It is very old but very well located (front to sea and in its vicinity there is a wide variety of shops).Although it requires investment for any inconvenience to be solved immediately.The very good attention from all staff.

 Beneficial cost ratio 

The hotel is very old, but its location in front of the sea and central tea makes you forget that, ideal for those who don't spend much time in the room, has wifi and restaurant next door, retail less than a block and the room has air conditioning, that was the best jajaja, 190 reales for 2 people a night, with breakfast.

It was almost impossible to drive a private car up to the hotel but having parked our car nearby, we were told at the reception desk that they had got us down for 2 single rooms (in spite of having booking confirmations requesting a double and a twin room for our family of 4). 

On finally getting to our rooms, we found one was a nice double with a decent view on the 8th floor, while the twin room was like a musty prison cell on the 4th floor, with a view of the interior hotel well, a broken TV, no bath plug, no extra towels, no ventilation in the bathroom, a somewhat unappealing carpet, and altogether a most depressing ambience... no chance of changing the room as the hotel was fully booked.

The lifts were slow and outdated, the so-called swimming pool was more like a jacuzzi plunge pool, there were far too few places to sit near the pool and an expensive Eur 5 beer was served in a plastic beaker.

In its favour, the hotel location is excellent, but our 4th floor room was shaken by passing metro trains - lower floors must suffer even worse. I'd strongly advise potential guests to avoid room 462.

I don't know how the hotel star system works, but this hotel is worth 2-3 stars at most and 4 stars is a joke.

Tale of Two Rooms

The hotel from the outside is very neglected, however it has an excellent location in front of the beach and nearby shopping centers.Moreover, it should be said that the cleanliness of the place is impeccable and very well cared for at the reception.

A very well-located hotel, the lack of investing money to stay, the old and neglected furniture, the uncomfortable bed, poor food...a pity the building is historic.

This is a hotel that has a good location, close to tourist attractions and the beach, but does not have a service that deserves more stars.

Old hotel but clean and nice and helpful people. There is a parking in back of hotel which is very good. The location is very good, just in front of the beach. But be careful of what room you choose: the rooms with a splendid view are not ok to sleep , because of the noise of the traffic. The back rooms are quiet. The breakfast place has a very nice view also to the ocean.

Old hotel, good people, very good location

Very old pre-war hotel never renovated. Room with stinking bathroom. The only thing nice is breakfast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the gardens along the beach. The city is beautiful, the beach is well taken care of in every detail. Only the hotel disappointed me.

I'm staying in Santos.

We booked stayed 17-19 March 2012 prior to taking a cruise from Santos.

The hotel fronts the beach. Santos has a very acceptable beach with umbrellas for use. Venders sell food and drinks. The beach has a great holiday feel to it. We liked it very much. 
 
Booked online via an online using a booking agency. Upon arrival at the hotel the taxi door was opened by an hotel valet and we were assisted with our luggage from taxi to our room. The desk clerk had a file ready complete with our booking details. The desk clerk spoke english and was most helpful, polite and respectful. We found all staff to be helpful and with a smile.

The room had all basic needs in working order, was clean and freshly painted.There are no decorations such a hanging pictures as such.

The hotel breakfast is to be found on level 3 and diners have a fantastic panoramic view of the beach and ocean. The food was very good, fresh tropical papaya, honey dew melon, and pineapple. There was a selection of cakes and breads, cheese and ham slices as well as scrambled eggs and hot dogs portions. It is a buffet service style...

Breakfast with a panoramic view of the Santo Beach and ocean.

When we checked in we got a room that stunk badly of smoke.  When we told them, they gave us a suite that faced the beach for the same price which was really nice (they were pretty much full and this was the last room left and we had already paid for three nights). The workers at the front desk were really nice. There was a man that was especially nice and got us the better room. He spoke very good English. I don’t think that many of the other workers spoke English though. The hotel is really run down. In the lobby the tile is cracking off everywhere. The rooms could use paint jobs really bad. I would recommend bringing flip flops to shower with.  The shower's drain was terrible and it was more like taking a bath with a shower.  The water pressure was really good though as was the temperature. The bed was very hard and uncomforatble. I woke up with mosquito bites every morning which was not fun. The rooms are pretty clean though. However, it is also very loud since the hotel is situated by the AV. Pres. Wilson street. Also, our room was right above the restaurant below, which played music until 12:00pm 2 our of the 3 nights we were there. The hotel is very stuffy and has bad lighting. If you are from another country you will also need converters since they only have 220V outlets. Breakfast was very bad as well. The breakfast room is very pretty though with a great view of the beach. Even though we got the suite for the same price as the cheapest room, it still is not worth the price.  The TV is small and hard to see. Also many of the channels didn’t work and the ones that did were horrible. We saw a naked man on one channel and quickly changed it and there was a naked girl on the next. Not very family friendly. This hotel was probably really nice in its day, but now is in need of major repairs. I would say that this is barely a 1 star hotel not 3.
