When I visited Siem Reap and was working on some archaeological research at Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples I stayed at the Angkor Secret Garden Hotel. This was back in December of 2013 so this review is a long time overdue. When I first arrived the hotel seemed to be nestled in a corner just a little ways from the main thoroughfares which was quite pleasant because it made sleeping there a little quieter. After spending a few weeks there I came to realize that the hotel was perfectly located within fair walking distance from local shopping areas and if I had wanted to I could walk to the local artisan shops. Taking breaks from exploration was very enjoyable in the hotel's courtyard where I could lounge in a hammock or sit in the eating area with fellow guests. The rooms perfect for my wife and I's needs for the trip. We brought our baby with us for the trip and the staff we very friendly and loved playing with him. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, whether it was procuring a ride in or out of town, helping us translate things we didn't know, and in general just being awesome hosts. If I get a chance to return for more research I will book there again.

Great for travelers or archaeologists on a budget

I love this hotel. My friend and I had a very good time here. Lovely room, super friendly and caring staff, delicious breakfast, very near city centre by bikes ^^ thanks for everything. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Siem Reap :x

Very good hotel :x

During our time at Siem Reap, we stayed for 2 days and 2 nights. The hotel staff brought us orange juice on arrival after a long journey. The pool was relaxing and refreshing, the rooms were clean, bathrooms had all the comforts as home and were spacious. The restaurant was the best part as we tried all the menu items and were never disappointed, only stuffed and satisfied. The drinks were delicious and fancy cocktails, the staff would return tips saying we were overcharged.Every night the hotel would supply a driver to get us to town for fun and games. Definitely recommend for anyone travelling on a budget. 

Best stay in Siem Reap

Slightly out of town (a 20 minute walk or 10 minutes on a tuktuk) small family run its spotlessly clean and their small garden style restaurants serves a limited but excellent menu.
Staff are absolutely superb, they cant do enough for you.
If you want Temple Tours and inexpensive trips out of time they will sort it all out for you.
Give it a go its a great find.

Superb Value

Me my sister and her husband were looking for somewhere simple and cheap to base ourselves for 3 nights to explore Siem Reap. This place is a short (5-10 min) ride from the main town and 15-20 mins from Angkor Wat. It exceeded my expectations with lovely staff (including someone waiting for us at the airport which was a nice touch) and a decent breakfast. They even packed us one to collect at 4.30am when heading for sunrise at the temples. It is only just off the main road but it’s not a mega busy road and still perfectly relaxing to chill by the pool with a book and a beer to unwind after a hot day walking round the Angkor Wat. The rooms are basic but big with a decent hot shower and I slept very well here. If you’re a light sleeper the road and slightly noisy aircon may trouble you but I’m not someone who struggles to sleep and for me this place was spot on. Close enough to the places I wanted to explore whilst secluded enough to relax in with lovely people who helped sort us out with transport.
