I stayed for about two weeks and the place had a nice homey feel with nice wood accents. The breakfast is average; just coffee, juice, toast, peanut butter and jam. If you’re staying for a while it will be hard to eat that breakfast everyday so you will end up buying your own. The rooms were fine and spacious with your own lockers. I enjoyed the upstairs lounge and table as it was a good place to meet others. 

The only complaint I had was the kitchen. The guest kitchen was very dirty and small. I don’t think the staff monitor or check the kitchen to make sure that it is kept clean and I don’t think they check the fridge to make sure that guests take out their food when they check out. Therefore, there was very little space in the fridge and some food looked very old. The pots and pans are also very old and dirty and aren’t appealing to use. The tap in the kitchen also leaks and the water that comes out of it is cloudy so I never drank water from that tap. 

Another concerning thing is that there are no locks on the doors. The front door is kept unlocked 24/7 which is fine so people can get in but the room doors also don’t have locks so anyone would have been able to wander in. It is fine that you can put valuables in the lockers but your larger luggage will just sit in the room so it is easy for anyone to access.

Nice lodge with homey feel but some things need attention

Such a nice stay it was clean with plenty space great owner who was very helpful  and staff as well as excellent facilities. I would 100% recommend to others and will definitely be coming back in the near future

Amazing 100% recommend

This place is truly a hidden gem, considering the price you pay this hostel is cleaner than some hotels I’ve been in. So fantastic to wake up and come back after a long day and get some socializing in with your fellow vacation house-mates and enjoy the sauna room with a hot tub! Which I may add is completely cleaned out and scrubbed daily!!! So impressed. I know it sounds a little scary when you think hostel but this has to be the cleanest and most accommodating I’ve been in. Geof is an absolute angel he is so insightful and kind, and can’t go without mentioning the star of the lodge, his gorgeous and adorable mastiff Barkley. Highly suggest this for a place to stay as it is a short bus or taxi ride away from the village off hwy99 - besides your barely in your hotel because your busy enjoying the beauty of whistler . Was such a pleasure to stay here and meet everyone that I had , definitely coming back and highly recommend staying here !

Very accommodating , very clean !!!!

Alpine Lodge is a fantastic Hostel in an excellent location, with the most wonderful staff. Geoff and the staff are so welcoming, friendly and could not do more for you! If you need any advice, recommendations of which trails to walk, which sights to see or activities to do or, even if you would just like to listen to some past stories and experiences, Geoff could not be more helpful and insightful. The hostel itself is so cosy, the rooms are so clean and the beds are comfy! It has a really great atmosphere and the decor on the walls with photographs which past guests have gifted to Geoff really highlight just how lovely this place is. The location is great, a lovely walk to the Village on the Valley Trail or a short bus journey, with the bus stop literally minutes away! What's more, breakfast is included in the price too - you could not ask for more really! I cannot wait to return to Whistler and when I do, I certainly hope to return to Alpine Lodge Hostel. Thank you for the pleasant stay, Geoff and the team!

A wonderful experience at Alpine Lodge Hostel - will most definitely return!

Excellent hostel, with great facilities. Bike path starts outside, with a lovely short ride through trees to village centre. Alternatively, free bus outside. Geoff managed to fit us in on busiest summer weekend, when world championship Crankworx event was on!!! Friendly staff, clean premises and one of the best hostels in which we have stayed in Canada. Highly recommended

Great hostel with Geoff a fantastic host

This was the first place I stayed in Whistler back around Christmas/New year time (a long overdue post). Geoff, the owner, is a lovely bloke, who cooked us up a huge feast and grabbed us a load of beers for christmas. He even organised a santa to come and give out presents :) the breakfasts are decent and the staff are sweet. 11/10 would recommend

Such a nice experience

This place is conveniently located next to Alpine Cafe and a short stroll to the local to the village. The cafe next door serves awesome food with daily specials and the four nights I went there I had lamb shank, chicken pesto, sirloin steak and stroganoff. 
Enough of that! Alpine Lodge is a cosy place to hangout with TV, friendly Japanese staff, WiFi and other travellers. 
You can was your clothes, there’s a sauna and hot tub and lockers for secure storage.  I had a great stay at the Alpine and the host, Geoff, is very accommodating 


Great, cosy

I stayed at the Alpine Lodge the week of March 5. The staff were very friendly and made an effort to call everyone by name and make them feel welcome. They interacted with the guests and always greeted you with a smile. The hostel is very clean, in an excellent location and a great rate for Whistler. There was a light breakfast (tea, coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, toast, jam etc.,) available each morning. My room was on the 3rd floor the Wifi didn't work there but the common room was always available and it worked great there. The hostel provides a cozy cottage feel which was perfect for a Whistler get away.

Great Staff

On our trip from Vancouver to Banff we entered this lodge for a break. It is important to note beforehand that it is really a lodge (a large house, in the style of a hostel) and not a real hotel. We were super friendly and were able to get into our room immediately. Everything is kept simple and useful. But you feel comfortable from the beginning. You get (even in summer/fall) a skiing feeling. The rooms are individual (be careful when booking whether with a private or community bath). For staying or early, there is a community room, as you know it. from a schoolyard. All over the house there is free WiFi available (in the upper floor there is a bit of a downside). Critics: We have had access to both rooms, but we could not have had access to one of these rooms (but we had access to one of our own balconies at night).

Highly recommended

Location reachable by bus from the visitor center of Whistler, there's a huge guard dog waiting for you that's sweet like never before, the place is a wooden hut with plenty of sauna, Turkish bath and everything to your private use if you want, I wanted, breakfast in the morning is great, I had to stay for a day and I got three, incredible how you feel welcome, there's a lot of walking trails that also go from there and reach the area of lakes, alpha and high lakes, even the trials valley is within walking distance or if you prefer take the bus that takes you downtown, on one of my routes as I returned to the hostel I found a cute little boy with so much table and lemonade for sale at home, and it was impossible to resist even a nice, less challenging walk or even to make a nice, more challenging walk.
