This is a wonderful hostel located in the historic center or Paraty. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, and they made my stay thoroughly enjoyable. The facilities here are great, there is a fantastic breakfast every morning from 8am - 10am, the rooms are really clean, the kitchen is very tidy and there is a comfortable common area. The location is great and the price is affordable for travelers of all budgets.

Excellent hostel, very friendly staff, comfortable place

Great location but very noisy nightclub across the street. 
We shared a 4 room female dorm- to our horror there was a 3 bed bunk with another bed squeezed underneath. If you were sleeping on the top bunk you would literally be 30cm away from the ceiling- very unsafe. 
Breakfast was fresh.
Showers were hot.
One ceiling fan and good size lockers to put some valuables in. 
Michael, the manager, is very knowledgable about the area if you ask.

Great if you are desperate.

The hostel here was great but there was a few negatives things. We stayed in a 4 bedroom dorm. The breakfast is great on time every morning, freshly baked bread, a sweeter cake - sometimes chocolate, ham, cheese and local fruits. The kind lady also washes tour dishes for you! The rooms are cleaned daily and kept super clean. There are lockers with keys to pop your important things away. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the historical centre. You feel very very safe, with the reception open till 11pm. The wifi is great working in our room and common area. Kitchen facilities are top notch! The staff here are awesome, super friendly, very helpful! The only three negative points I would make is the rooms are super super tiny, four people are definitely not supposed to fit in a 5m by 4m room. There was 4 beds packed on top of each (one fold out bed and then the top one literally had about 30cm to the roof!). Both nights when we had 4 people the two girls refused to stay in the top bunk, because there is no safety area if you fall out and it's soooo close to the ceiling it's quite frightening - no room to move.. Secondly, It can get very noisey at night being in the historical centre and there's a loud pub across the street, so if you want a peaceful night sleep - not going to happen. Thirdly, we were in a four bedroom dorm, this situation happened twice in our four night stay, at about midnight the door opened (no knock) with the staff member opening the door, switching on the lights and bringing  people in to show them the room, then he would come in again 20 minutes later to let them in the room, then the girls would have to make their beds. I understand you are in a hostel but still, this happened twice, without knocking, no warning and then an hour ordeal or showing them the room, making beds etc. Great hostel, few things few things need to be improved. 

Great hostel but needs a few improvements 

This should not be classed as a hostel - it seems to be a family home with rooms to rent out for the night. Our bedroom window shutters were baricaded shut which made it very dark and we later realised it was not a window at all but backed on to a private part of the house. The very small communal area appears to be the family´s living room and the kitchen leaves very much to be desired. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm which had an overwhelming smell of wee, which oddly, didn´t appear to be coming from the ensuite toilet! The toilet paper bin had not been emptied before or during our stay of 3 nights. There were exposed electrical wires in the bathroom and the light did not work. The bathroom, and its ´vent´, also backed on to the kitchen - nice!

The positives we were able to take from staying here: Low season so actually had the dorm to ourselves (2 of us), In the centre of the old town so could not fault location at all, breakfast was basic but included in the small nightly fee of 20 reals. Also, free computer/wifi use.
