We have stayed as couple for almost 2 weeks in the big room with private bathroom and terrace. The room is cosy, spacious and has a bit of a seaview. It doesn't have really a wall (it is bamboo/wood), so it might be noisy and "not that private". 
The location and facilities are perfect for kitesurfers: next to the kitesurf spot; free kitesurf gear storage facilities; place to clean up the gear. The environment is very friendly. The breakfast is good. The room is cleaned up well every day. It is a bit far from the town (15-20min walk), but you are on the kitesurf spot. They were very kind to let us checking out late, as the room was free that evening. 

I would recommend the place to the kitesurfers. The place has also dorms and it is easy to meet up with people (if you are a solo traveller). It is even better if you speak some French.
The wind in Gostoso is the best from 10am to 15:00 and it might turn to (side-)offshore afterwards. There are safety boats (just in case something goes wrong).

Great spot for kitesurfers

I've just returned from 2 weeks at Albergue Da Jangada in Gostoso as part of Kite Camp Pro's November camps (https://www.kitecamppro.com). I'm not sure how you really describe this fab little 'lodge' suffice to say that it is right by the beach, right by the main kite school (owned by Remy and Bea who also own the pousada), right by Jack Sparrows bar and right by a family of mini monkeys. Truly fabulous. Remy and Bea. are fab hosts and have created a little oasis in this sandy environment. Hammocks to relax in, beds that swing on ropes, large group tables to eat at and a good sized BBQ all make for an interactive stay with whoever is there at the time.

The rooms are really nice and open to the wind which keeps them cool (no need for aircon. in November but they do have fans). Each has it's own shower, basin and toilet which was all I really needed and the staff clean the rooms each afternoon which was a nice touch.

The breakfast team arrives early each morning to prepare a nice and varied buffet of fruit (mango, watermelon, pawpaw etc) as well as fresh juices, eggs, toasties etc. The coffee is not bad either and there's always enough food so that you can eat as much as you like. Mind you with all the ‘six packs’ on the beach you might well find yourself on a sliming campaign.

For lunch there's a communal fridge if you want to shop or you can also arrange (ahead of time) a lunch at the pousada across the road who also can do some food at their small bar by the kite shed area. Dinner options are all within walking distance and are varied from sushi to pizza, fresh fish and even filet mignon.

This place is fantastic for people coming to kite and windsurf who want to meet other people and are not wanting 5* air-conditioned rooms. They have some really well priced dorm options with separate male and female toilet areas too so a group could book up those as well. Both Bea and Remy speak English very well and can assist with many local tours, car hire etc from the reception.

And the most fun thing for me was meeting the little monkeys that appear at breakfast in the hope of the warm, just out of the oven, cake that the breakfast team make most mornings. I miss this place already and many of the other guests were looking, like me, at property prices in the near vicinity. That says it all really. Can't wait to get back there.

Location Location Location

Such a great stay in São Miguel! They have the hostel option or the "Pousada" option. People are very friendly and helpful. Higly reccomended, specially if you are looking for the best kitesurf lessons in town. 
They do not have air conditioned in shared rooms and the shower was not that hot (but who cares, you are in one of the hottest places on earth, lol).. AH! no pool!
