The reception staff rude and not very helpful, always with an attitude 
Food disappointment, not much choice, very poor quality products used , breakfast foods overcooked for lunch 
Only one pool out of 4 was open and it was very dirty, 
Advertising 5 restaurants and only one was opened 
Animation team great guys but only 2 of them there was nothing for he adults in the evening 
Bar drinks were ok , but loads of improvement needed in staff
Rooms nice and clean , change bedding every 2 days 
But didn’t replace used shampoo and shower gel since arrival.
The was no activities for the kids at all , as in pictures , no kids room no kids pool , 
Aqua park was closed 
No beds on the beach, even though it  says beach hotel on the website 
Hotel is beautiful and has loads of potential, but management and reception staff brings it all down . 
Wouldn’t go back or recommend to anyone.

Disappointed

Our stay at the Sunset Resort was a mixed bag.
Our 3 bedroom apartment was spacious clean with a beautiful sea view.  Maid service daily.
Although our apartment had a washing machine it would not work. Reception were unhelpful saying it was up to the owners to fix it. 
As we booked through jet2 we were unaware that the hotel let out apartments owned privately. 

Reception on the whole let this place down.
Not very helpful and certainly not welcoming.
As they are your first experience of the hotel this is a real negative and cannot be attributed to the Bulgarian way of dealing with people.
Other staff were nice.

The hotel has lots of facilities- pools slides etc but I would agree with others that some maintenance is needed. This place has a 5 star appearance but below the surface there are let downs.

The food was varied. Always something to eat but it was mostly tepid which is not good. The hot plates in the buffet were never hot so food got cold quickly. The desserts were lovely.

All inclusive drinks were OK.  The bar upstairs where you pay for drinks was worth it. Lovely terrace to sit and drinks were much better. The bar staff were friendly too.

The kids club staff deserve mention. Really nice to the children. Entertainment at night was mixed.
Not much atmosphere.

The water park was good especially as it was part of the all inclusive deal but again it looked tired.

We enjoyed our stay especially as it was not busy at the resort . This place could be fabulous but attention is needed . Jet2 should really be looking at the issues here. 

Probably wouldn't go back without major improvements which is a shame because the apartments themselves are great.

Could have been better

As many has said before. This hotel has so much potential if only time and effort was invested.

Customer service
The animation team are fantastic and work very long hours either running the day clubs organising adult games around the pools, the kids disco at night or the evenings entertainment.
The bar staff are hit and miss some are friendly and enjoy their job the others shouldn't be in this industry if they don't like serving people. There was one girl who touched when placing a order for 4 drinks (2 of them were soft drinks).
The reception staff were very direct and not particularly helpful. We initially requested two rooms next to each other initially at the time of booking and again a couple of months before our holiday via email which we got an agreed email. When we asked about this we got blank looks and no offer to rectify the problem. It resulted in constant visits to the reception to see if the situation changed throughout our stay.
Also initially our room had a view of the front of the hotel where you can see waste land and a car wash and a convenience store.
Eventually when we got our move we had a the sea view but the rooms sizes greatly differed.
In terms of the actual room sizing. They are great for a family of 4, although the balcony offers two chairs, and the kitchen glassware is for 2 as well.
The bedroom are good sizes and beds are comfortable.
Food - as many has suggested, the buffet restaurants contents are very repetitive. Lots of beige food hardly any vegetables. We tended to visit the restaurant near the main pool for lunch and then main restaurant for dinner. We did eat in the seafood restaurant and the Asian restaurant and both were much nicer with better quality wine (I could be wrong on this). We did celebrate a birthday during our holiday which we had in the asian restaurant and they went above and beyond which was really special.



2 family's holiday

Pools needed a clean out, food was average but OK, reception staff were rude, apart from one young man who was pleasant and helpful.  Entertainers were very young, nice people but the night time entertainment wasn't up to much, the old guy playing the piano and singing every night was our highlight of the night. Outside dining room was nice but when you're trying to eat your dinner and people are sat smoking around you, it's extremely rude. This area was  fenced off as part of the dining room due to there being not enough tables inside.  This needs changing to no smoking, enough places to smoke without this! Waterpark was good fun, also a bit run down and needed a good clean but worth a visit. Bus stop outside the hotel, you can take the bus to Nessebar, well worth a visit. Shops down the street from the hotel-not a lot to see other than souvenirs.  Church at the end of the street pretty, old and worth a visit.

