Old hotel, but poorly cared. The room I stayed in didn't get wifi, it was full of traces and smelled of mold.

Disappointment

We had a terrible experience with the inner parking lot of the Pousada. Three giant trucks were placed after my entry, in ways that made it impossible for my vehicle to leave on the night of June 30/23.

In the parking lot you enter but you don't leave. Don't be warned that if you enter you'll be stuck on giant paths.

We arrived suspiciously and defensively, for one night, merely to step in, with the plan to leave early in the morning, influenced by some comments, but once on site, conquered by the charm of these buildings full of history and spirituality, we stayed there for a week. It is one of the surprises of this Brazil full of contrasts, colours and exotic atmospheres of surprisingly eclectic juxtapositions. For us, staying in such a place, we consider it a privilege, and the improvements that have been made to make it a hotel, although sometimes seemingly unsuitable for the place, have been made in a spirit of preservation of the original monuments.

Very well located, spacious rooms, good swimming pool and a very varied breakfast. The architecture of the convent takes us back centuries with its thick columns.

I 'll be back

I visited the convent for an amazing lunch! I had a shrimp and fish moqueca with a ton of side dishes that kept me fed for two days. The mango juice tasted as though they just picked the fruit and squeezed it directly into the glass. Great attentive staff! The property is beautiful and the birds were a delight to hear as I enjoyed my meal.

Amazing food in a wonderful atmosphere!

On the 15th, 16th and 17th of January 2022, I was able to enjoy a very interesting experience staying at the Pousada do Convento in the city of Cachoeira. This establishment has a good location, comfortable accommodation and good service. The breakfast was very satisfactory, the rooms are of good size, clean and well-arranged. I enjoyed the experience so much that I intend to return. I already knew the historic city of Cachoeira.

I'm not sure what I'm saying.

A convent converted into a hotel, very old, with wooden floors that rust when you walk around, the cleanliness is good and the room is reasonable, the service is very good, the breakfast is reasonable, but the high score is in the service, always attentive.

Simple but pleasant.

Our experience with the convent's hostel and the city of Cachoeira itself was a very rewarding experience. The welcoming space, the great location, the great service have left us certain that a new visit to the city of Cachoeira is a guaranteed program.

A journey through the historic Cachoeira

Pousada do Convento do Carmo is an atmospheric hotel located in the former Carmelite monastery. The hotel has a nice patio and a small swimming pool. The rooms are on two floors, second-floor rooms are more comfortable. The furnishings are a little dated, but adequate. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The buffet breakfast offers many Bahian specialities. The location cannot be better, next door to the Church of Ordem Terceira do Carmo, a jewel of Brazilian colonial architecture. The ancient city hall and Rio Paraguacu are just steps away. The city of Cachoeira is an undiscovered gem of Brazilian colonial architecture, just 120 km from Salvador.

Stay in a former monastery

I was disappointed with the hotel. First of all, as soon as we arrived we headed to the reception area and we met a lady on the phone. Even after we arrived, she kept on the phone and barely paid us any attention. We waited a little longer. Then we asked again for her to be attended to and she kept on talking normally on the phone. When she finally finished the call and decided to attend to us, she didn't behave very polite and was a little rough... (we found out after we knew that she was one of the roommates, imagine!). When we asked to see some of the rooms (one of them was in the apartments), we found out that one of the rooms was already full. I also think that we didn't get this communication from the hotel and guests. Finally, we took a look at the rooms on the other side and we saw (a nice receptionist) that she was in the next room. (We finally got to know that she was one of the roommates, imagine!). But it was a very nice thing to walk around the hotel, especially because it was very nice!
