We loved this place so much! It was just simply good!
We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, chillig out in the bar, beautiful natural surrounding.
The food was very good. The staff were very friendly and professional. They recomemnded very good tuk tuk drivers for tours. 
The only problem was no A/C rooms in hot days. 
I would love to stay here again if I ever come back to Kampot.

A gem guesthouse in Kampot

Friendly, welcoming place on the river. Bungalows are clean with lots of fans. Monica and her team are super hospitable and kind. The complementary fruit and cold water is such a nice touch. Free kayaking around the around was a highlight. This place is great value.

Monica, the host, is a lovely lady, she mad e us feel at home and she was always on top of everything. Her Team is lovely too!
Scooters are available for trips to Bokor National park or to explore around.
Delicious food, breakfast was definitely my favourite! 

Peaceful 

To start with, the staff at this lovely small locally run and tiny resort are extremely friendly. Always ready to service a glass of cold water and fresh fruits (for free) when you come in for a bite to eat. Their food is tasty too and there’s plenty to choose from. They can also help you out with tours, taxis, bike rental, etc. The bamboo bungalow are very cute, cozy and well taken care of, with matching interiors. The general atmosphere is very relaxed too and colorful at night with different lights. Sometimes dogs in the neighborhood and the next door bar can be heard. It’s 5 or 6km out of town, so your own transportation to get there makes things easier. Take a free kayak out for a loop (about 35 to 45 minutes) through the mangrove forest especially during sunset. I definitely recommendable this place.

Cozy tiny resort with amazingly friendly staff

We came to Retro to hire kayaks for the river. The staff were so kind, bringing us water and fruit when we arrived at no charge. We had a great time on the river and returned to have a beer and lie in the hammocks. We were again treated to the best hospitality and stayed for the most amazing club sandwich and home cut fries. The portions were huge. Amazing super chill super friendly place. I only wish we'd had more time and could have stayed...

I stayed at Retro for 3 nights and had an excellent stay. It is located a short tuk tuk ride from Kampot and has a very relaxed atmosphere, with all the staff very friendly and helpful. Every time you sit down in the communal area you are always given a cold glass of water and a fruit bowl. They also provide a laundry service and motorbikes can be rented from the property. I would highly recommend staying here, especially if you want  to get out of the centre/main area of Kampot.

Excellent stay at Retro!

A really lovely guesthouse run by Monica and her friendly staff. The little touches are what made our stay extra special. Complimentary fruit plate on arrival and at every meal, flowers arranged like hearts on our bed in our 'honeymoon' cabin, and so on.

The guesthouse is well equipped with canoes you can use for free, mopeds you can hire for $6 per day and a relaxing lounge area. Our cabin was clean, equipped with a mosquito net, hammock on the veranda and had a nice bathroom with good water pressure and hot water. The wifi is good.

If you want to tour the surrounding areas, pepper farms, etc. Ask Monica when you arrive to meet with her friend who can either take you himself or will organise for his friend to. Both speak fluent English, are really friendly and knowledgeable and will take you where you want to go, at a much better price than if you join a tour from Kampot.

The guesthouse is a distance from the centre of Kampot, so expect to pay about $3 per journey for a tuk tuk into town.

No card payments, so make sure you have enough cash.

A lovely guesthouse

The guesthouse is located directly at a side arm of the big river passing through Kampot. It offers bungalows and rooms on the upper floor of the main building. In case you are sensitive to noise go for a bungalow since sound travels well in the wooden main building. 
You can rent scooters and use their canoes. We highly recommend to take a sunset cruise on the side arm of the river with the canoes. It takes about 1.5 h at a slow pace. 
Decoration of the houses and layout of the garden is so beautiful. You feel like Robinson Crusoe. Food is delicious and portions are big. 
If you need transport to other locations they can book for you.

what a lovely guest house, all run under the very close eye of Monika and the wonderful ladies that support her.

Perfectly located, far enough out of Kampot town too be peaceful but close enough should you need to get anywhere.
The kitchen produces amazing Khmer food and the dining area / seating is a perfect place to chill and read, or just pass some time.

We had bungalow 3, set slightly back from the water. Apart from the rumble of the road, it was perfectly fine…enough space to get the stuff out the bags. The little bathroom is totally acceptable…. and everything is very clean.

Monika sorted out tuktuk transport when we needed.

relaxing and friendly

Hosted by wonderful Monika, our stay in one of the quaint rustic cabins was fabulous. Beautiful gardens. My only suggestion is they need a stronger fan above the bed but even with scorching day time temperatures it does cool down overnight. They provide kayaks to paddle the river at the doorstep - definitely worth doing! Monika is also the chef and will readily provide a small range of Khmer and western food.
