very personal and nice. I really enjoyed being there.

Very nice care.

I was there in middle of June, and I loved that place. Simple but very very familiar. Clean and nearby from many tourist centers! I recommend it for all my friends and for those who like practicality.

Familiar and Clean

Nice, small boarding house with individual notes in a central location. The ideal place to discover the center of Manaus. Despite the central location, the rooms are quite quiet for Brazilian conditions, as they are located in the back. I had four nights there and felt very comfortable. Whoever likes it more individually and doesn't feel so comfortable in larger hotels or hostels is very rich here. The owner is very helpful and Rita also speaks German, a real help in Brazil if you don't speak Portuguese perfectly. In short, a very good choice.

Central, nice & lovely

If you don't expect great luxury in the heart of the Amazon, this is the right place. From the airport you will be taken by taxi booked directly with Rita, the owner of the pousada. 15 minutes' walk from the Manaus theater, this pousada is a very old house but you will not miss anything! The rooms are clean and equipped with perfect air conditioners for the Manaus fairies. The pousada also organizes ad hoc tours to the forest and a guide who will talk the guide will accompany you.

Simple and familiar!

Hello all Manaus travelers, I cannot confirm the critical opinions of some holidaymakers. The RIO NEGRO GUESTHOUSE is a small really nice guesthouse in a very good location - facing the Palacio Rio Negro, the former residence of the rubber baron Waldemar Scholz, surrounded by a great park that leads to the harbour - PERFECT to explore the city and the harbour on foot. Apparently there were once favelas here, but they have been a few years of history. The rooms are simple and clean, the staff and the owner are very nice and the internet also works well = price-performance ratio. I can only recommend the guesthouse.

Very nice... great location.

This guesthouse is in a very nice location, 15 minutes walk from the Amazon Theatre.  The rooms are not on the street side, so they are quiet and you can sleep well. They also have a silent air conditioner. The mattress need to be changed. 
Breakfast was definitely very bad for brazilian guesthouse standards. Coffe and milk always cold, and it doesn´t offer brown bread, yogurt or cereals. The owner and the staff were helpfull and nice, booked a tour (all went well).

We spent 2 nights here on our way to and from an Amazon lodge. The owner's son picked us up in a taxi at the airport which was very helpful. We were also able to store our large bags safely at the guesthouse and only take small bags on to the lodge with us. 
We had two different rooms and both were cool and clean. The breakfasts were tasty and substantial and they were able to provide a very early breakfast when we needed an early start.
During our stay the owners were experiencing some family difficulties but they did not let this interfere with the service to their guests. We loved our stay there.
