Great friendly place right on the river. Genuine friendly owners. Love the smoothies and great fresh coffee. A safe must stay place when in Phomn Phenomenon get to know the place through the expat locals.

Great

Very accessible location when it comes to food, the riverside, and things to do. The place also has board games and accessible wifi throughout the building, which is nice. I wish that they would offer free water to customers. I also noticed that one of the bathrooms in the dorms was broken for over a week and had not been fixed, and that should be taken care of much faster than that.

Phenomenal Location, Reasonable Price

Whilst this place is a hostel, it is more than that. It serves as a social hub for the ex-pat community in Phnom Penh. There's always a collection of interesting characters to talk with, at all hours of the day. 

The coffee is superb; I would say it serves as the flagship product of the establishment-and uses bespoke gourmet beans, resulting in a great cup of coffee.

The dormitory is also great-it's quiet, and we'll kept. During my stay there was an influx of professional hard working people there, so lots of interesting conversations and good company was available. The owner has a zero tolerance policy on troublemakers and noise, which I can only thank him for.

The bar is also good-Anchor draft is available, in addition to canned beers and a generous top shelf show casing spirits. Drinking normally happens at the Al fresco tables, where the atmosphere is always vibrant and welcoming.

If you haven't stayed here yet-you're missing out. It's hidden away from the main tourist areas, which is another plus.

All in all, I had a great stay at Riverside Backpackers.

A local hostel with a European touch

It's not a 5-star hotel but it is in a prime position, 1 minute's walk from the riverside and very cheap. The rooms and beds are clean and the staff helpful. This area is notorious for rip-offs at every twist and turn but you are safe at this establishment. The draft beer is good & fairly priced and the owner, Jacob very friendly. I have stayed here twice and the rating I give is based upon value for money. It is what it says it is and far better than most guesthouses in the same price range.

Good for the money

Location is good, in a quiet area and nearby restaurants. 
Staff is ready to help, but our room, although big enough, was cold and had no window. The lighting was not great either, which made the room quite unwelcoming. 
We we disppointed given the great reviews on this place.
