What a wonderful hotel. Packed with character and really sets the mood and the expectations of the amazing village it is part of. Paraty is quite simply a must when you head to Brazil. And this hotel delivers in all levels - great location, large comfortable rooms lovely pool and outside bar area. Breakfast is great - fresh bread and rolls always a hit.  The staff are fantastic and extremely friendly and helpful. We had a mixup with our transfer on checking out and they could not have done more to help us out. Paraty is in a league of its own by the way. You will be pleased yiu visited .

DO NOT miss this hotel in the picture book Paraty.

It is a beautiful venue but during weekends people in the street bring loud speakers and keep the "music" and talking all night.

The front desk would not take any action other to let you know that the rooms 1,2 and 3 are noisy. They advise their clients to call themselves to the police.... Dial 138

I went down to the front desk by 3:00 am  to ask for assistance but the night guard (the only employee present) was rock sleeping in a sofa

The pousada is located in a beautiful colonial house with a lush and peaceful garden. The location in the Catedral square in the historic center is fantastic.
While the common areas are decorated with great taste and care, my room and bathroom were very basic and without personality. This deserves the atention of the managers.
Another point: the staff speaks exclusively Portuguese.

Fantastic common areas, basic rooms

One of the best hotels I know. Very friendly people and an outstanding atmosphere in the historic center of Paraty. The interior is conducted and made with love and taste. The garden with the pool and bar is a perfect place to relax and enjoy while birds are singing and you can watch colibris. Maravilhoso!

Pousada Maravilhoso 

I stayed at this hotel several times and it is fantastic.. In spite of what some reviews have said everything is perfect. The breakfast  is amazing and if you want some extra things they will do it for you....most of the food is hand made so excellent... The rooms are great, the service is excellent and everyone makes you feel happy and at home. As for the car park you park your car outside the hotel when you arrive, take out all your luggage and someone will come with you to the parking lot... This is the historic center of Paraty so of course the car park is not right next to the hotel but since most of the time the visit to Paraty is on foot or by boat who needs a car??? And if you need it to go to another place it is easy and quick.....
I would stay here any time and if you want a boat trip see the Xodo which is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the best in Paraty... Congratulations to everyone at the Marquesa as they all deserve a 10 out of 10  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

GREAT HOTEL / POUSADA TO STAY IN PARATY

The location is perfect, righ in front of the main squAre of Paraty. 
The colonial conversion has a lot of antique furniture and just walking around the hotel makes you feel in 1600!
Nevertheless, the rooms all have AC and good amenities without losing the vintage touch!
The pool is simply delicious to finish off the day!

The best located hotel!

Off the main square of the old town and near the boat dock, close to restaurants, bars and craft/clothes shops but some way from the shopping area. The quaint old town has narrow 'sort of cobbled' streets but really rock-like stones, a bit of a nightmare to walk on. Our room was a bit 'rustic basic' but everything worked, quiet air con, safe, big fridge (with ice box) and good Wi-Fi. The bathroom was large with hot water all of the time. The public rooms and grounds were a delight, full of antiques and memorabilia, a bit like a museum. The pool area is surrounded by mature trees and is well supplied with sun beds. The pool bar, which sells sandwiches is open until 10 pm. The restaurant serves a good breakfast with a wide range of cakes, fruit, cold cuts and some hot food. During our stay the restaurant only opened for breakfast, no problem the nearest restaurant is 50 meters away. All the staff were friendly and helpful, except one in reception, but few have any command of English. Reception will loan you umbrellas and provide beach towels. During our stay here the hotel had few guests, although the weekend trade improves, mainly groups of French tourists, but there is a large number of staff. We enjoyed our stay here (would have been a lot more pleasant if it hadn't rain all the time, avoid early December) in this quaint place. It was like staying in a rich colonial merchants house.

A hotel with a plain outside but a wonder behind the walls.

Great place if you enjoy history, beautiful build and furniture. But don't expect any luxury, there were lots of bugs and the bed is not the most comfortable, the door to the closet didn't close, if you don't mind these little things this might be the place for you. Nice breakfast and great service!

Historic

This is a nice family hotel. Quite and safe. The location is perfect. The rooms and the breakfast are avarage. The staffs are polite. Very surprising but Some of them speaks english. Nice place. I recommmend.