Miss

So we came for a week to the sunset resort.  First thought was omg what a beautiful building the rooms where spacious and clean . The bathroom had plenty of towels and also shower wash was provided which was a nice touch.  Also we had a bottle of water and coffee provided .We liked the keyless entry to rooms so you entered the room with a wrist band which was a nice touch again . 
My son had a little accident and I went straight down to reception and the maids come back so quickly and resolved the problem.  
We found the little shop over priced I got charged for 2 bottles of water goggles and a little toy 48lev. 
The swimming pools where a nice size and plenty of sunbeds to choose from. Also the 2 pool bars had plenty of drink. My daughter now has to to to AA meeting for the amount of free ice creams she had 🤣
By the Wednesday we noticed one pool being shut which we was a little unhappy about but then it didn't put a damper to the holiday as there was another pool to  go to.  
The food was okay we didn't go hungry just some ideas of food was a tad strange but we didn't come to bulgaria to have English food . 
Another nice little touch was the pool towels you was given a card at check in and then go collect your towels and then change them every day . 
We also got to see two weddings whilst we was there for holiday which again was lovely to see .
Entertainment well.......... was very boring quiz twice dancing under stars twice and then bingo . 
My daughter enjoyed the kids dancing but was only for 30 minutes.  We had a sea view room so if you can afford it go for it because the view is amazing.

Lovely holiday but

The hotel itself was tired. Lots of lose tiles and slabs everywhere. My son cut himself in the pool with a sharp tile. This was reported but it wasn’t acknowledged.  The rep from jet 2 was great but it didn’t seem like the hotel was interested in any feedback at all. 
Food wasn’t great and very samey night after night. 
The kids club and childrens entertainment was AMAZING. all staff that worked there were so good with the children and nightly entertainment. They really made the hotel. 
The water park was easy to get too and being part of all inclusive also made the trip. 
You have to pay extra for drinks and su beds on the beach. 


Great potential

Stayed in studio apartment with my daughter for one week. Really enjoyed , lovely hotel- very spacious and clean. Great location. The only down side is the food not always hot but great choice . Would stay again.

We stayed all inclusive for a week.  Family of 5, a 15 year old, a 12 year old & a 6 year old.   We arrived & reception staff were pleasant.   We were able to grab something to eat at the buffet sapphire restaurant before it shut for the night which was handy.  We went to our room, which was a beautiful 2 bedroom sea view apartment.   We couldn’t have asked for better.   Loads of space & was immaculately clean, shower great, air con fine.   If I had a suggestion to improve on the accommodation it would be more outdoor furniture for the huge outdoor terrace area.  Maids cleaned everyday & left clean towels daily.  What I loved the most, was the all inclusive wrist band was also your door key…..amazing, no carrying of key cards.    You also get basic toiletries in the room.   The hotel itself was always clean, and you often saw the cleaning staff out early keeping on top of this.  The pools were fantastic, catered for all.   Shallow areas in most, plus deeper for the older children.   A huge plus side was that  you never had to worry about getting a sunbed, there was more than plenty.  The only downside would be that the pool with slides can only be accessed via stairs.  We were with friends who had a pushchair, so we had to carry the pushchair up & down to access, however there were great other options for pools should you choose not to do this.  
The water park opposite was also fabulous, again no worry at all about getting a sun bed, there was more than enough & wasn’t overcrowded.   Big sun covers too for shaded areas.   We were lucky to time it right to enjoy a foam party at the water park, which was on a Sunday.  There is an area for all inclusive guests to get drinks and ice creams.  Food is chargeable, we ate there & was happy enough with what we got.   Slides were enjoyed by my teenage children & there was more than enough slides for my 6 year old within the 2 areas for younger children.   
We went to the spa on the last day, didn’t have any treatments, was good.  A few rooms, saunas, steam rooms, herbal baths, infrared etc, but unfortunately no one around to show you how some of these work, so I feel we didn’t get the full benefit.   Something that would make this area better would be to have toiletries in the showers.   You can ask at reception & they will give you a body wash but no shampoo/conditioner.  
Evening entertainment was enough for us.   The entertainment team, tried hard.  Lots of water aerobics, water polo etc in the day and the evening entertainment was good enough for us.   Normally started with a childrens disco followed by an in house act.   Very child/family orientated, normally finished by 10pm ish.  A few simple changes however and this could be so much better, just running a party playlist for an hour 10pm-11pm would be great, bingo, quizzes, they are missing a projector.    
The beach was nice, a couple of water sports options for extra charge, sea was warm.  We didn’t visit the beach bar so can’t comment on that.    We done a day trip to Nessebar old town, took the bus from outside the hotel & taxi back.  The bus is a lot cheaper than a taxi but the bus gets extremely crowded & very hot.  While in Nessebar we had lovely cocktails & a meal by the sea, it was beautiful. 
Now the not so good.   Unfortunately the food/drink let’s this hotel down, no cooking stations.   Breakfast, fruit (basic bananas, oranges, nectarines, apples) cereal, hot breakfast options, pancakes (although these went within a minute of coming out) bread, croissants.   We mostly had lunch in the diamond restaurant as we found this better, pasta bakes, salad, toasted sandwiches, a few hot options, chips/ hash browns, delicious doughnuts.  Dinner was much harder to find options, however the deserts were good.  On a whole the food was quite repetitive.  It would be much better if they had themed nights like other all inclusive buffet restaurants.   Only 2 of the bookable restaurants were open, we only ate at the Asian.   Food was nice but very limited options, the wine was better at the restaurants.  
Out of the bigger group of 9 of us, most had runny tummy’s at different points.  My 15 year old had a couple of days of tummy cramps and diarrhoea & my 12 year old also had a evening of vomiting (6 times).  We couldn’t pin point anything in particular that was causing this as it happened throughout our holiday.  We avoided ice/salad and unfortunately it made us all very weary of what we were eating.    The all inclusive drinks were ok, quite limited in the options, but we are not big drinkers, so didn’t really bother us.    On the whole a lovely hotel, that was super clean, great facilities, but not the best for an all inclusive option.

