This place is better than sex. Even better is having sex while in a place that's better than sex. Then the sex is better than sex which is better than sex. So, essentially, that's "Sexxx".

Outside of Ireland throughout the continents and their countries we all stumble across what we perceive to be "Irish Bars"                                                                                               Some may serve Guinness and have the picture of a toucan on the wall which is all fine and dandy and you don't generally ponder any further.
The Irish Place is about as Irish as it gets even though you maybe in Phnom Penh the pearl of Asia. Pat the owner is definitely as Irish as they come, as are the clientele, musicians, bar music and equally importantly the spirits and ciders. Albeit i am not an Irishman myself but i have to say it was great to mingle. Pat was the perfect host and the atmosphere was buzzing in this gem of an establishment. It was worth almost missing my flight for.

Craic

What sets the irish place above other bar is character, In a lot of establishments in town they are happy to smile nod take your money and never see you again. The Irish place however is much more than that. If you are in town for a few days or weeks it's a place to go for a cold beer and a chat to local expats who can help and advise you on pretty much any topic relating to the city or country. If you are staying a little longer the place becomes home from home and the people here become your surrogate family. The beer is good, the Sunday roast is the best in PP, and the staff will go above and beyond everytime to help you in anyway they can. I loved my stay here and had to many great nights to count. If you are in Phnom Penh and you are tired of girly bars or soulless manufactured bars then get down to the Irish place, you won't regret it.

A Phnom Penh Institution

Located in one of the back streets to the north end of the city centre we stumbled across this place on one of our walks. It is not the most celubrious of locations but it was a new pub fo us. To be honest it just didn’t click with me. We sat outside and when it got dark we were attacked by missies.
Doub’t I’d go back!

Average pub - seemed a tad disorganised!

We stayed for 1 night. We tried contacting the owner through Booking.com and email, requesting an early check in, as we were arriving from Siem Reap around 5.30AM and had no reply. Arrived at the scheduled time and no one was there. The entrance is through a bikers bar, and the bar was closed. Waited for about an hour, no one showed up, left on a tuk tuk and came back later. Tried to check in twice, both times the manager wasn't there, third time was the charm. 
Room is huge, nice bathroom, no hot water. 
Tuk tuk driver said to avoid the back road, said that gangs usually hang around there. Front road was fine, had no problems at all. 

Not bad, not good

Most Irish themed bars are depressing places - two Guinness mirrors and a picture of WB Yeats. This bar is different in that it is Irish owned and has the feel of a local in a small Irish town. This means of course that you are likely to be insulted but with a smile!! The staff and locals - and yes there are locals - are friendly and helpful. Beware though, it's not up to the same standard as Raffles which is a short tuk tuk ride away but it's an awful lot cheaper.
