We had a reservation at the Royal Retreat Resort for 2 nights. 
I got an email prior to our arrival to give us advices on the ferrys and they also offered to send people at the pier to help us with our luggage. 

Once we arrived we had a lovely and friendly greeting from Kamila, Kris and Mike. 
During our stay they provided an exceptionnal service, with recommandations on things to do on the islands. The bungalow we were given was right on the beach with a lovely terrace to chill in the morning overlooking the sea. 
We ended up extending our stay and drink at the bar everyday for Kamila's cocktails (which are definaltey the best ones of the island) !!!

Lovely views and friendly people

We stayed there for 1 night, payed too much, for 1 standard room for 4 peoples, cold shower outside, dirty rooms (mouse faeces in the sink, bed clothes full of sand), no breakfast, no air conditioning big fan over the head making lot of noise. Mosquito nets full of holes.
A bit too expensive for what we are getting.h

We are here now with our 3 kids. We are having the best time. The room is great! Beds are comfortable. Drinks are fabulous. Service is fantastic. The view from our room is unbeatable and we have spent days by the beach front bar with our kids. Can’t recommended this place enough. 

It is 100 metres walk from the pier which we did with our little kids easily. No need to arrange any pick up.

Come spend your holiday here!!!!! 

Best place to stay. And the bartender is yum!

We were booked to stay here for 5 nights but only lasted 3. Our disappointment began when we got off the speed ferry and there was no one there to assist with our luggage and we had to walk a significant distance in the rain, on the sand with our heavy bags. There was alot of complaining from our 3 kids! There was no signage to let you know which direction to head either we just had to guess. The pier looked as if it was under construction and we were very concerned that maybe we were in the wrong spot completely. My husband went ahead to see if he could get some assistance but was greated by who we assume was the manager with no offer of help. When the kids and I arrived I asked why there was no assistance and was told that we shpuldhavelet them know when we were arriving and which pier we were going to be dropped at. Not once were we asked to do so prior to our arrival. I said some signage at the piers would be at least helpful so people knew they were heading in the right direction, this was dismissed with a condescending smile. The accomodation was basic, which we were expecting but there were holes in the linen and bugs accumulated in the mosquito nets which fell into the bed when unknotted. Cabins are not fully sealed so bugs were a big issue and the main reason we chose to move. The covered seating  area was great and it had a lovely outlook to a beautiful part of the beach.  The restaurant was closed and we not aware of this until arrival either. There are however any places to eat nearby. Vayo, right next door has great food at great prices and very friendly staff.

Not great

Well what can we say, our experience here from start to finish was amazing, we arrived to an extremely friendly welcome and a very laid back feel which is what you need in this idyllic setting. We arrived early and left our bags safely at the bar while we chilled on the beach nursing our hangovers from the day before.

We checked into our bungalow which was huge and more then we needed in size, the toilet and shower were spot on and the beds were extremely comfortable, the only thing I would suggest is a better fan in the rooms other than that they are very well looked after, clean and comfortable and most importantly great value for money.

On the night we decided to chill at the bar and just take in the setting, the music at the bar is great, very eclectic and chilled with a diverse range of old folk and even newish rock, for us it added to a what was already a great feel. We ate beef lok lak which was gorgeous! We got thr same thing from a place down the beach which was vile, even though the range of food wasn't great with the restaurant just opening what we had was honestly lovely. On our first night we were offered free French fries with our drinks and as two fat lasses we lapped that right up haha.

Mostly I have to give a massive shout out to the staff, they are so attentive and really engaged in looking after you. The owner/manager was so so friendly and we were shocked by some comments left on here previously as he couldn't have been more friendly and invested 

We read some of the comments on Booking and trip advisor and were concerned with the mixed reviews but truthfully I think some people expect too much, it's the not the hilton and it never will be but what they are trying to achieve to us has been achieved well, a gorgeous setting in the best part of the beach with amazing service.

If we ever return here we will 100% be booking back into this resort.

Perfect stay with perfect hosts 

Everything was okay even though we were not picked up by the time we arrived the dock. We were complimented with a soft drink after 20 mn walking to the hotel. However, what made me disappointed about this was the behavior of the manager/owner of the establishment on the second day of our stay. We locked our room from outside before we took a boat trip. When we came back we found that the bolt lock inside stuck in the hole and we could not open our room. One of my friends went to ask for help from the receptionist people at the bar. While she was waiting the Khmer guy to come to help us, she heard the manager talk to one another and referring to us that "don't care about them" . Just want to tell the guy that this was not our mistake, the bolt inside lock by itself and we had no mean to go in to sleep in your smelly bed. We had no choice that was why we ask for your help. I could get inside by breaking your wall, but I did not want to do so because I respect your property. But look at your words and attitude. We pay for the accommodation, and it is your responsibility to make your stay comfortable. Anyway we thank to the Khmer employee who came to help us.