The fantastic, the ok, the could be better

First impressions were poor. Some staff rude and abrupt and totally unhelpful. We arrived 4pm hungry and thirsty but nowhere open to eat and bars we could see closed at 5pm. I suggest study the map and opening times of things well. Our room in ETA seemed so out of the way and only air con in master bedroom but things got much better and we would definitely visit again. We are 2 adults and 2 boys 11 and 4 years.
Our room had 2 bedrooms, huge living area with kitchen, fridge, freezer and washing machine,  2 bathrooms, 2 showers and a bath. At first the only working air con was in master bedroom but when I asked if there was a fan available they came out straight away and fixed the other unit in living area. Boys bedroom was still boiling though. 
ETA seemed quiet and out of the way but after a day or 2 of getting our bearings we realised it was lovely. All the pools were great, the waterpark fantastic and has foam party 2pm everyday in good weather. The restaurants were fine, pleny of choice you won't go hungry. The times we found were earlier than other holidays but we soon made it work, there are plenty of eating areas with varying opening times. 
The beach is so close and the sea so warm. It was amazing. The inflatable sofa on jet ski was a huge family favourite. We loved it. The evening entertainment was good. Kids disco at 8pm which again is earlier than other holidays but actually was great.
Nely on reception was super helpful and she deserves a mention. The room was cleaned and towels changed daily. We stayed on the resort most days apart from a taxi to nessebar old Town. 50lev I taxi. Very very nice lots of shops/stalls plenty of restaurants and scenery the beach here was also lovely. And a walk towards pomorie with few souvenir type shops .
The hotel is very spacious and clean and never a fight for sunbeds. Pool towels are included free. The indoor pool was lovely with a slide for kids when the sun was too much. There is a kids club with indoor play frames and toys and crafts and an outdoor play park along the beach. All In all we have had a fantastic holiday and would return and recommend.

Sunset resort

Where to start? When booking this hotel/ area you need to remember its in Eastern Europe. The people are shy and can be very abrupt, and a lot of the staff spoke little English.  Also the food - it is plentiful but a bit bland and was often cold. There’s no grills or areas where you can have food freshly prepared which os something which would be beneficial. The drinks were hit and miss, no tonic for your gin and after a couple of days the wine was ok. The cocktails quality depended on the member of staff making it!!  

Only 2 of the 4 a la carte restaurants were open which was disappointing- especially in August. The food for breakfast and lunch was Ok but the evening selection wasn’t great - but I think this is a reflection of the country as people in other hotels said similar things. Also - don’t visit the restaurants at the last minute - the staff pile in and clean up so quickly!!

We went to Nessebar in a taxi which was great for a trip out and Pomorie centre is well worth a visit too.

The hotel itself is great, well planned out with 4 separate  pool areas, the waterpark and the beach. We only had fleeting visits to the beach as it didn’t belong to the hotel and beds were 10 lev each - also the beach bar isn’t all inclusive as its on the public beach. However, it was good to have it so handy for a swim.

Our room had a gorgeous sea view and was a good size. The bath and the shower cubicle both leaked, so every evening we had about 1cm of water all over the floor. I did report it a couple of times to no avail!!

The 3 bedroomed apartments are HUGE and some 2 and 3 beds have washing machines - which would have been really handy - so I’d email and request a room with one if I went again.

The rooms were cleaned daily, the pool area was clean and plenty of comfy sunbeds.  

We met some lovely people and had a good holiday but the food really let the hotel down and we ate out 5 evenings which you don’t normally expect when going all inclusive!! 

Would we go back ? I don’t think so but we had a good time
