Spent 3 nights at the jungle bungalows with family. We had a family bungalow and it was huge! The staff were really lovely. Olga cooks all vegan food and shows such love and passion for it! Ottres unfortunately is been bulldozed with lots of big apartments been built. Still we had a lovely time there.

Beautiful bungalows

My family and I spent 6 days at the Otres Jungle Bungalows.  We enjoyed our stay.  It’s an easy walk to the beach and a short tuk tuk ride from Otres 2 beach.  It is part of Otres Village and so there’s no shortage of places to eat.  The room can be hot (there are fans but no AC) but it’s spacious and the atmosphere is relaxing. Our beds were on the upper level via a staircase.  We’d recommend Otres Jungle Bungalows.

Very good value and location 

The bungalows are really nice, cosy and solid. The garden is full of palms plants and trees that create a lovely atmosphere. It is overall very well maintained.

Staff members were lovely. They were  very nice to me when I was sick and were ready to help me.

You can order breakfast on the night before, there are several choices but it's all "healthy stuff".(Which is a good thing, but you know, it's not for everyone). 

If this place was on the beach it would be simply perfection. Unfortunately is located in the Otres village, which now days is like a ghetto for new age-style western people (owners and clients).

Great balance quality-price

Otres Beach is currently a massive building site so I wanted a place away from that but still close enough to walk to the beach. This place fitted the bill. There are (currently) lots of small bars and restaurants nearby which was also a deciding factor.  

On arrival the Russian guy on reception was very vague and not particularly welcoming. This was a theme for the week we stayed.

There are regular power cuts in Otres Beach and to cope with this a generator was installed during our stay. This should have been a good thing but it is so loud that it ruins the whole peaceful vibe of the place. Luckily during our stay it wasn't on at night because there is no way you would be able to sleep with it on. 

The taxi arrived on the day we checked out. The reception guy could see this and knew we had to leave to get a bus, he spent ages going through the bungalow, including pulling the sheets off the bed and checking the pillows. He 'found' a damaged vase which had been like that when we arrived. Despite this he insisted on checking with the owner before allowing us to leave. This was completely ridiculous. The item in question would have cost a few dollars, if that. I could understand if the room was damaged, but this?? All for the sake of the $10 key deposit. It became embarrassing and I ended up apologising to the taxi driver for the time it was taking.

There is a large for sale or rent sign outside this place. As there are on many of the businesses in the area. It's a shame this type of small business seems to be closing in Otres Beach because I would much rather stay in this type of place than a corporate hotel. Having said that the incredibly loud generator and the Russian guy on reception were annoying. Although I don't regret booking the stay and the owner was very friendly and pleasant.

From the other side of the world, we booked what sounded to be a perfect place for our family’s Christmas holiday. The ad boasted a “little piece of jungle paradise in Cambodia, just 10 mins. walk from the beach and nestled within lush greenery in the heart of Otres Village with beautiful uniquely designed wooden bungalows with ensuite, a private garden and veranda with outdoor seating and included a fully equipped kitchen & dining lounge areas, free high-speed internet.” 
It is in reality, a one-kilometre jog (not 800m) to the beach if you use 10 minutes, along stinking rubbish lined roads, crisscrossed by all manner of construction site vehicles, motorbikes and tuk-tuks in a cacophony of horns and the extreme din of traffic. Otres is no longer a “village” but an open sewer. The bungalows are perched in an isolated green patch between Chinese construction sites on testosterone. They are insert-infested with basic kitchen facilities no AC and sad poorly lit concrete-floored bathroom. The “in-house restaurant” is a bench beside a small open-air kitchenette. The beds are without nets and the furniture homemade pallets topped with thin uncomfortable cushions. The up to ten-hour long blackouts are accompanied by the throb of a generator, and the lack of Wi-Fi only adds to your misery. The minuscule veranda, with room for one, has a well-worn chair in earshot of the neighbouring huts and din of the construction site. The un-curtained entrance steals privacy. No wonder there is a for sale sign out the front. On cancelling and moving to other accommodation, the manager made us wait while our taxi idled at the gate. He needed to check if we had stolen anything from the bungalow! What we had taken however was a memory of the worst ever stay in our family’s holidaying. Perhaps he took the tip we left for the cleaners! Who knows? We were so relieved to depart in our cloud of red dust that we didn’t care. My advice is to skip this ”paradise” as it is no longer a pristine get-away-from-it-all but a garish Chinese version of Las Vegas and a host that doesn't know the meaning of the word.
