This was the starting point of our world trip and it immediately felt like home. The ladies were very friendly and they helped us a bit to get around. The double room was small but enough. We slept in the corcovado room where we could thee Christ The Redentor. That was quite nice! The kitchen is small but everything works! I would recommend this hostel to every traveller.

Budget hostel, very friendly!

This hostel is a great escape from Rio.  The staff is very friendly and were very helpful.  The owner Helena is wonderful and is very involved with the running of the hostel.  They have a maid who comes everyday and it is clean.  It is very simple but provides all the basic needs of a hostel.  The location is also great, easy bus rides to Copacabana and Sugar Loaf mountain.  Made our stay in Rio wonderful!!  Would recommend to anyone!

Great People

The people that work here are very helpful and friendly.  The location is close to the bus and metro.  Botafogo is a good place to stay as it is a little outside the tourist areas and a good value. this area of Rio has easy access to the prime beaches and the Centro.  The accommodations themselves are VERY basic.  I paid $50/day for a private room.  The room had a private bath.  So, if you are looking for a safe and clean place to sleep this might work for you.

Staff is friendly, good locatioin, but the accomodations are rough

Tha place is overcrowded, there is not enough space to have your breakfast in the morning or cook your meal in the evening. Room where we stayed smelled awfull ( when we asked if we can change the room the receptionist said they all smelled the same...). When we asked if we could leave the bags until 6pm as our bus was leaving at 11pm the receptionist said they didn´t have a place to keep them but if we want to leave them after 3pm we have to pay R10 per bag...that was for keeping it under the table in the common area ( no security of course...). When I mentioned that we have never been charged for leaving the bags I was shouted at and told that I can take my bags and go if I don´t want to pay...So I have to say nothing about this place is worth recommending: the atmosphere, staff, service. Nothing!

This is not the place to stay to enjoy Rio!, bathrooms, mattresses and bed linens are dirty - the whole place is in serious need of a make over and refurbishmenr!

There is a nice hostel two doors away called Misti Hostel!
