My wife and I enjoyed our three-night stay at The Doctor’s House last year. Our hosts Miriam and John were very hospitable. The breakfast was tasty and locally sourced, and Miriam was attentive to my food allergies. This was our first visit to the Bruce Peninsula and we welcomed John’s advice about restaurants and places to see. His recommendations were spot on. It’s a bit of a drive from the B&B in Tara to the places where we wanted to hike, such as Lions Head and The Grotto, but we knew that when we booked, and we were grateful to have a good and reasonably-priced place to stay when such accommodations can be hard to come by in the Bruce. We enjoyed the company of other guests who also stayed at The Doctor’s House. Some were from Europe. Another was from Brazil. The bathroom situation got a little tricky when the house was full, but we were all considerate and thus it was still manageable, We would definitely stay again here, and we certainly look forward to our next trip to the Bruce, which is a spectacular place.

Good and reasonably-priced place in the Bruce Peninsula

We really enjoyed our stay at the Doctor's House B&B. The owners were very accommodating and kind and breakfast was delicious both mornings! We stayed in the Victorian room, which was very spacious. My dad and brother stayed in the School House room which was on the main floor with a private bathroom. Each room's décor goes along with the different themes. Very neat place!

Lots of Charm!

We enjoyed basing our tour of the Bruce Peninsula from this historic home. Our room was themed as the old schoolhouse. The room was comfortable with an en suite restroom and large shower. The hosts were very congenial. The breakfast include a number of homemade extras. 

Peaceful Place

Lovely house built in the late 1800's with a firm history in the town of Tara. The house and grounds are well maintained. The garden is inviting and relaxing with a quiet and tranquil setting. The deck in the back yard has ample seating and a BBQ that can be used if you wish. The Nautical room that we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The shared main bathroom on the second floor is clean, modern, well equipped and spacious. It was also convenient to have a shared powder room on the same floor. There was also a mini fridge, microwave and laundry facilities available for use. The dining room is inviting, spacious and clean and our breakfast was deliciously prepared with locally farmed produce. Miriam and John and fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge of the Grey/Bruce county. Their hospitality is world class warm and friendly. Perfect location in the Bruce! 

The Doctor is in and he has the cure for the big city blues! The B&B is a perfect place to slow down and relax. The house has been lovingly restored with attention to every detail. The rooms are comfortable and the furniture and antiques add to the atmosphere without cluttering the space. We found our room (English Cottage) to be spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious! The region, with its sleepy villages and gentle rolling farmland, adds to the restfulness of the visit.

There are several guest rooms and it can feel a bit crowded if they are all filled – kind of like grandma’s house at Christmas time. A minor issue but something to consider if you are looking for solitude.
