Overpriced establishment. They do not give you a menu and charge you as they wish. For 4 drinks and 3  cakes over 43 lv. Daylight robbery. Even when I asked for menu I was told that they would TELL me the menu. How stupid I was to sit there.

We are a family of four who have been visiting Bansko to ski for several years now. This year we decided to stay outside Bansko and book Hotel Makedonska Kruchma in Dobriniste for a week in March. I would like to say a big thank you to everybody at the hotel for making this year's vacation the best yet.

Hotel Makedonska Kruchma is 10 mins drive from Bansko. The hotel is charming in appearance and the rooms are clean and traditional. Ours was a suite made up of a double bedroom with modern ensuite bathroom, and a living area that had two single beds, a sofa, armchair, coffee table, minibar fridge etc. There was a tv in both rooms, showing news, sports and entertainment channels (most in Bulgarian language but some were in english language with Bulgarian subtitles, e.g. Animal Planet). The bedroom had a spacious balcony with comfortable chairs and a view of the mountains. In response to a previous commenter, we were not at all disturbed by noise from the restaurant, even at the weekend when it was very busy, and we never noticed any cigarette smoke - our room was quiet and peaceful. There is no ski drying/storage room in the hotel - we left our equipment to dry in the car and dried our gloves in the room. The staff are professional, friendly and some speak excellent english which was useful because we have not made much progress in learning bulgarian language. A very kind lady even did some laundry for us.

The food at Hotel Makedonska Kruchma is sensational. The menu is long and includes bbq, salads, vegetable dishes and desserts. The local wine is lovely. Breakfast is included with your stay and offers Bulgarian dishes e.g., omelette, fried bread, yoghurt, ham, cheese and herbal teas. Since our family are a bit stuck in our ways for breakfast, we got our own muesli and black tea from the supermarket, which we had with the hotel's yoghurt, local jam/honey and toast.

The hotel has a little swimming pool, a nice hot tub and a lovely sauna and steam room. All are indoor and very clean. Slippers and towels are provided but not bathrobes. We used the hotel spa a bit but our habit is to go to Banya for the outdoor hot springs.

This hotel is a true delight and it was a privilege to stay there. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Makedonska Kruchma.

Beautiful and charming

we are using Makedonska Kruchma for many years. Rustic place for stay and nice restaurant. Close to mountain , sauna and  hot water pool. Service is good and people are friendly and handy. I recommend strongly the place. Enjoy.

nice place to stay and try food

Four four. £65, $NZ80 BGN 165. Salad starters. The bean salad and Snow White salad deserve special mention. Tomato paste and garlic bread were excellent. Chicken livers supreme. Mains were chicken kebab, pork kebab ( both on skewers ) black pudding country sausage and a cured pork platter. We had piquant boiled potatoes, with dill and paprika. Good bottle of local merlot, water and coffee included.

Same meal in Bansko would have cost double.

Bulgarian barbecue

We stayed at this hotel for one night. Before coming to this hotel , we had seen two more hotels. The moment we reached here, we fell in love. The check in was quick. Rooms are small but clean . Being a Saturday, there was huge gathering at their restaurant. Initially we liked the atmosphere but at the bedtime one doesn't want the noise. Also lot of people smoke in the restaurant which can travel up to room. Inspite of keeping windows closed , its hard not to have passive smoking . There is complimentary breakfast which is made to order. It's fresh and delicious. Overall we were happy with our decision of staying here.

Clean rooms with rustic decor 

At night the music from the big restaurant in the same building is extremely load until 1 or 2 a.am, absolutely unacceptable for a hotel. all the rooms are just above the restaurant and if you want to listen to a really bad gypsy orchestra go there.
