The location and the price are very good. Otherwise we didn't like it very much. Especially the kitchen and bathroom were very dirty. The staff, consisting of two men, were very friendly at first, but in the end they became unfriendly, and we were happy when we left again.

For a maximum of one night

The hostel is well located. The owner and staff are nice. The common bathrooms aren't clean enough and the toilets don't have paper (you have to bring yours. The fan in the room is very loud. There is no breakfast unfortunatly. It's cheap so i would say it is worth the price and still okay if you are travelling on a budget.

Good for one night

Pros: - Successful location: 10 -15 minutes walk to the central waterfront and historic center, 20-25 minutes to the river.port. - Central bus station 3 km minus: - Dirty including on the kitchen and toilet.

Not bad for one night.

The owners are eating the customers' food, the jobs are making noises 24 hours a day (TV volume very loud from 6am to 3pm, talking late or early very loud, cooking after 22pm despite the ban after this hour...), if they come to rest, the Amazon hostel is not ideal! Here the customer doesn't matter. Nor can you know who works here, and in any case no one really responsible for managing that, without faith or belief, is what happens in the Amazon hostel. But the place is beautiful and the building is atypical, and with a very nice street view.

Welcome to the home of selfishness!

Very simple hostel. Air conditioned was cut off when it was just me int he room!. I've been asking for a copy of the receipt and so far hey have not been able to answer to my request!! 
Breakfast  was simple as well but if you are not awake early you probably will not have any. 
Matrices are old. A change on hen would be good not just for comfort but hygiene.

Poor customer service

Very simple and small rooms.just enough for sleep.
Location very good,hearth of the city center.
Smiley staf and owner make as happy during the stay.
Old building.clean enough.
 Very closed to traditional market,suoermarkets,pharmacy and istaçao das docas.
Cheap also.nice choise for backpakers.

Value for money

I checked hostel world and there are not many hostels in Belem. So trough HW I found Belem Hostel (as they are called now) but they used go under the name Amazonia. So because in tripadvisor there's this name I did put it under this one. The hostel is located in a side street of presidente Vargas street.

The hostel is not really nice decorated, no sofa's or hammocks the relax. The rooms have air I which is nice. No breakfast included for the RS30 (mixed dorm) a night. On Hostel World they wrote that they have a shuttle to the airport, they haven't any more. And after I checked out and wanted to store my stuff they charged met RS 5 for it. Really strange after staying two nights. Never have had that ever before. So they service isn't nice and the woman at the desk not friendly. If you need a budget stay for one night this is an option otherwise check out other places.

Bad service

We are travelling around South America as a late twenties/early thirties couple and we stayed in HI Amazonia Belém in in a six bed dorm for 2 nights.
If you've stayed in a HI in South America before you'll know what to expect as it is pretty similar to the others we've stayed in. Rooms are nice enough, beds are good value (34 reaies / £9) and location is close enough to things like the food market, banks, restaurants etc. 
Atmosphere was chilled as it was a quiet hostel with not too many people there. 
Only downside was the men's toilet and shower room is out the back on the ground floor meaning you have to walk through the reception, lounge and kitchen every time! Breakfast is also an extra 6 reaies but didn't look the best so ate elsewhere.

A good value HI hostel

Lindo hostel, correct staff. We were recommended places to visit, it is well located near the Basilica of Nazareth in a quiet area and close to all the tourist attractions of Belém.

Lindo is the name of the game.

Apart from that, dark, poorly ventilated bedrooms, toilets in two square meters of opaque plastic walls, no privacy, and guaranteed smells during the shower. Private rooms look like closets with a ceiling height of three meters, imprinted by a bluff yellow light. The staff are quite friendly, even those who don't speak English. All these things could pass if the price wasn't as high, I suggest you look at other establishments to the Republic Square.
