Budget guesthouse has clean a/c and fan rooms. Facilities are limited, however, with no fridge or coffee on site. It is a couple of blocks back from the river but there is a local coffee and baguette shop just opposite. No info on tours so check the tourist police office on the water front that can arrange trips and onward travel. 

Cheap but basic accommodation 

Our driver from Ratanakiri was very helpful to drop us in front of SAVET. I guess the pictures are really old. During our 1 week stay we had a good sleep and goos shower. Only 1 staff speaks English so you better wait for him to arrived. They are friendly eventhough some staff dont speaks English they will try to help you.

The location of the guesthouse is just 5-10 minutes walk to the market and nearby restaurant. 5mins walk to the riverfront. If you would like to see Stueng Treng with a motorbike you better work out with Mr. HENG the only guy who rents motorbike here. For us we didnt rent beacuse he was not friendly at all.

The staff are friendly, the lobby is full of great wood work. It is clean here and cheap $7.5 a night. During this time we stayed staff could not even help us to find places that we could visit, purely business. After they have our 1 week payment they are not so keen to help... You better plan really well your trip here. They were so surprise seeing "barang". It would be better they have some tour recommendation. Every question they will answer I dont know, please check it there, NO. It was frustrating though...We ask locals beacuse they have a better idea compare to the online, during this time asking google was better to get information.  If we havent pay in advance we would stay for only a night in this place.

I suggest just pay for a night first to try, if you will like the vibe here...

Good Location, good value for your money

Clean comfortable spacious room.  Good value for money.  Short walk to night market to eat dinner and same again in the morning to get breakfast.  It's a little cheaper than some of the guest houses in the centre of the town about 5 - 10 minutes walk away

They have just opened a new hotel next to Savet 1 and it is fab. The rooms were huge, comfy and spotless (as was the whole hotel) lovely shared balconies to people watch as well. Very good location to wander around and get to know the small but very nice town. Worth staying more that one night!

Probably the cleanest place I have stayed in!!!

The place is nice and clean enough. It also has a cute gym space (and by that I mean three machines abandoned on the terrace). But the best thing is the staff. They were so helpful. They helped me even to organise a very last minute tour to the flooded forest by kayak. They were really helpful and always smiley. Also very close to the bus station and the local market.

A 10 min walk from markets and bus depot and Ponika's (our safe food choice).   1st floor front room. Staircase quite steep. Bay window unfortunately was blocked by huge carved timber bedhead.  Bed was comfy, bedside table (locked), bar fridge (not all rooms have one), chairs, small balcony with chairs.  Air-con and wall fan.  No wardrobe or cupboards, only coathooks on wall (bring hangers).  Bathroom a problem. Floor was constantly wet, slippery - drain for shower was on other side of floor, under the sink.  Sink waste broken, no plug, pleated flexible hose for drainage full of mould. 
When water wouldn't go down quickly it would flood. Wanted to launder so staff kindly lprovided a plastic tub.  Top floor gym equipment, table and chairs under cover which we used for family games. Manager both picked us up and returned us to bus station, refusing a tip. That is service.

Very helpful and willing staff

We stayed two nights at Savet.

A Cambodian family owns this place. It features 7 rooms. We stayed in a very large room on the third floor. The room is spacious, simple, and has hot shower. The TV is small but has a few international channels.

The third floor has a terrace overlooking the street where you can watch the local neighborhood scene go by. It also has some fitness/exercise equipment that I can't imagine anyone using.

The guesthouse is located 2.5 blocks off the main street where you will likely get dropped off if you took a minivan to Stung Treng. I downloaded the Google map of the city beforehand so it was very easy to find the guesthouse from where we got dropped off. 

The young couple who runs Savet speak good English. Their very friendly, young staff do not, which is fine. The couple don't stay at the guesthouse but if you need anything that requires complicated English communication, their Khmer staff will call them on phone. 

There's a very, very good, affordable pho (noodle soup) place directly across the street for meals when you tire of the western menu Khmer food you get elsewhere. We ate a few bad street vendor and restaurant food elsewhere in the city so we ended up eating at the Saigon pho place for the rest of our stay because it was reliably good.

There are cheap massage, laundry, and convenience store places within a block so all your travel needs are close by. There's even a milk tea place across the street, next to the Saigon pho spot, if you are hankering for another sweet drink.

If you're like us and decided to stay in Stung Treng to visit the waterfall near the Lao border and possibly see dolphins, you can rent a motorbike from Savet for $10. It's a 1.5-2 hour motorbike ride on mostly flat, dirt roads that are surprisingly smooth. If you need comfort, you're going to need to hire a car for $60-$115 to take you to various sights. We opted for the $10 motorbike for the pure adventure and cost, but our butts and legs were quite sore after the day...more reason to get another massage!

If you're reading this review a year from now, the current Savet building might be a converted massage place and a new guesthouse will likely be operating next door. The friendly Savet owners are constructing a larger building next door right now. I'm sure it will be very nice and of course new and clean in late 2018/early 2019!  

P.S. The building construction next door did not negatively affect our stay. We had a quiet two nights.

Great location, good value, big room

Before heading to Laos, de spent one night in Savet 1. The rooms are clean and spacious, and there is a lovely terrasse upstairs. But the best part of our stay was the kindness of tenants, who were juste adorable, going through the trouble of bringing us to the bus station when our pick up was running late. Really going thé extra mile 😊

Lovely stay in Savet 1

We stayed in Savet 1 in February 2017 for 3 nights. The guesthouse was immaculate, the room and bathroom was very large (I think they upgraded us free of charge), bed was really comfortable. They organised mountainbike's for us to explore Stung Treng and it's surrounds. Loved Stung Treng for a true experience of Cambodia with a LOT less tourists and the adventure of getting around and exploring without English speakers. Very good value for money at Savet 1.
