A very cosy hotel, with great, friendly and super kind staff. Feels like home. Very nice, clean and beautiful place. Stufff very friendly,polite and helpful. Good breakfast. I will recommended at all.

Amazing place, amazing staff

We stayed at the Victoria nearly 10 years ago, so thought we would give it another go his time around too.
Its a simple hotel, but it gets it right where it counts.
Its very clean, the rooms are comfortable and better than you might expect and the staff are friendly.
People mention the food as being bad..... its not, its fine. Some of the dishes arent great but conversely some are really lovely.Its basic, but what do you expect for he price?
Its about a 10-15 minute walk to the gondola, which is fine if you store your skis/board at the depot. There isnt a shuttle anymore so the taxis will set you back about £5 each way (which is alot for a 1 minute drive!).

My only real issues with the hotel is that the heating is set at a million degrees, day and night, so you have to open windows and doors to keep the heat down. Which is a crazy waste of resources. The other problem for me, which isnt the hotels fault are the dogs that live next door. They bark all day and night and although i know the hotel cant change that, it does effect sleep, bring your ear plugs.

Excellent for the money

Just got back last saturday (21/01/2012) from having a stay at victoria hotel.
As a solo traveller I was very pleased with the size of the room, usual mod cons for a 3 star hotel but had the added bonus of a bath as well as a shower which was very welcoming after a days snowboarding.The bed was very comfortable and clean.No towel change daily unless you ask. There is no lift and the stair carpet has rods to keep it in place most of which are not secure so be aware ! The food...... Breakfast was disappointing as was the evening meal if I'm totally honest.The staff are very pleasant and accomodating despite the language barrier but a nod or some gesture gets you where you need to be.The brochure I read stated that the slopes where 600m from the hotel....this is not true its further and all up hill so in thick snow its a trek before you start your activity.The brochure also stated that there is a free shuttle bus this also is not the case however there is a man with a mitsubishi mini bus and for 3 lev (at this time) will take you to more or less the slopes.The wifi is not free but not too expensive but your on your hols anyway.Beer is very cheap .
All in all the staff do the best they can with what they have to work with and at the end of the day it is 3 stars and you definately get what you pay for...

HOTEL VICTORIA BOROVETS

We have just got back from a week in Borovets and we stayed at the Hotel Victoria.
The first thing that will hit you as you walk into the building is a smell of stale smoke - but don't be put off.  Running around the building is a glass porch and this is the only place in the building where you are supposed to smoke - they discourage smoking on the balconies!

There is a small lounge and reception desk/bar on the ground floor.  Yes the furniture is dated, but the chairs are comfy and the place is clean.

The dining room is down a flight of stairs in the basement.  This is where the main bar is.
I can not say what breakfast was like as we didn't try it, but other guests told us it was typical Bulgarian - meat, cheese fruit and the occasional egg.  There is toast and cereal.

The evening meal consists of 4 courses and is nothing flash or fancy.  First course is salad, usually a side plate with some sliced tomato and cucumber.  Second course is soup, usually a choice of two (the potato soup was delicious).  The main course varied each day with a choice of three or four things served with chips. and finally dessert is either fruit or cake.

The room we had was clean and spacious with a double bed with two single quilts! There are no tea/coffee making facilities so I would advise taking a kettle etc, also there was no hairdryer (pleased I took mine).

The staff are friendly and do not push for tips.

My only complaint would be that the rooms are far too hot, even with the windows open.

The only thing that would put me off staying here again is the walk into resort.  It takes about 20 minutes and is uphill all the way but the hotel does have a minibus that will take you into resort for about £1.50

Hotel Victoria, Basic but good.

The lobby is nice, but on closer examination the entire place is about 5 years too late for a paint job. There were a number of maintenance problems, including no heat in the suite (I had the Presidential Suite)

I had 1000 leva (500 euro) stolen from my baggage in the room by either housekeeping or maintenance.
