In total disrepair, no toilet paper, generally dirty, nowhere to plug in a/c , porch rotting and felt unsafe. Took forever to get hot water, fawcett control on shower ready to fall off, bathroom sink handles backwards. 
The staff were fine. That’s it. 
Under new management 2 weeks before our arrival. Highly suggest you go across street. 
Charged for shitzu, non shedding dog, 
No doubt our dog cleaner than room.
Disgusting overall.

Do not stay here!!!

This hotel is run down and filthy. The owner told us that the pool and hot tub were open until 10 pm, and then 15 minutes later(around 7 pm) we went down and the whole lobby was closed. Could not use facilities. He has obviously given up. We felt unsafe with discarded fridges, rotten looking couches and chairs, dozens of booze bottles, random pieces of metal strewn all around the shared patio outside of our room. Garbage and loose debris all over staircase. Large window in room would not lock. Room was filthy. No cups, glasses, etc in room, no access to ice machine. Bankruptcy must be the next step for this formerly beautiful resort. Very sad for them and NOT A PLACE TO STAY FOR ANYONE! Horrible!

STAY AWAY!

Off the highway and quiet. Bedding was comfortable, warm and immaculate. Bathrooms well cared for. Galley style kitchen was lacking sufficient quantities for our group of 10, so we had to borrow from our second cabin. Exteriors could use some TLC. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our group  has reunion every September, and we had been to Spruce Hill when it was Hills Ranch in 1995. Glad we went again. This is not a luxurious experience, more like being at 'the family cabin in the forest', but worked out to about $100 per person for a weekend, and every couple or single had their own bedroom. One bathroom per cabin, so 5 sharing. Wanda the dog was a great 'mascot'. Fatty-Cat was on loan if anyone suspected little furry invaders.....

Returned after 28 years !

This review is for the horse  camping  site,  and  I wouldn't  recommend  staying  there , when we arrived  the water was shut off , OK up to the lodge to see why , as the owner knew we were coming  a month in advance. A problem  with the connection , which took three days to fix . My friend had to repeatedly tell him we needed  water more than once a day .
We also had to fix the corrals  ourselves ,the outdoor  toilet was filthy,  hadn't been cleaned in years .
We were told we could  use the hottub and swimming  pool , but a sign saying it was shut down went up and down on different  nights , to top it all off Ken the owner tried to bill  us double for the one site we used . Also tried the same  with our friends,  a mother and daughter, on   one site . My friend and all of us had to dispute with him to get that corrected . It's not worth the hassle. 

Very disappointed with the service

Hidden gem! Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, pool and views were enjoyable. We will be back for sure. Ken at the desk was so helpful and Karen in the restaurant Made us amazing turkey pies! Great value.

Hidden gem! 

Been visiting this resort  every few years since the 1980’s. Yes it is nothing like the original Hills health spa, facilities are getting dated and maintenance is lacking. Our chalet was clean, comfortable, appliances worked well but missing some utensils and glasses. Bathroom shower was good and forceful. Lighting is not great but its been that way for 30+ yr. The front lobby is dark and the front desk looks disorganized. The restaurant is only open by request and not a great menu. Thankfully next door is Rolling Hills a charming place that serves brunch and dinner. Great pizza and music on the weekend.X country ski trails are good but sad to see the tubing hill, mini ski hill with tow rope and skating rink have disappeared. The owners lost a Discrimination tribunal case a few years ago and staffing is a big issue still. Also the pandemic and poor snow conditions for the few years have really hurt the resort. Sadly this is no longer a family resort but we had fun and enjoyed our stay. Maybe if more people supported the resort, the owners could invest money to bring the place up to speed

Not great but not as bad as some say

I have been to this “resort” when it was actually a resort. Now….it is a crappy motel where people live. Everything was filthy.  The gym has layers of dust everywhere and filthy mirrors. Our room was so dirty and outside our room there were overflowing ashtrays, an old couch and booze bottles. We had a smoke detector with no batteries, light fixtures missing and empty toilet paper rolls. So disappointed as this place used to be such a gem.  If I wanted to stay at low income housing I wouldn’t book at a four star resort. I have absolutely nothing good to say from this experience. Oh, and they charged me a $20 tip on my room automatically. 

Once a gem, now a dump.

We had a wonderful stay during Christmas.  Having read the reviews, we were nervous about our stay, but the chalet was perfect for us.  It is a basic chalet with 3 bedrooms.  The bedding, pillows and bed were good.  All clean and comfortable. 

I cooked breakfast in the chalet and used our microwave, stove and oven, coffee pot. All in good working order.  Anything not stocked in your kitchen cupboards, go ask and they will bring for you.  Our fridge freezer also worked great.  

This chalet is dated, but comparable with other places we have stayed in Jasper AB. We had five adults and dogs in one place.  This was better than having separate hotel rooms. 

We had a large wood kitchen table and 6 chairs.  Perfect for playing games and eating our meals. 

We did order pizza from the pizzeria and it was delicious. 

The kids went swimming in the pool and sat in the hot tub.  It was clean and an enjoyable time. 

There was tube rental, and horse sleigh rides available.  We didn’t use these. 

The bathroom had plenty of hot water and strong water pressure in the shower. 

Large TV on main floor with a modem for our own wifi. 

There was a nice big deck off main floor with bbq and table and chairs. 

Also another smaller deck off upstairs bedroom. 

We stayed in #15 chalet and I will definitely stay here again. 

Ken was easy to deal with and made sure we had everything we needed for our three nights.  We were booked for 4 nights, but due to a highway closure we’re missed our first night.  I called to let him know we wouldn’t be there.  When we arrived we only paid for the three nights we were staying. He didn’t charge us for the fist night we missed.  I really appreciated that. 

The negatives for our chalet were: the ceiling fans were dusty (but so are mine at home!) and the lamps in bedrooms weren’t plugged in.  A few light bulbs were burnt out. When looking to plug in the lamps there were some cob webs in the corners behind the furniture.  None of these would make our stay unbearable. 

I disagree with the one star comments. If you are looking for a basic, clean and quiet place to stay, this is a great place.

Great place for our family Christmas

The website pictures are very deceiving. It seemed the owner was only staff working. The room was dirty, I cleaned the bathroom upon arrival. The coffee pot still had coffee and filter in it. The bed sheet was turned inside out and the pillow case had a handful of eyelashes on it. The inside of door to our room had mosquito and blood splats. The restaurant was closed and the owner cooked us dinner in the breakfast room. The menu had about 6 choices. My husbands first choice was not available. His steak was raw. My chicken cordon blue was the tiny frozen processed meat type you buy in bulk and was burnt beyond edilbity…at fine dining prices. By 10 pm we were so grossed out, we packed our stuff and found another hotel in 100 mile house.
Sad, as it’s a beautiful place but obviously poorly managed. 

Don’t stay here 

Another great stay! Im not sure why everyone leaves such bad reviews… we are never disappointed. Everything is clean when we come. No garbage anywhere as mentioned in other posts… I sometimes wonder if we are staying at the same place as others… Can’t beat it for the price that’s for sure! 

Never disappointed in the chalets, but this time we got the honeymoon suite. The jacuzzi was very relaxing, older, but who cares. Went on a horseback ride this time as well. 10/10 nice experience. Off to the spa next which we have already used in past stays. Looking forward to our next trip, hopefully sooner then later. Great place to come for some R&R 

Ken is extremely accommodating and will get you anything you want or need! All you have to do is ask!!
