We stayed here for 3 nights and were very pleased with the staff and the room overall although it has seen better days. The problem in the area is that everyone is being priced out of the market by the Chinese so it si unlikely the owner will renew the lease in September and hence the lack of repair to things. Our shower worked intermittently, and one of the taps did not work at all. Also the safe didn't work either, but in fact it was not a problem as it was a safe place and we trusted the staff. The location is great and there are various good restaurants within very close walking distance.

A quiet lovely place in the midst of Chinese invasion

We loved the location and the accommodation was nice. The pool was unfortunately too hot to use during the day (sadly one of the main reasons we chose this place) however we managed to use it very late in the evening. The beach is amazing and you can spend days on it between the awesome beach bars. Still more quiet than the main areas of sihanoukville. The local Cambodian ppl are amazing and made our stay. Go before it gets too build up and touristy! 

Love Otres beach! 

First of all I would like to thank the staff, especially Akhara and Ruta for all their help and for making our stay a good experience after all.  The service was amazing, breakfast good, the room big and the bed comfortable. The beach was much better than I expected after reading Otres beach reviews in tripadvisor, at least when we were there, and we had great barbacues in the beach restaurant just opposite the hotel, Two Boys restaurant, the best we tried. 

 The main problem of this place is the location, unfortunately Sihanoukville is turning into a Chinese casinos place, lot of construction works around and it seems probably that in one year all these nice small hotels and beach bars will disappear.  I guess this is the reason why the manager has decided stop investing in the place, so it looks quite old and needing some restoration, also the bathroom was dirty during all our stay.

Great staff and service, but the place has seen better

When we arrived in Phnom Penh December 2018, we hired a private car and driver for the 500 kms to Otres beach, south of Sihanoukville. It was a hazardous race for the coast with neck breaking swerving in and out of a never-ending stream of trucks and construction vehicles along the entire route. Our taxi driver’s appalling driving caused a chain collision midway. Luckily, we were not injured but spent two and a half hours roadside waiting for a new car and watching the never-ending discussions between the three car owners and the police over who was at fault. When we finally arrived at “Harmony Home” in Otres beach, it was as far as you can get from “harmony” and definitely not a “home”. On one side, a huge Chinese resort complex emitted an enormous din from early in the morning to late at night. The daily electricity cuts meant generators regularly coughed into life emitting a noise level that equalled peak-hour traffic. The cuts took the Wi-Fi. The roads were a complete mess and reduced to muddy quagmires with deep potholes full of vile, stagnant warm water, and when dry, to billows of red repugnant dust. Contrasts were enormous between small tuk-tuks parked outside, alongside luxury cars in front of new boutique hotels in the streets where construction trucks lumbered along with uncovered loads blowing dust into your eyes and down your lungs. Otres beach is rapidly losing its charm, becoming a dump for uncollected construction waste, and burning rubbish that sends plumes of acrid black smoke into the air and raw sewage from squalid workers quarters into the ocean giving it a toxic caramel-coloured tinge. On our first stroll down the pine tree-lined beach, billboards announced in Mandarin new glitzy high-rise hotels under construction or soon to be built. The few seafood restaurants that dot the far end of Otres beach gave a somewhat holiday feel, however, it was hard to ignore the enormous amount of plastic refuse that oozed out of every nook and cranny. 
"Harmony Home" strives to welcome guests but is suffering from this Chinese construction assault. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is nice. Generally, the place is in need of renovation and we only saw the pool cleaned once during our four-day stay.

Still worth visiting despite the problems

I have never had a bigger disappointment then being dropped off at this hotel. The place looks like the last maintenance was done when it opened 6 years ago. The beautiful thatched roofs are falling apart with some now covered with roofing iron and other parts with tarpaulins. All the white washed walls are now grey and mouldy and the lacquer finish on the timber and bamboo has long seen better days. The grounds are un-kept and the footpaths missing sections that have never been repaired. The swimming pool is low in water and green with a large scum line around the top. The villas have various problems from no water pressure to broken furniture. Unfortunately the owner of the hotel is not spending any money on the property and it long seen better days. Such a shame as it would have been great when it opened. Please don't ruin your holiday, book elsewhere.
