What can I say.. Silvia and her husband are the best hosts you can have. Although they also run an amazing restaurant they will take care of every guest in the same way and will be there to help with all the right suggestions that a local has. In other words, all the bad “touristic aspects” are out of the window and the good ones stay. The apartments are well equipped and clean. And the view you can judge yourself from the pictures… bu the way.. the window you barely see in the daylight picture was ours. When I will go back I could stay nowhere else.

A place to stay that makes a unique place all that more special

We travelled as a group of 10 so we decided to pay for the full house and it was a great value for what it offered. it had 5 rooms, some of them could have more than 2 people, and 5 bedrooms as well. As our stay was in the winter (early december), it was really important for us to be at a warm place. And I must say, it wasnt just warm, it was really HOT! Each room had an air-con remote on the wall, so everyone could regulate the temperature up to their liking. Another great benefit of the place is its great location - it's right on the main craftsmen street of Veliko Tarnovo (Самоводската чаршия) and very very close some of the most famous place to eat like Stratilat and Shtastlivetsa and less than 5 aways from the very center of the town.
Wifi is provided in all rooms, if anyone needs it, plus tv with lots of channels in all rooms too.
All in all, we had a great time and i wouldnt hesitate to reccomend the house to all my friends.

Great Location And Amazing place for a group of friends

Stayed for two nights in room two (at a discounted price, thanks trivago) and really loved the modern decor,exceptionally clean room and stunning view from the balcony where we enjoyed a few evening beers and night time ice creams. The location was perfect for seeing everything in VT, right on the main road with cutest little craft shops below. Would recommend!

Balcony view - excellent location

I stayed at Lion House for 6 nights with my husband and daughter (2,5y). Our room was family suite, very roomy one room with big double bed and another smaller with sofabed. Interior was clean and simple, the room included everything we needed. Althought we would have appreciated little fridge at the room. Our room was at the first floor, which was convinient with the child. The place were very quiet, very little noise from the streets. The view from our bedroom window was amazing and the view to the old towns street at the other room was also nice. Location was perfect. We made our own breakfast every morning at the shared kitchen, witch was at the bottom floor at the hotel. Only downside was that the bathroom wasn't attached to our room, althouhght it was just next to our room at the hallway and was just for us. We visited at low season time at Veliko Tarnovo, so we were mainly only guest at the hotel during the week, but I'm sure the place is as much nice and quiet at the peak season too. Staff (situated at the near restauranta and wine shop) was helpful and arranged the late check out for us without extra payment. We can recommend Lion House for everybody who appreciates good location and apartment style hotel life.

Great place to stay

I'll start with "the bad" first, just to get it out of the way -- and these aren't "bad," they are just helpful tips.  As stated by the guest house, parking nearby "is possible."  Just make sure your car is small and you'll be fine :)  If you drive a hummer, you probably won't fit on the narrow cobblestone streets.  Also, make sure you know how/where to find the owner to let you in; and if you can't find her/them, just ask any business nearby.

We arrived during the low season; no one had booked for the same day as us.  So we got a decent price from the owner, but even the regular prices during high season are wonderful.

 The rooms are VERY clean as well as the bathrooms.  Yes, the bathrooms are "wet" (there is no separate shower area on the floor), but they provide slippers for you.  Besides, "wet" bathrooms are normal for Bulgaria.  The water gets nice and hot, and the toilets are clean.

The rooms are plain, but that doesn't bother me; I prefer minimalist style over gaudy or boring hotel decor.  IKEA furniture is cute anyways.

The views are decent, partially overlooking the museum and monument.  The kitchen area is shared on the bottom floor, along with a wonderful baby-courtyard surrounded by old walls.  We didn't go to the restaurant (however tempted), but it seemed very nice inside.

I would recommend this guest house to anyone!

Central Location, Very Clean, Decent Views

We booked to stay at the Lion Guest House very last minute, and got a great deal on the 'family suite', which was perfect for two of us as we were after a bit of space in between travels. It has two separate areas - one being the bedroom with a table, chair and twin beds, the other a sofa with table and TV. There's also a great view across the town from the big windows, plus free WiFi. 

The combined shower room and toilet are located outside the room, but privately locked, so it's still your own. Can't fault it as a place to stay: very clean (I think perhaps quite new), modern (think IKEA) and a great size. 

You pick the keys up from the Han Hadji Nikoli Inn across the street (which also happens to be one of the best rated restaurants in town, where as a guest in the Lion Guest House you receive 10% off your bill - WELL worth it!). The staff are all really friendly, and they were very helpful as we needed a late check out, so for a small fee (10 Euros) let us use the other double room until 6pm. 

The location is also perfect, perched between the old and new parts of the town. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
