Tofana Hotel

Good hotel and very good location. Away from city center. only for skiers. cleaning is average. We relaxed. I recommend this hotel without children. on the other hand Bansko and ski pists ver crowded and expensive. 

Hotel is old but in a perfect location - in the forest, far away from the crowd and noise. 
It is awesome if your goal is to relax and ski, without too much partying. 
It is next to the beginners slope so you can practice there or you can catch gondola at middle station nearby without waiting (usually it is 1hour+ wait in the city). 
Breakfast is decent.
Good value for the money.

Great for peaceful retreat and skiing

Good hotel...

It has a very nice location in the woods, so if you do winter sports or just want to enjoy the woods it has a perfect location. You avoid the crowded road in morning and afternoon and have a stress free stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady does a very good job on a daily basis, which is a big plus traveling with a child. It is clean, a bit outdated and in need of couple of investments, but nothing that would ruin your stay. The main cupboard was smelly and moldy but the toilet was renovated and clean.The food is not so good for my taste, so we dined in Bansko, which may be a problem if you don' t have a car. There is no elevator and the rooms on the ground floor don' t have a balcony. The heating pauses during the day for cleaning, it was a bit cold for our one year old who had to nap in that time, but they offered a heating panel. The outside terrace is wonderful even on cold nights. With couple of updates this would be above average place.

If you are there for the nature this is the place for you

We booked via Booking.com, room with balcony (useless, unless you plan to stay all day in the hotel, is 1,5 square meters).
7 days, with breakfast, which is army style, bland coffee, some scrambled eggs and cheese, macaroni (??!) and chimical jam. 
You have to be there among the first guests, otherwise the food will be gone fast and they don’t refill the trays. 
Small and moist room for ski and boots, staff (except for manager) doesn’t understand a bit of english. 
There is sauna, with a small surprize, it costs 9 leva per person. After 4 sessions, by myself, I was informed about the price, I wasn’t too happy about that. 
Our room had 90% moisture, the carpet in front on the balcony door was allways wet, mold on the carpet/wall near the area. 
Light in the bathroom was with a motion sensor timed for 5 seconds, using the toilet was a total workout, I had to wave my hands to trigger the sensor. 
Now, the good part:
- Bansko is great, food is amazing and cheap. 
If is cold and enough snow, you can have a great day on the slopes. 
Hotel Tofana has a perfect location, 100 meters from Chalin Valog ski lift or from slope nr1 (summer road) which ends at the gondola, you can end the day straight in the hotel. 
If you are here only for the ski, the hotel is good. Otherwise, please choose some other place. 

Moderate experience

Only for passionate skiers, because you do not have to wait 1,5 hour on morning climb to the pistes by gondola. Otherwise, the hotel is old and needs renovation in every term. A bit of cold rooms but the stuff gives heating panels. The staff very helpfull and kind.
